>yeah, skyrim where every dungeons ends with dravgirs and every dragon encounter is the same shit but with different particle effects
unironically better than Oblivion dungeon.
You must be crazy. Skyrim combat has animations for when you hit an enemy. Enemies can block you. You can parry, shield bash, you have a ton of control on how much resources you want to pull into your attack with power attacks, etc. With Oblivion, you legitimately only spam the attack button until the enemy dies. Its not even worth it to block.
yeah, skyrim where every dungeons ends with dravgirs and every dragon encounter is the same shit but with different particle effects
You're complaining that skyrim has dungeon themes when comparing it to oblivion which quite literally has tilesets.
Daggerfall is the worst game in the series. It is likely the worst video game ever made.
Oblivion is the second best TES behind Skyrim and would be number one with better scaling.
You are legitimately insane. Daggerfall is the second best in the series, right after Morrowind. Oblivion is rock bottom alongside Arena.
>Skyrim combat has animations for when you hit an enemy
and all of the animations are so incredibly janky and do shit like change around your movement that that's barely a positive >Enemies can block you
They can and do, except for when you do shit like use a power attack to break it >You can parry, shield bash
Yeah i'll give you that, but to be fair Skyrim's shield bash system literally only exists to stunlock enemies so they never get to attack you, it's certainly not a good system >you have a ton of control on how much resources you want to pull into your attack with power attacks, etc
there is literally zero resource management in Skyrim, the combat is completely brainless unless you're playing on legendary in which case all you can do is abuse shit like shieldbashes so enemies don't one shot you >With Oblivion, you legitimately only spam the attack button until the enemy dies
or you use power attacks to break their blocks, or you use spells and shit with a variety of customizable effects to mix in paralyzations and weakness spells and shit to keep combat interesting and fun >Its not even worth it to block
It genuinely is, blocking in Oblivion is great. The only time it isn't is when you see the enemy readying a power attack, in which case you need to stop blocking and just dodge
Daggerfall is the worst game in the series. It is likely the worst video game ever made.
Oblivion is the second best TES behind Skyrim and would be number one with better scaling.
RPGs should always be in third person. B*thesda RPG gameplay is fundamentally flawed due to the first person perspective. I understand it's done to increase immersion, but it makes magic and melee gameplay so much worse and completely unsatisfying to land blows or spells on enemies.
Why are the blows only coming at the player in a 15 degree cone that constitutes the FOV? Seems like in a real sword fight the blows would be coming from all angles.
What's the point of grinding away looking for noice armor if you can't even see it when you equip it? >implying dmg negation is more important than aesthetics
Looks like shit, feels like shit. First person should only be used for twitch shooters.
>moving goalpost >doesn't even play game and doesn't know that you can see the armor while interacting with npc or simply looking down >thinking his opinion matters
Every Bethesda game is garbage, Design wise and especially with game feel/kinesthetics
You know what fallout 76 told me? Bethesda actual thinks their game design is perfect so the only choice was to expand into multiplayer
What a joke
Piranha bytes worst game, Risen 2, is still miles better than every poorly Designed bethesda trash, and I never want to play risen 2 again
Let me tell you something friend: All The Elder Scrolls games are fricking boring garbage. ALL THEY ARE is a first person shooter game with guns removed and an RPG system tacked over it.
Dragon's Dogma
Fable
Elona
Various roguelikes like IVAN,Stonesoup or CastlevaniaRL
Play those if you want some ye olden medieval fantasy bullshit but stay the actual frick away from Elder Scrolls. They are a waste of your fricking SOUL.
>Walk 15 minutes with absolutely nothing happening except some random bandit without shoes attacking me and dying in 2 hits >Find the cave I need for my quest >Looks exactly like the 200 other caves >Multiple treasure chests that all have 2 gold and a torch in it >Hit the necromancer a bunch until he falls over >Walk back to town for 15 minutes with nothing happening >Here are your 20 gold pieces
There are things that Oblivion does better... but they are very few. Like the ability to create custom magics, not being able to drink a billion potions in the middle of the fight, and some skills like unharmed.
People complain about skyrim's dungeons being linear, but Oblivion's are almost as linear as them, and outside of elven ruins, basically all oblivion dungeons are literally the same.
I'm liking Morrowind thus far, loved Skyrim. From what I've heard, Oblivion is kinda in-between Morrowind and Skyrim (?) although as I haven't played Oblivion yet I can't be sure. What are the odds of me being disappointed?
also this game keeps scaring the shit out of me not gonna lie frick the ancestral tombs
>also this game keeps scaring the shit out of me not gonna lie frick the ancestral tombs
wait til you get to meet the greater bonewalker or drauger in Morrowind. >What are the odds of me being disappointed?
Somewhat high. The game is still enjoyable enough, but it feels like the weird middle child that has features from Skyrim and Morrowind, but they are inferior to Skyrim and Morrowind.
The music is the best among the three though.
oblivion isn't meant to be a dungeon adventurer game. its meant to be a comfy murder hobo game where you break into every shop/house in the imperial city and steal everything and kill the NPCs in their sleep. and then you go walk through the forest and enjoy the music. its the best elder scrolls games because it plays to the elder scrolls series' strength as a comfy psycho simulator instead of trying to be a shitty rpg like morrowind or a shitty action game like skyrim.
Oblivion's gameplay is fricking terrible and some of the worst I've ever experienced. The quests, the music, these are the reasons to play and are a lot of fun to experience - trouble is it's a video game, so the gameplay is kind of important. Clearly someone at bethesda realized this and put the difficulty slider in, but that just cheapens the feel of the game, even if it is borderline necessary to have a good time.
Yeah Oblivion is terrible, only nostalgiagays actually like it. It's hard to even name a single redeeming quality. >the quests
Don't make me laugh. Most of them are just annoying combat, don't pretend they aren't.
To be fair I think when people mention "the quests" they're usually referring to the writing and content, not so much the actual gameplay of the quest since as you say they're almost all just annoying combat.
The writing is definitely not worth playing the game for. I know what people mean, they mean they were blown away when they were 10 years old by their first RPG ever cause they were used to every game being a Call of Duty clone. Oblivion has no redeeming qualities. It's an RPG for children and should be mocked as such.
nice thread
>he leveled in Oblivion
Then stop playing.
Oblivion is millenial slop
just do emils movie questlines at level 1 then play Morrowind or Skyrim which are both better
morrowind was very much "millennial"
Oblivion is the worst game in the series. Unironically wait for the skyrim conversion mod to have non-shit game mechanics and improved dungeons.
yeah, skyrim where every dungeons ends with dravgirs and every dragon encounter is the same shit but with different particle effects
>yeah, skyrim where every dungeons ends with dravgirs and every dragon encounter is the same shit but with different particle effects
unironically better than Oblivion dungeon.
>skyrim where every dungeons ends with
a switch at the end that opens up a wall to the dungeon entrance
Skyrim's combat is unironically just as bad, porting Oblivion to Skyrim's engine isn't going to improve it at all

Great post. People who defend Skyrims combat are literally suffering from hallucinations.
If there is a port, I wish they keep Oblivion spell casting.
Daggerfall is the worst game in the series. It is likely the worst video game ever made.
Oblivion is the second best TES behind Skyrim and would be number one with better scaling.
Suggsverse is the best verse.
>Daggerfall is the worst game in the series
Zoom Zoom spoted
>defeated a necromancer in a boring cave for the town
>got 70 golds
It really is
>what’s a dungeon crawler?

>RPGs should always be in third person.
Worst take itt. And there have been some truly atrocious ones up there.
Name a single first person rpg that does a good job of depicting the basic act of thrusting a sword into flesh
KCD
Kingdom Come Deliverance

They do come from all angles. You would know if you played the game.

tbf only mercy killsare are satisfying. the general combat is janky and it feels like you're poking someone with a giant tooth pick.
Nah, combat is all around great in that game.
>feels like you're poking someone with a giant tooth pick.
That's how it should be.
Oblibion is shit, nihil novi.
In fact, all of tes is shit.
>dungeons
anon you're meant to go to the cities and towns and get quests
said quests lead to dungeons.

the witcher 3?
I have recently been playing Skyrim.
I'm excited to play it, right now I'm on Morrowind after playing Skyrim for several years.
There is a huge chance that you will get disappointed.
T. played Skyrim, Morrowind, and finally Oblivion in this order.
Just play Oblivion and decide for yourself if you like it, don't let jaded Gankerirgins ruin it for you before you play it
Right on, I've got quite a bit left of Morrowind to go though given I'm like Level 8
>also this game keeps scaring the shit out of me not gonna lie frick the ancestral tombs
wait til you get to meet the greater bonewalker or drauger in Morrowind.
>What are the odds of me being disappointed?
Somewhat high. The game is still enjoyable enough, but it feels like the weird middle child that has features from Skyrim and Morrowind, but they are inferior to Skyrim and Morrowind.
The music is the best among the three though.
Be careful of the level scaling in Oblivion.
Lower the difficulty slider if you find it unbearable later on.

Rather have samey dungeons over samey quests like skyrim lol
Welcome to bethesda games
Fricking love these guys
I swear, I could kill that guar. Those boots are ruined.

how many of you are planning to buy Starfield?
Yeah Oblivion is terrible, only nostalgiagays actually like it. It's hard to even name a single redeeming quality.

The music.
I am like 8 hours in it, but I can't really endure the combat and dungeon anymore tbh
