I used to think this because sonic 06 is genuinely pretty fun once you start fricking with all the glitches and overpowered abilities they never had time to balance before release but I replayed heroes recently and once you understand all the nuances of your movelist and play super hard mode by downloading a save file its actually pretty awesome. When the characters shut the frick up for 5 minutes and you have more elaborate level design you suddenly realize that this game is actually the closest 3D sonic got to getting the feel of the genesis games right as you keep replaying it in hour long sessions and figuring out new ways to spindash before swapping to tails to carry the momentum into a fly and skip a huge chunk of the level.
shame 3/4 versions of this game are buggy dogshit that will kill you sometimes for following automated sequences and even in the "good" version of the game sometimes the game just kind of freaks out when you're doing things that work 90% of the time
pinball tables, rail switching, thunder shoot and knuckles punches sometimes just go in totally insane directions instead of in the direction you're actually pointing with no real way to know ahead of time its gonna happen
light speed dash can be pretty fricked too if you dont realize you can homing attack into the path and mash B
>fast-paced and addictive Boost stages that reward memorisation and ask skill of the player, unlike Forces >chill night stages with acrobatic platforming, classic collectathon gameplay and an exploratory feel >satisfyingly tactile combat that strikes a balance between utility and flashiness, with a wide variety of amazing, fluidly animated combos to pull off >the best graphics the series has ever seen that have yet to be topped, to the point hardware is only recently able to render them properly >sublime and diverse soundtrack that pulls together musical influences from across the globe >tonally perfect story, not too serious and not too silly, not to mention that unfathomably kino opening >hubs and human npcs are fully fleshed out and fit into the universe, with tons of neat side stories to follow if you pay attention >RPG lite elements add depth with far more competency than 06 >positively bursting with content, bonus acts and sidequests galore >easily the highest budget Sonic project ever made
>b-b-but the Werehog...
No. The Werehog was a narratively appropriate way of implementing the action gameplay they wanted to include. Get the frick over it.
Only the truest arbiters of quality appreciate Unleashed. It is like fine wine. As the years go by it only ages better and better.
game shoots itself in the foot constantly >can't enjoy day stages great presentation and gameplay because sonic keeps going WHOO FEELIN GOOD and qte doorbell sounds are playing over the great music and large parts of the levels are literally hold boost/do qte and watch the game play itself >can't enjoy night stages because its like god of war but with a horrible frame rate, enemies that don't react to your attacks, and again the really nice music is replaced by a looping 8 second combat music with extremely annoying jazz horns and even more qte doorbell sounds >both gameplay styles encourage you to replay levels so you can beat them faster but also you have to comb through them for medals so you can unlock more of the game
eggman land and the dlc levels show it has potential but this game is just kind of dogshit 90% of the time so unless you download a save and just play the actually fun levels endlessly its not a good game
on a series X you can't get the dlc anymore when thats the only fun part of the game so even if we're going to entertain the idea that "play it on a console that came out 12 years after release" is a good answer it doesn't fix the game
Impressive, almost all of these arguments are invalid.
>Sonic talks too much during the day levels
Not an argument. >Portions of the levels are holding Boost to win
Yes it's called spectacle, and it only happens once or twice a stage. Adabat for example requires constant attention and precision. >the night levels have bad frame rate
This ceased to be a valid argument two or three years ago when it hit official backwards compatibility, if you choose to still play it on decades old consoles and whine about performance it's your own fault >the enemies don't react to your attacks
Oh good, another moron who thought they could just mash one button repeatedly to melt the health bars. Try looking at the combo list, it is there for a reason. There are moves that break guard, moves that propel enemies into the air so you can fight them up there, moves that cancel enemy attacks, charge moves, and so on. Refusal to engage with the combat system does not mean it is broken. >the combat theme is annoying
I'll give you that, needs sorting if there's ever a remaster >muh medals
Literally not an issue if you pay even an iota of attention to hub exploration and engage with the Werehog stage design. 90% are in plain sight anyway >the DLC showed potential
This is flat out wrong, most of the DLC level design is Kaizo bullshit, as was proven by some of them being resurrected as Cyberspace levels in Frontiers where they still suck
how can you try to present yourself as the alpha gamer unlike me who is simply filtered by the slow boring qte filled werehog combat, then also complain that the DLC levels are too hard?
people who played it when they were kids on their first game console (the 360) are now in their mid 20s and project 06 lets people pretend the game was actually secretly going to be a good game if they gave it more dev time even though everything that's good about P06 is literally fanfic made by the devs with no proof it was gonna be in the og game
Not even. >optimized, loading screen takes seconds, PC port can be broken from modern day g-sync and can exceed 120 fps >spindash and physics were slow and gravity was either non existent if you were on a vehicle or snow board or it was high and you get sucked to the ground. >combat is slower because of frame drops and having to rely on homing attack or Shadow's air combos is slower than using a Power character >grinding is objectionably slower >bosses in 06 waste your time with specific prerequisites for them to be hit or they have a long time mid phase showing a weak point >The fricking story (unless you're an autistic Shadow gay) is awful >Town missions are fricking gay and even Adventure 1 never made you do quizzes and shit (THAT ALSO HAVE 4+ LOADING SCREENS BETWEEN TRANSITION)
frick you, you're wrong and dumb and stupid and gay and cringe and probably underaged and probably not bullied enough.
If the Werehog stages were at 60 fps and I could turn off the battle music and enjoy the night time tracks I wouldn't dislike them as hard. But I also had a snoy copy of Unleashed.
>Shits all over Heroes, Unleashed and every other 3D sonic games >Classic art style >Fish-eye lens >One of the best soundtracks in the series >Single handedly saved the Sega Saturn
Memeing aside I always thought the people acting like this would’ve singlehandedly saved Sega and the Sonic brand were mental.
100% would’ve been jank barely playable shit. People saying Adventure was a rough transition to 3D have no clue how much worse it could’ve been.
Not having a Sonic game on the Saturn was Sega telling consumers they shouldn't give a frick about the saturn. This is what people mean that it would have saved the Saturn, it shows Sega wasn't supporting the system which is exactly what happened as they squeezed the Dreamcast out prematurely. Also it would have been fun with the gravity gimmick.
Heroes is definitely better, but I will give you credit in that I actually wanted to finish 06 to see the mess to the end, while I gave up on Heroes after Team Sonic's story
this isn't a very good thread OP you should delete it
No it isn't, you fricking twat. '06 is the nadir of the franchise and no amount of revisionism will ever change that.

I honestly believe I never encountered issues with Heroes on Gamecube.
pinball tables, rail switching, thunder shoot and knuckles punches sometimes just go in totally insane directions instead of in the direction you're actually pointing with no real way to know ahead of time its gonna happen
light speed dash can be pretty fricked too if you dont realize you can homing attack into the path and mash B
It's STILL the best 3D Sonic.

Fricking APOLOGISE.
Zoomer revisionism is one hell of a drug.

>he doesn't know about the kino that is Unleashed on Series X
Your own fault.
on a series X you can't get the dlc anymore when thats the only fun part of the game so even if we're going to entertain the idea that "play it on a console that came out 12 years after release" is a good answer it doesn't fix the game

Difference between genuine challenge and challenge due to poor level design
>am I just not that good at the game? no, its the game that's wrong
Dude I platinumed the fricking thing and did all the hotdog missions. I think I've earned my Unleashed stripes.
>CHAOS BAIT!
Why are there so many 06 apologists now?
people who played it when they were kids on their first game console (the 360) are now in their mid 20s and project 06 lets people pretend the game was actually secretly going to be a good game if they gave it more dev time even though everything that's good about P06 is literally fanfic made by the devs with no proof it was gonna be in the og game
Project 06
Is it even worth it or is it just three levels still
Look at all those Eggman's Bait Threads!
>t. millennial
It's kino.
>I definitely watched all these shows that aired when I was 4 years old
Your mind will be blown when you find out we watched reruns of Tom and Jerry and Scooby-Doo.
Reruns or even first runs on yuropoor TVs.
Stuff like Global release dates of videogames for example are still a relative new concept.
yep
I'd rather play a broken game than a boring game
Not even.

put a giga chad on sonic and use kino/sovl a lot
otherwise 5/10 bait.

Heroes and Stay are ludokino though?
Heroes is definitely better, but I will give you credit in that I actually wanted to finish 06 to see the mess to the end, while I gave up on Heroes after Team Sonic's story
is there a study on how nintendo game design brain damaged people into making posts like this?
Sonic heros was good, you're just an idiot who thinks otherwise.
Also reallly, comparing it to 06?
Really?
Yep,your an actual idiot.
Release it on steam and the fans will fix it even more and faster than the ancient pc version
