Now I’m in my mid 30s and still a NEET.
I played WoW non-stop from 2005 to 2017
I tried becoming a normie in 2018/2019 and failed, then the pandemic hit in 2020 and I’ve been back to my shutin NEET ways, but now I can’t even play WoW because it’s got so fricking bad
Everyone was telling me I was making a big mistake leaving high-school but I never listened, all I wanted to do was play WoW
I don’t even know what else to say but I wonder how many other people are out there like me who wasted their peak years of development and education and building stages of life away on WoW and ended up completely stunted in life

As a kid I just got called a “problem child” and told off and punished often.
Even as a kid (age 5-10) I would leave school during the day and walk home because I cbfd school.

I used to lead top of the realm raid guild in Vanilla and TBC when I was 16. I studied during the day and played from 5 pm to 2 am. Slept like 4 hours a night.
Then I got bored of the game and quit. Mostly switched to gym and martial arts.
Now I run my own company and have 2 kids and a wife. I think organizing Vanilla raids was super valuable life experience. Way harder than running a company tbh.
OP I'm guessing you're American? idk if you're able but I would recommend going back to school/college/uni or get an apprenticeship and try to form some kind of career path

If it's a big warehouse, you hardly have to talk to anybody. Can work graveyard shifts for extra dosh (you probably like to sleep during the day anyway). I assume you live alone and live a very frugal life, so you're gonna end up with a lot of extra money if all you do is do graveyard shifts and work during weekends/holidays. I know tons of people who have switched careers in their 30s. Sure, starting from nothing put you at a disadvantage compared to people who started building a career at 22, but it’s not uncommon and definitely not insurmountable. If you have about thirty years left until you’re too old to work, then if you got a GED now and started on a bachelors, you would still have 26 years to build experience in a professional field. Even if you don’t want to go to college, my biggest advice would be get your GED ASAP so that you can get into jobs that require a high school education. Also, don’t worry so much about where you’re at compared to other people. Everyone has someone more successful than them and fixating on it won’t help.

You learn for your life and your job is what you do in your free time. If you hat your job, then it's mostly because it's not what you do in your free time.

Literally every study on this subject shows that IQ is one of the most significant contributors to success, you'd be hard pressed to find many CEOs of Fortune 500 companies, or scientists, or powerful politicians, or just wealthy people in general, who don't have a significantly above average IQ.
Of course there are exceptions, entertainers and athletes are often dumb as bricks, but that's a small fraction of successful people.

I played that garbage quite regularly from 2005 to early 2021 with some major patches being skipped. Sure, I was a moron for wasting that much time on that shit game but it's not like my life is over before 30 and the fact that I kept other hobbies on the side prevented me from being a total shut in nerd.
It's never too late to change your life so I recommend getting into a trade school, finding a hobby (physical 1 on 1 or team sports) to build a network of associates and friends that let you get back into the social sphere and life "progress" in general.

I'm 30, have only worked in research and have a bachelor's degree in STEM that I got while battling a chronic disease. I feel like shit right now but every day I'm studying and getting a little better. I hope that by next year I can find a job and sustain myself, having that I think I'll start having a positive image of myself at least. No plans to have a family or anything, I just want to work at something I love until I die, play some vidya and enjoy my hobbies without having this disease.

If you feel you don't fit in with other people, or you think you're hopelessly behind, try to assess and confront those issues.

But don't wait. Get started now. The longer you wait, the longer it takes to get through this. 5 years from now, you could be done, instead of just starting.

Sorry to hear that OP. I saw the signs early and quit during Cata. Also stopped coming to Ganker and made a social life for myself. All in all it went pretty well, partied, had multiple girlfriends, made lots of friends. Then I fell for the college meme and accumulated a ton of debt going to a private college, inevitably dropped out, and over 5 years my life slowly spiraled back to NEETdom. I was even engaged at one point but the creeping depression ruined that too. Now Im back posting here after almost a decade. Wish things worked out better in the end, but at least i got away long enough to experience real life.
