This game was fun. I still revisit it every now and then (with plenty of mods.) Is it perfect? Not at all. Were mistakes made in development? Absolutely. Nonetheless I still keep coming back to it. I remember the general threads on /vg/ like they were yesterday. People posting builds, how they decorated their ships, art of their characters. I don't care what anyone says, this game has soul.

I love it too. Have you seen the new galaxy in conflict mod? Fricking insane
Not OP but I have not. What is the mod about?
Also I fricking love A.V.I.A.N.!
%3D%3D
Full voice acting, interesting characters, crazy boss fights, adds parrying and special combat abilities, stealth, proper ai, actually scary horror sequences (do not read into this better to experience them going in blind), cool quests, realistic bullet damage, shit like air raids, artillery, tanks, proper planet wars. I did not read all the dialogue from the story. It feels similar to warhammer 40k during the age of strife. With the ruin causing civilizations to collapse, planets fall into different ages (industrial, medieval, future, modern, etc) wars break out in struggles for power. There is some weird 4th dimension stuff and some mutated creatures. It goes into some echirus/moon zombie lore. Seriously though the combat is crazy good. Dev is passionate and active. It also makes you think about loadout, inventory space, makeshift weapons. It is best doing co-op with some friends going in blind and not really researching the mod or spoiling the boss fights and battles. I will say, the vietnam sequence is crazy and there is an actual good car chase scene.
To add, it actually is like the vanilla story where with the planets and races, you have all these small stories and struggles going on. Pvp in it is really fun as well if you have a good group and no cheaters. I made a modpack on steam that goes well together but it can be kind of demanding.
The mod actually makes me kind of upset starbound is done. The game is amazing but frick it should be so much better. Thank god for the modding community. It is small but still kicking pretty hard.
The mod seems to detached from the original for my liking, but it looks well done nonetheless.
Not a huge fan of the new humanoid sprites, but it does look like something that might be interesting. Voice acting in Starbound sounds silly, but it still looks like something that is worth giving a try.
Can I play this without engaging in the rest of Starbound at all?
GiC? Almost. Once you are spacefairing you can say frick the rest of the game. So once you beat the mining facility.
Sounds fun, love me some overhaul mods.
This sad little thing is prime comfy game. Needs a shitload of mods to make it not get stale real fast, but building goofy nonsense and devastating local ecosystems is just so relaxing, listening to the calming music and the whistles of your pet poptop.
I've used the """adult""" version so long I've totally forgotten what her original dialog is.
I agree. It sucks for servers that mods are a minefield. I think the beautiful trees mod might be causing problems on snow planets so if anyone cannot teleport down on a snow planet let me know and I will remove the mod.
>still in my starter system. I am really taking my time on the bog but finally got to a rpg lvl 20
Yeah bgl some of the beautiful trees are kind of ugly lmfao. I've been to a couple snow/tundra biomes with them and instead of the nice alpine furs and stuff its weird looking willows with slime on them. I guess thats kind of cool for making starbound a weirder place to be but i cant imagine building on the slime tree planet lol
I added it for the exploration. The pack, besides gic, has most major FU compatible planet mods in an effort to make the universe more fun to explore.
I'm still angry at this game. The first beta had a better combat system with the armor/pen system.
Any balancing that made this fun like Terraria because the progression was always ass and gameplay slow.
>gameplay slow
I can speedrun starbound in 2 hours
How to make Starbound not shit? Serious question because I pre-ordered this game and I still don't feel like I got $15 of enjoyment.
I'm willing to accept that I am playing this game incorrectly.
I played the game since alpha
To make it not shit, your first play-through just try and speedrun, collect shit, build a base, play with friends, make a small town. Then downlod a frick ton of mods. Frackin, FFS, betabound, GiC, shellguard, arcana, rpg growth, better moons, and any frackin compatible race and planet exploration mods. Get some good music and radios if you play with friends. Treat it more like exploration, roleplay, co-op, and base building than a boss speedrun game like terreria.
A lot of people forget that starbound is not terreria and should not be played like it or went into with the same attitude. The combat and bosses are not the focal point.
agreed. i'd say it's mostly a sandbox roleplaying game, heavy on the roleplay. it helps to have an active imagination
It sucks multiplayer never had a faction, anti cheat, or land/planet claiming system. Or FTL type ship combat. What could have been. Smh
Starmade was abandoned too. I just want a good, roleplay, space civ survival building game. Empyrion is the closest we have.
Shores of Hazeron was a shining gem that burned out brightly
>The combat and bosses are not the focal point.
>99% of the progression in the so-called sandbox game takes place in instanced dungeons completely outside of the actual playable world where you kill a bunch of enemies and then there's a boss at the end
so that's a fricking lie
There's more to the game than what you're calling "progression."
The instance dungeons are the progression gates. The planets and more matter so little and consumable buffs last three seconds tops.
The story in Starbound is about as important as the story in minecraft. You should play necesse if you want a terreria clone. You clearly do not enjoy a survival building rpg and want combat.
>The story isn't important
>You have to do unskippable dialogue and cutscenes and the same instanced dungeons just to get double jump and make any progression
If I could avoid the storyline I would.
boo hoo? it isn't like it's difficult. and how often are you making new characters anyway?
homie download some mods. You can ignore the whole story and still get to near end game. You just miss out on op loot and top tier dungeons but can build anything and explore anything without fighting bosses past the moon fuel.
Is anyone still playing this?
Starbound has 2k players on right now according to Steam
i loved the intro at first but i think new life was the first mod i installed.
i finished the main quest first as a pretty average build like i always do then i restarted something a little bit more based on exploration and speech.
The game should have had a public server with like 1,000 people allowed on and it should have then just been a game of seeing if you come across anyone.
That's No Man's Sky where you can see people in the same solar system as you.
i don't know what they were thinking with having such absolute shit character customization in that game
Probably the same thing when they decided on only three races.
The cost of the hoverbike is the best example of a small fun non-game breaking movement tech that's expensive 4norasin. All the movement tech, mechs and vehicles are time gated where you've got to play through their shit tutorials and then slave on a planet.
post cool screenshots of your characters and builds if you're playing it 🙂
Pics at my starter base
Probably gunna switch to a different run even though this one was only halfwayish
cute! Also way bigger and neater than my starter bases lol
Eh, it is a pretty heavily modded run so I needed more space for crafting. Usually I do my starter on a tier 2/3 planet, main base on tier 3/4, and then I do some outposts and farms on high tier owns. Late game I like to do a larp city build.
No homosexual but I love playing as cute aliens and doing a roleplay as some humble scientist. It makes collecting fun.
My first ship. Meant to have a clean, minimalist, modern aesthetic. Tried to place each crafting station in an immersive and thematic way instead of shoving every workbench into one cramped room with shitloads of platforms and calling it a day. Particularly happy about my fishtank. Took me an ungodly amount of time to get all those legendary fish. Wish Terraria had permanent critters like this so I could make all manner of zoos and fishtanks in it.
Misclick, meant to reply to
cool aquarium dude. overall reminds me of one of the apex characters i used to have way back then, maybe there's only so much you can do with the vanilla ships.
There's a certain bizarre appeal for me in vanilla ships. Like it's somewhat of a challenge to puzzle out how your base should be adapted to the shape and size of the ship and how every room you had in mind can be translated into a ship subsection. I kinda like doing that. Like for example that bathroom in the crew quarters. I couldn't fit a hand dryer into that tiny room so I used a toilet paper holder as sort of a paper towel dispenser. Same for my captain's bathroom, I couldn't fit a whole bathtub in so I had to shimmy in that shower pipe between the toilet and the sink.
What gave it awa- I mean, why would you say something like that about her? 🙁
She likes being a prostitute and you know it. Probably into that Big Apex wiener
>Big Apex wiener
My main
in an apex, so I suppose that's spot on, so long as it's not Mutt's Law infecting your brain when you write that.
Several prototype rooms from my unfinished and abandoned 'seedy pirate nightclub' spaceship project. Includes a dance floor, crew quarters, unfinished captain's quarters, a themed bar, an arcade, and the fun room where all the fun happens.
Based but your character is a prostitute
I always play it vanilla.
So there was a mod I was subscribed to that apparently isn't on the workshop anymore. Thing is, I don't know what that mod was. I have the ID number (2203553979)
Is there anyway I can find out what that mod was?
Find an internet archive and use it in the url
wayback machine yields no results
Then you are probably outta luck. You could try playing with it, see what is changed? Any memory of what was in the mod?
it was one of 261 mods i had installed and the last time i played it was like 2 years ago lol. no clue.
Good news: I got my game running with all my mods.
Bad news: I'm going to waste more of my life on this game.
A new adventure begins
Anon has returned to monke

Novakid cultural appropriation
Should we make a server? There was one a while ago. If we do hardcore modded it would need a dedi
if anyone can set up a server im willing to download this game again. it's been years since i played it and i do miss it, crazy to think that the beta happened ten years ago already...
hopefully anything interesting gets done with the source code, kill the granny and the shitty story
so do these new(?) huge mods like arcana and galaxy in conflict conflict with each other? im pretty sure i have frackin universe installed as well, dunno if i should switch something off for a while
okay nevermind my game ctd's on boot, time to untangle the mod mess
and now it takes like 5 minutes to boot on an ssd, SOVL
None of the big mods conflict with one another except for one. I forgot the name of the one but it was made by a guy with a FU hate boner. FFS, Arcana, Shellguard, Betabound, FU, and Galaxy in Conflict are some of the biggest that all work together. I made a modpack called VM 2.0 that works with basically every big mod that is for the latest starbound you can find on steam under collections.
If starbound is not working, one of the most common reasons is a weird glich with the resolution that you sometimes have to manually change.
i started a new character with all these mods, plop down onto the starting planet and get instantly assaulted by some OHKO turboBlack folk.
i really should've played vanilla for a few days first.
Unironically get gud (warm up with just vanilla or only FU) It is a pretty hardcore modpack but late game you become very op against most stuff. Once you get some T2 gear it should be fine as long as you progress at the pace FU wants, I.E. get to T3 like a normal run then make a base and take your time fully exploiting every T3+ (when you get to an alloying stage) planet type before moving to another. The only btfo enemies you see on T0/1 planets are probably Galaxy in Conflict ones. If you find an abandoned bunker, get a scrap weapon bench and make a basic iron weapon. The GiC ones will carry you to T3 easy. You still need FU armor.
>The only btfo enemies you see on T0/1 planets are probably Galaxy in Conflict ones.
yeah i figured as much. it's just that i beamed down right near some guarded camp, i think im just going to reroll a human and take it very slow for the time being.
Usually there is only one camp on your starter world as well. You can kite them with an avali gun that some races start with.
Also here is the general new game sequence I recommend.
>Select a class in the mysterious book based on ideal playstyle
>Circumnavigate planet, pick up wood, corn, potatoes, and cotton for the starter missions while your research goes up.
>Find the starter outpost and link the teleporter to yours
>Do the starter quests for the lady and big white thing
>Flatten out an area near spawn
>Start a small farm and make a well near it. Place big crafting stuff like the armory here
>Loot a GiC workbench from a bunker and make a basic weapon depending on taste/race
>Go mining
>Once starter missions are done you can do the tech dungeon
>Run through it, should be easy, you need 20 core fragments to activate the portal to the ark
>Do the basic first ark missions like scanning shit and the first 3 tech missions and the first mech mission
>Get T2 armor, if you have a GiC sword you should be fine to raid the echirus fuel depot and once you scan floran shit, do the floran mission. I think FU has a verdant ruin mission where you can scan stuff too. The loot is meh for the effort.
>Make EEP
>Fly to moon and get fuel
>Go to a star system that has a planet you want for a starter base, ideally T3 or T2
>Make your base, set up a teleporter
>Get tier 3 armor
>Fight the penguin ufo
At this point you have beaten early game and can frick around the universe at your own pace. Getting here usually takes me 1-3 hours.
I play too much starbound.
Trying to pick out what to do for my next playthrough with the modpack. Any suggestions?
Idk if I should go for being a tanky swordsman or speedy pistol/axe guy or what. Also what race, there are 70 lol. Nothing too basic but nothing too moronic.
Leaning on a cute lamia female, peglaci male, mindflayer female, lastree female, maldacht male, mollopod female, frick so many choices.
I feel like true autists go trink, droden, or peglaci in FU. Vanilla autists go apex or glich. I find something really depressing about being an advanced ai in the far future. They can understand the history of their existence more than any natural life and knowing your creator and demise with such certainty would fricking suck. Glich are probably the happiest ignorant frickers in Starbound/FU
Decided on lastree male (heavy ranged) and a nightar (melee build) male

Someone should start a new server, but having played on the last starbound server...
You gotta do some RP Autism or atleast events. Otherwise we're just gonna hide and solo planets because we're fricking autistic.
It could be as easy as just running a competition for the best house or base, anything. Even PvP as shitty as it may be.
Also, no adding sexbound
I would be fine with hosting one (without coomer mods) if I get a week or two to set it up. I have 400+ hrs in game. We probably need it dedicated if we want heavy mods.
For the sake of pvp, would rpg growth be bad? It is fun for pve but could either be too broken or very interesting for pvp. It adds a ton of fun pve missions and on top of the science for FU I think it makes grinding more fun/worthwhile
I would say 'why not', it probably cant hurt. Anything that forces people together is good, because interaction between people on the server is going to be the main thing that will keep the server alive, if there is to be one. Part of the reason the other died
I am not innocent in that happening as well. But one should learn from the mistakes of the past
I haven't played the mod, but 'classes' imply teaming up with others who are not your class. Which may help in this. So once again, why not. One would just need to worry about stability, as one does with a frick ton of mods
sexbound is mandatory. Any other mods are fine too but sexbound is needed for multiplayer starbound
Starbound bros, are we about to see a statbound general emerge?
it's midsummer today, the celebration of renewal, anything might happen.
I want to make larp roleplay structures.
If you played the last vm server, how bad was griefing? Is there anyway to prevent it in mp?
Looks like FU has built in grief protection
There wasn't really much griefing, but I imagine that was more due to the lack of people. But FU does have some stuff for that, and I'm sure there are admin commands (or atleast mobs)
So if I have my game that has a ton of mods, and I go to play on a server that has other mods what happens? I'd like to keep my singleplayer mods for when I play solo, but I'd also like to play on an rp server without having to uninstall my mods and install theirs every time i switch
Depends. If they are client side, you join like normal. If they are server and client side you need the mods. A good way to do this is
>server had a collection on steam page
>make a collection of your ideal mods
>uninstall all mods then sub to the collection depending on what you play
all mods then sub to the collection depending on what you play
doesn't uninstalling FU frick up the entire universe? i don't think it's a good idea, might as well have two separate starbound folders at this point.
You have a different single player and multiplayer character. As long as you still have the race mod and character ui extender for whichever you picked when you launch it should be fine
I wish more clothing mods were compatible with the mod that makes women have big breasts
It's been like eight years and there's still no mod compatibility for it. Shaking my head
>mod compatibility
the way clothes work is that they're completely independent from the actual body shape (apart from the pose), so each chest piece would have to be manually adjusted for appropriate size
I remember back when I ran a server for some friends and friends of friends, we made an apartment complex in an asteroid belt where we each had our own apartment. There was a keypad by the doors and we each set our own passcode to get in. The building itself was protected so that you couldn't dig into someone else's place.
That is a pretty smart idea actually. If we make a town have a janny protect it and the components then use passcodes.
Who's gonna make the starbound /vm/ mansion
I imagine it would be like the mansion from Saló
Are there any mods that split gun energy/sprint energy into two separate resources?
Kind of. None do it fully but some options
>If you want mostly vanilla I recommend using a vehicle or the vanilla meta of air dash and triple air jump. It is almost as fast as sprinting and more useful
>if you want just fu it has some op techs
Or you can go the changes fun route
>get FFS or Galaxy in conflict
FFS adds mostly realistic guns with reloads but not really ammo. Reloading balances the energy. Galaxy in Conflict adds op guns (also gives them to enemies) but makes guns rely on actual bullets, magazines, rockets, and grenades
There are a few other gun mods but those two are the best
You can also pretty easily mod in a sprint tech that uses no energy
I think Starbound devs wanted a melee focus halfway through development so run and gun is broken in their eyes as npcs need to close the gap
>devs wanted a melee focus
i remember how getting a gun was an entire occasion and the only reliable way to do so was to find an avian pirate ship.
Yeah then they had some pretty cool plans for guns. I keep playing the galaxy in conflict mod and it really is what I wish starbound was. In depth combat, medical, vehicle systems, ammunition, short time to kill you if you do not prepare well but goes vise versa for enemies. In depth bosses who change their combat based on how you play, stages (vanilla kind of has boss stages) and bullet hell stuff that requires you to use techs. An actually dark story instead of the happy vanilla one and cooler story related dungeons/planets for races.
What's wrong with happy stories? Why must everything be so bleak all the time?
yeah i don't think starbound was ever supposed to be "dark". but they did frick up the lore at one point by globalizing it into this protectorate story line for everyone. while back then the destruction of earth was only human concern and every other playable race had its own little background to rely on, like the apex PC recently defecting from the government and the floran PC piloting a reverse-engineered human ship because the floran are somehow able to intuitively fix high-tech alien shit.
Nothing. It just feels too baby. I mean happy and cute are fine, I like the planets and cute characters but for a universe where a lovecraftian space monster destroys earth and corrupts sentient life into pink blob zombies you would think there should be more doom. More urgency in defeating the enemies
having both gic and fu installed is kind of stupid. so i find this super cool looking bow but it does only 4 damage per hit and can't effectively kill a lush planet blob but gic lets me craft a 200 dmg axe with iron that literally one shots everything.
I think gic melee are broken. I only use them for missions. The guns are pretty balanced with how expensive ammo is, I only use them in emergencies. Late game the FU weapons are better than GiC. FU armor is always better than GiC armor.
Why does my server get stuck loading the start planet? It sticks when "placing dungeon at (1014, 1040)"
oh ffs i got a planet to load but now i can't beam down to it
If we make a vm server should we have galaxy in conflict or is it too op/game changing?
It is fun to frick with but I would vote no.
I would also vote no
probably no, it's great for singleplayer with its bosses but i think it meddles too much with player agency and RP.
holy shit i don't remember those jumpy boys being such bullshit on the starter planet
Does this Galaxy in Conflict mod feature any energy weapons or other hi-tech McGuffins, or is it all modern ballistics and medieval weaponry?
Oh and also, does it properly overhaul the whole game to work around these realism mechanics, or does it just slap a bunch of content on top of vanilla and makes a bunch of vanilla shit obsolete like Calamity does with Terraria?
>or is it all modern ballistics and medieval weaponry?
mostly this. but armor does get pretty gimmicky and then there is stuff like remote controlled drones, but the focus is still obviously on modern tech and realism.
it doesn't overhaul anything, it simply adds all this stuff on top of the existing mechanics. so you only get bleeding from the gic frag grenade and not from normal vanilla bombs, kind of like that.
Thanks for informing me. I guess I'll skip it then. I don't really like half-assed mods that introduce content starkly different from the game its built for while just leaving said game in its initial state, creating this very sloppy and whiplash-inducing contrast.
What does FFS translate to? If I can't have a good overhaul, I might as well gather up some vanilla+ mods.
i think gic is at least worth it for an entire separate story line, it's kind of like a separate game within starbound.
and ffs stands for feast of fire and storm.
The gic story is really good. It is like if you get the betweenlands or twilight forest for minecraft where it is worth beating on a run but not the best for the longhaul. You kind of play it on its own.
It has a good number of energy weapons, about as many as it has black powder. It is mostly ballistic. FFS has cooler energy weapons that are balanced with vanilla but to get the really fun ones you have to beat the hidden level.
So... now that its been a day or three... Serb options? A bait, cast into the depths of the void.
I mentioned I would try to host one some time next week. We need to refine the mod list though.
you should just put in whatever mods you want at first. the crowd is never going to decide on one singular list, th "vm 2.0" collection might be a good start, maybe remove gic from there and it's good to go.
Yeah I plan to remove gic and not use sexbound. I still won’t have a chance to set anything up until monday-ish.
Did the last server go full deranged when the host added sexbound?
Apparently. I did not really play on the last one much. I an tempted to get some mods (like some cutebound ones) that make some races less furry/scaly since I hate that shit. I don’t think vm has many furgays.
Are those mods gonna unmonkey the apex somehow? Turn the avians into "monster girl" humans with feathery elbows? If so, then for what it's worth I vote no. Leave at least some alien shit in, even if it's just furries.
>I don’t think vm has many furgays.
I'm not entirely sure if we're talking about the same previous server, but when I checked the modpack for the one posted on Ganker (which I presume is the one we're talking about because the thread was disccussing whether to add sexbound or not) had like a ton of furgay races, including some with modelled genitalia, so while I'm not necessarily asking for furshit, I think it's worth pointing out that your assertion may not be particularly on the mark.
No. No cutebound for the apex. I mean the furry FU races. I did not see anything on Ganker since I hate v. I am looking at the second vm modpack which is pretty good for races. Just needs one pelagci removed because of FU and GiC removed then it is pretty good.
Like the full blown, looks like a fursona races like the dragon one mainly. I think the vm one should have cute shoggoths removed as well
You gonna remove FU? Oh thank frick. I've no idea how people are into that vast busywork dump of a mod.
he's not removing fu, learn2read
learn2write
Unfortunate, but unsurprising.
Server would be a little too boring without FU. You would be mostly down to building and have less planets, worse music, less fun crafting (yes I enjoy FU science), no fun farming, etc.
>worse music
lol, lmao
FU has a better soundtrack than starbound vanilla.
No, it doesn't
>cutebound
>Making the alien races look like generic anime monster girl shit
I will now ignore your setver
Just the dragon one from FU really. I don’t like cutebound for any vanilla races.
server saved. you can always ban furries from entering your base on racist grounds anyway.
it's better to keep erp to the minimum since it tends to attract trannies who often ruin communities with their damaged psyche.
Why did the last server die, anyway? I remembered it about it like a few months after the thread was posted, decided to try and visit, and it no longer existed.
idk anon, don't ask me. im not really privy to the chan community in starbound, im merely speaking from experience with other games and actual erp online since ive been doing it for years.
Nah, it was really just the nail in the coffin, combined with some 'world' stuff. There was a mod that wasnt quite working, and to make it work, the serb needed to start an entire new universe. That combined with some loading issues did not help. I would say that's what mostly killed it
Any tips and suggestions for the starter modpack for next sbr
I aint the person that started the server, just a humble anon. But a quick archive search gave me the previous set of mods and its list
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2407562949
Theres alot. But it worked okay after they deleted the ones that kept crashing the world. I suppose you could pick and choose.
honestly, even if we don't get a server up, i'm just happy seeing people post screenshots, maybe do a little story time of their characters
Yeah. If we can agree on a modpack people can post steam and do co op
One nice thing about starbound being so easy to cheat in is that most regular players have near the power of a janny. So the game does not attract power tripping trannies.
Should starbound server be eu or na
you can start a strawpoll to see the percentage, but im voting eu
Eh strawpolls never work but sure
https://strawpoll.com/ajnEOAb59ZW
if everyone honestly votes once we'll also be able to see how many anons we actually have
>if everyone honestly votes
>implying
as long as it's not west coast US or eastern europe, does it really matter? NYC and London are basically equivalent now a days.
I usually prefer dc or ny area for caligays
Real question.
Vanilla club deck or something custom?
I'd be delighted to give my input if I knew what this is referring to.
The hylotl club deck is just some rare thing you find in mega hylotl mega builds. Basically an underwater nip club
%3D
custom is fine just don't go around replacing its rather neutral melody with shit like
Yeah I do not plan that song. I was thinking
Vanilla or a random mix
katana zero music is good, yeah.
🙂
Does anyone else here set limits for themselves to make the game a bit more challenging for fun?
I do ALSO the server should be up around monday. I would love any mod suggestions from you guys or races you like to play/if cutebound is better or worse for them. I only have cutebound for the dragon race as stated. cuz frick scalies
Dead anon???
No, I got busier than I thought irl and spent the day canning shit
tfw you outgrow your starter base and need to expand or build a new one
My game freezes for a couple seconds every now and then, especially when interacting with loot or new things are spawning. Any idea why? It makes the game almost unplayable.
With new loot it has to calculate new recipes. It can also interact with quests. So
Do you have too many unfinished quests? Some mods reduce lag for it idk the names.
Are you running a stupid number of mods that add a lot of recipes and items?
Is your computer shit?
I do have a stupid amount of mods. Just a few quests, have the mod to optimize those. PC is really good. Maybe it's just too much shit stacked on top.
Probably too many mods then. I have a great pc and even then it can chug at times when I loot a lot of new items at once. I would optimize your modpack. I think 300 mods is a good limit for high end.
Oh? Hm. I have 294 although I do have FU, Arcana, Shell whatever and some other stuff.
>Find a portal on my first planet
>Get an awesome looking gun and sword out of the chest at the end
>Less DPS than my starting weapon
wtf
Did you find a unique weapon or what?
Need me some Avian tiddies
birds don't have breasts, the glitch should have the biggest breasts because they are a simulation of perfect society
So I started playing with the GiC mod enabled. I've pretty much learnt to treat any building or dungeon from that mod with extreme caution as tripwires and mines are everywhere and you can't seem to disable them, only set them off by tripping them or interacting with them (which results in your death most of the time). It seems silly that I can't shoot or throw bombs/grenades near landmines to set them off but instead need to load up on Red Suns and hope for the best or play like a platformer to get around them.
I can see that GiC weapons in general are far superior to any modded weapon so far, even FU ones, due to their sheer damage and the whole bleeding mechanic. But what of armour? Should I be focusing on FU armour tiers as usual, or should I be using GiC armour and use their artifacts and augments/trinkets system?
Started a server on linux recently with a large workshop modpack. Getting the mods to load on the server has been tricky but I managed to write a script to update the sbinit.config file with all the workshop paths in the specified directory:
https://files.catbox.moe/i2kzy3.sh
To use it, go into the directory with your sbinit.config, and run
"./script.sh ../../../workshop/content/211820/" replacing the path with wherever you have your workshop mods configured.
I couldn't find any tools online that did this for linux so I figured I'd share.
Bro? Your server address?
I'd rather not given my reputation on this board. People like to shit on me for hosting servers, just playing with friends for now, but wanted to make it potentially easier for
If he bails, I'll reconsider.
I am contemplating bailing because idk if 100ish dollars to host a potentially dead server is worth. Maybe for one month. Just been putting off buying a dedi. I got the mods to run on a locally hosted server though. My internet is not good enough to self host though.
$100? What service are you looking to use?
Hetzner
Cheap ones cannot load mods well and lag to shit
That's like a one time payment, right?
No lol. Monthly for dedicated. Nothing would run on a simple server. Not that expensive but still.
Fricking hell, a hundo per month. Honestly, not an investment I consider worth the payoff, getting a handful of autists together in a dead crippled game for a few months and then closing down anyway. I thought it would be free or at least sub-20 dollarydoobles, but this is silly.
Yeah. I had a high paying job and a lot in savings but quit to change paths. Otherwise I would not mind.
I think I'll go with
's suggestion and just figure out how to share the mod collection by proxy.
You could make an alt steam.
I would assume you are from vintage story threads because no one else on vm really has a notorious reputation for hosting. As long as you don’t make it a discord server.
>as long as you don't make it a discord server
if by "discord server" you mean game server with a public discord, fricking never
if by "discord server" you mean game server where people play on it while on discord, not gonna bother then
>my reputation
honestly just you mentioning it is kind of a turnoff, it's probably deserved
it's really just two or three people on one other thread but this one is comfy so I'd rather remain anon. If it was vanilla or had auto-downloading mods it'd be another story, but the collection means handing out my steam profile.
ask one of your friends to share the collection maybe? cause i don't think we're paying $100 a month to play an abandoned game
>paying 100% dollars for a downgraded game that's been left to rot since a ankle deep bounty update.
You're better off making an imaginary friend in the game.
It's just Terraria but soulless and somehow even gayer, 4/10
Can it still be bait if it's true?
I wish it wasn't so annoying trying to make mods. Been wanting to make a custom race for a char that originated from my starbound playthroughs lol
What kind of race do you want? Rip the aryan race mod btw
Simple one, shark/human hybrid race. It'd really just be Ningen with a handful of different shark tail sprites.
You could probably easily mod in outfits that change the tail sprite. Or maybe try and make like cutebound, just modify the race with a patch
Yeah, a cutebound-type race patch would work best honestly.
Are you a furry or are you just an alien enjoyer.
The only race mods I find hot are cutebound lastree, the spider girl, the cutebound lima, and maybe the goblin mod. I think it goes
>normal human/maybe cat or bunny ears enjoyers
>monster girl enjoyers (this includes floren)
>robot girl enjoyers
Then all the furry/scaly/whatever the fish/orca people are = scum
People who play the cool aliens/robots that you cannot really sexualize like droden or trink are the most based
Neither, I just prefer the whole X-mimi thing. Catgirls, bunnygirls, sharkgirls, etc.
Then you are the top one. Very nice
I cannot play the game without cutebound. I usually just play human though, I just think it looks better. Is there a way to have arachne and lamia settlements spawn naturally? Would be interesting to have space monster girls.
On another note, I really have a love/hate with Frackin. I like the factorio aspects, materiel refinery, power management, some of the planets, the capturenuat set, and some of the decorations it adds, but hate pretty much everything else. Also, any time I start up the game, I play for a bit and start an underwater biology lab/menagerie, then realize the scope of the project and that no one will actually see it aside me, and just lose steam. I wish the game was less lonely.
I agree. Frackin is fun though. I am finally actually working on setting up a server for us btw. Just working on getting mods to work but if has an ip now.
Usually you start with some gic crates. You need storage to organize it if you open them. Read the guides. Guns are powerful but break and have ammo so use them when you have to. Melee is better for bosses than guns.
On the starter planet you usually have a gic dungeon. Kill the people (if using vanilla you may have to cheese). Eventually you will find some dungeon that takes you to some medieval place. You just walk until you meet the tutorial boss. Then you buy some special flashlight at infinity express. Talk to ester. Then she tells you various gic planets to investigate.
WARNING if there are numbered quest items do not drop them after picking them up. It is really gay and I learned this the hard way. Do no drop until you have them all.
You can also progress in gic by just exploring the planets, you do not need to do the missions. You still get the main loot. Every gic planet and some regular planets have 1-3 dungeons with bosses and missions. You might just do them out of order. It is usually visually obvious where the dungeon. Just pick a direction and walk long enough. Occasionally hold alt. The missions have a running icon near them.
T. Beat gic. Lots of fun, very very very hard.
I'll keep an eye on the thread, you'll have cutebound on the server right? Or is that client side?
Not exactly. It has cutebound for some races. I kept some other races more alien. Like none for glich but humans and florans get it
Works for me.
I love the agriculture and beekeeping in frackin
Also the planets and chemistry, being able to get to late game on only the starter planet if you are good enough
>beekeeping
Some motherfricker on the team has an ascended form of autism. I blitzed down Ambrosia honeycomb before gear and insane bees pumping out consumables and eventually medicine. Makes me wish cooking was a bit more in-depth. My starter planet was basically taken over by bees though so perhaps not the best place for a picnic.
How the frick do you get started with the galaxy in conflict mod? Specifically the crafting, I don't get where to find the commodity crafting materials like lubricant or technical documents. Is it ONLY on the GiC planets?
If anyone wants to help, vm 2.0 is the modpack I am trimming down (currently at 400 mods)
So I will make a third modpack so the server runs better and does not have long ass restarts. What are some essential mods?
Frackin, knightfall, all the race mods (ideally), shellguard, arcana, rpg growth, betabound
Also i'm still really on the edge. Should we add Galaxy in conflict? You don't have to use the weapons and the missions are fun for co-op but the weapons break the rest of the game with how op they are
Got it to work with /vm/ essentials which are core non-race mods. Gunna do races gradually then try out some of the weapon/fun items stuff
Got it to work with most modded races i'd like. Will add weapons, more races, music, then post ip and mods if it all works
Avali included?
damn the furries for making the best build aesthetic the most notorious for yiff homosexualry
So far no. I'll try. It has taken me a good 10 hours so far to fix mods/check compatibility shit. I'll try the music next and last will be avali because they are most likely to break because mods that require different character extenders (when they literally do not need them) in steam can frick shit up
Fwiw Avali are probably the most fine tuned since they're popular, but I definitely have seen what you've described with other extender races.
Personally I despise half-assed mods that add something completely different from the vanilla game and don't bother overhauling the vanilla game to fit the mod's content. It's this stupid bubble that exists completely outside of the main game and has no place being in it.
Okay. No gic
I will do ffs it does fit in more than gic but is very on edge. If no one wants it i'll remove the ffs stuff
>FFS
Well it looks like a high effort mod, but I personally think it doesn't really fit either. Personally I vote, no, but it's a very lenient and conflict-adverse kind of no. I don't have as much of a problem with it as I would with GIC, so if someone else wants it - I wouldn't want to be a party pooper about it.
I will remove ffs I agree the weapons do not fit and it helps us reduce mod counts. It is op for mid game anyways
I know they should work I will work on them tonight. I will make an optional music pack as well. FFS is just a primitive GiC
Put the fat gay mod in it
what?
Ran into a crash with various weapon and outfit mods. I will try and shrink them down to the essentials, add a few radios, and test a few final races. The server should be ready within 48ish hours. Already paid for and got it running with the essential mods so worst case is we just get 200 instead of 300 mods lol.
Stars bless your heart for spending 100 dollarydooblerinooroobles on a handful of autists, I hope you'll find it worth the transaction.
single most op item in FU
Baste
not gunna be in the server but I highly recommend doing a run with gic on your own or with friends. Better than arcana, not as good as FU but better than FU for combat.
Insanity is so broken in general. I made a Magmatop Omega with Capturenaut maxed out at tier 7 I think? And also the RPG growth mod with the Explorer and Tamer classes. I was just a distraction while the pets mauled the shit out of everything. I also had a Psilamander for healing my other pets but it was unnecessary. Just dropping a single Magmatop with the bonuses was enough to solo most planets.
The build is extremely jank and gimped in a lot of ways but so is Terraria summoner. It's also not really that satisfying by the end. Before getting the Magmatop there was a degree of team building to the pets I brought with me. Usually a core of Psilamander (it can be obtained sooner then cryptobiology on bog planets) a Wisper/Wattsper (can go through walls and produces light on top of being a ranged pet) and then some kind of bruiser damage dealer. Trolls were very good, but sometimes got stuck. Dinosaurs were good early on but fall off hard. The smaller poptops, especially the elemental ones, were also good.
Unless there is pvp, is there any reason not to go explorer? Miner is pretty op with fu. Medic is the best pvp subclass.
Roleplay purpose, and I think some sub classes are locked behind others.
Has anybody on the Internet have done anything with the leaked source code yet?
Got a link?
https://0xacab.org/bidasci/starbound-v1.4.4-source-code
UPDATE
GOT AVALI TO WORK
every race mod I wanted but argonian now works. I will try some radios. Expect server up and ready today
I got all mods to work except radio because apparently you can't have fu and assorted radio mods in a dedicated server (even though they work fine in single player and co-op?) Anyways, I spent too much time making all these mods work together. I'll post modpack and ip in an hour or so after a few final tests.
Server ip: 66.23.200.231

Or go to starbound workshop, browse, collections, type /vm/ megapack, scroll down, open the 6 linked collections, press subscribe to all. The optional music pack is optional so pick and choose which songs you want to be able to play.
Server is in east usa to make it fair to west coast americans and euros
21:11 and 4:00 est are the current restart times
Let me know if you guys want any other mods, have any problems/bugs, or want restart times changed or something.
Just added one last customization mod. Should be it for now
Thank you chudjak, let me install Starbound again and save my current modlist. I'll get to downloading this. Might take a nap first while the mods save. Is there a way to make mod profiles and swap between them?
Yes. To do a mod profile, open the workshop, go to browse, press collections, then right side, create new collection. You need a random image and a title. Select create. Then go subscribe/unsubscribe to a random mod in the workshop so you can select subscriptions. Then while in subscriptions go through your list of starbound mods. I suggest right clicking them and pressing open new tab, makes it easier than having to backspace a lot. Then there should be a button, add to collection. Add it to your titled collection. You can publish it if you want friends to download the same mods. I would make a backup of your current modded save on your computer if you plan on hopping between them.
Alright, everything is downloading, it might take a little while. Hopefully everything works and steam doesn't flip.
Okay, double check btw I just did a few more updates a min ago. Should be under races part ii and maybe weapons
I'll get to it shortly, I gotta finish up work for the day and then I'll hop on and likely make a farm planet with energy/fuel trees, food and bees so there is a supply of recovery and food consumables. Usually what I do anyway when I play with friends.
Also I just uninstalled all my workshop items to make sure there are no mismatches. I.e. also uninstalling/reinstalling
I noticed a bug is depending on resolution you may not be able to see the FU stats for a few races that have them but if I try fixing it, it means less races so eh. I'm thinking of going as an arachne rouge, a pelagci gunner, or nightar or vampire tank
In the meantime, any suggestions for races
It all works with a fresh install. All races and mods. So if it says mod incompatibility then that is on your end (uninstall all mods then reinstall, make sure your optional mods are clientside)
Never played multiplayer, how is that working?
It's okay. I just gave a guy guns since i'm doing a melee build. Comfy so far
I finally made my character and was ready to go, but it says assets mismatched and you seem to have made a /VM/ 2.0, are those new mods already in?
Check the asset mismatch option in your settings in-game and /vm/-2.0 is older
the vm 2.0 is not in the server. The vm megapack and the 6 packs under it are.
Do you think this mod list is okay to play as a new player?
It's fine as a new player, I would never recommend this game vanilla to anyone in my life. I would advise doing Frackin Progression first, as it is closest to vanilla. Arcana requires unique Arcana gear and progression due to magical hazards. You can start that when you feel comfortable. No idea about Galaxy in Conflict, never played with it. The game might be a litter harder then normal, some of the enemies I found on the starter planet were really strong. If you are struggling just run away or beam to your ship.
Who is going to be a bro and upload all the mods in this list? , I know about the 3rd party sites to download the mods, but this would be a lot easier.
It's not just downloading them all locally, you gotta extract everything. Starbound mods can be a folder or a .pak file, and .pak files are almost always all named the same. If you grab them from the workshop, you've got to rename those files based on the folder it's in.
Will the mods work if they're inside the workshop folder? As in mods/<workshopnumber>/content.pak?
I don't know about on the client but on the server, no. I wrote the script here
to solve that issue for the server I was hosting for friends.
God or should I go as a thaumoth mage. I feel like mages are too weak
Starbound has mages? I thought it was scifi.
Starbound has had mages for ages
And?
Oh okay, I've only played it solo several years ago for maybe 20 hours.
Oh, well the devs took a huge turn and made the game really heavy on the Fantasy of scifi
That's really strange. Thanks anon!
>wait for /vm/ starbound server
>it's a mourning_dove server
kek
Is there something I should know about? Or is it just the usual drama around namegays?
No, he was just the old vintage story host until he gave it to some other guy. He was honestly fine.
I need to try that game.
Time will tell, I'm gonna give him a chance. If he acts up, I'll just go play single player. I just wanna play starbound with fellow autists.
he used to shitstir a lot in the vintage story threads, and probably still does. abused jannie, and if you believe the thread spawned a lot of stuff for himself. if anyone else starts another starbound server while his is around, they will get flamed, etc.
>inb4 mad
>inb4 troon
>inb4 inb4
Idk I lurked vintage story for a while. He has been pretty quiet. You are probably one of the old or current vintage story hosts but don't bring your drama here. This thread has been fine.
you asked, all I'm doing is telling what I know. If I wanted to shitsling I'd have done it already.
>You are probably one of the old or current vintage story hosts
nope, just a thread oldgay
Not the one asking, i'm another vm oldgay. Dove was autistic but pa solid host from when I played. Not the best but I don't remember too much shitflinging around him since the sol drama.
>VS 'tism seeping into other threads
>same host
>same tism
Why are you surprised
How is it tism, just one anon complaining, relax
I was going to play but I'll pass on another clique drama fest
I downloaded all the mods, but when it boots up it's a black screen. It tabs itself out, then minimizes. If I try to pull it up again, it attempts to pull itself up, but just minimizes the application again. I hear the chucklefish laugh when it boots, nothing else.
Sylvos when you connect with that character you lag out the server lol
Yeah I wouldn't even let me talk in chat. I think one issue is it needs BYOS custom race patch. Alternately I can just choose a base game race, bur otherwise it's just stuck in space endlessly loading. The one time it did "work" had some visual glitches but started to fall apart and cause bugs when I put crafting tables down or moved boxes.
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1194878261&searchtext=byos+patch
I will add that in a second
Take your time, I'm gonna need a bit to catch up to you guys once I get sorted.
What race is it sylvos I think that crashes the server even with the mod. It says loading your ship crashes it
I added it. If it doesn't work, try the vanilla ship or another race
The ship isn't giving me an error, but it's still endlessly "loading" in space. Won't land on a planet. Gonna try and reboot then reconnect but it just crashed when trying to exit, I think it's borked.
Saturnian/Thaumoth
Well I just did a restart. Maybe try joining with a fresh character and selecting byos in the server? Otherwise you might have to do the vanilla ship
I'll be back on the server in a handful of minutes or so. Grabbing dinner and doing some other things real quick.
Which race from the modpack is considered the most clever? I wanna play the big brain boys.
human
Clever? Lore wise, apex or trink. I feel like pelagci, trink, and droden are some chad races. From the first hour we had three people making a base on a bog planet. A nightar swordsman/knight, a saturanian mage/healer, and a kitsune/hylotl hybrid explorer/gunner. I think this server is gunna be pretty roleplay heavy.
Could be an issue with byos, use vanilla. Or you are lagging works fine for me.
>Clever? Lore wise, apex or trink
Will probably go with Apex then. Though I do like the way my nightar turned out.
>Could be an issue with byos, use vanilla
I was told vanilla ships lack a lot of functionality that gets used in FU. Will I be able to comfortably play with a vanilla ship without losing out too much on content and mechanics?
Yes. I always play with vanilla. I am doing a vanilla ship. Honestly the main ship mechanics in fu byos have a vanilla ship alternative (basically fuel efficiency) and late game a vanilla ship is more fuel efficient than byos. The main issue is you cannot be as creative with the ship exterior (still can customize inside) and early game your ship has less space so you need to build planetary bases once you find a teleporter core (usually in the first fu dungeon)
Tried with a vanilla ship, still boots me out of the server with the same inactivity message. Don't know what the deal is, but no server for me, I suppose.
Weird, the only thing I can think of is a mod mismatch. Maybe it is a resolution thing. I used to have starboud crash soon after loading and had to manually change my resolution in the config
How do I get around this? I want to actually know what stats I'll be playing with.
resolution-let moment
I'm playing on a 12 year old laptop because I'm poor, don't bully me.
Should pick a random one first just to make sure you can run this pack alright.
all joking aside that is just straight up a problem with having a low resolution screen.
I keep getting randomly booted from the server "due to inactivity", even if I moved 4 seconds ago.
Hey owen, longinus here, on our bog planet I started the tower to house some of our crafting tables for public use. Idk if we should make a separate storage build or make storage under it. Also stuck on window design.
Set up the storage under the building.
Okay, I’ll be on tonight and try to craft some tier 2/3 epps. When I am on I will post the planet coords for any anons who want. It might be a good idea to set up a chem lab in the bog but I feel like we do not need chemistry so much until tier 4 and by that time we can make a mid game base.
I was working on chemistry for botany and bees. They seem to have buffed mites, they're an actual problem now instead of something that never happens, so bees are going a bit slower. I do have a gene strain that works day and night however.
Do you think bog planets are just fricked for bees?
No, the only climates that affect bees are ones with hazards. Ie; if it's freezing you need cold protection for the bees using a frame with that ability, or frost immune bees. This was also my first set on a lush planet.
Alright, I cleaned out all my Starbound files, doing a fresh install and going to try again. Sorry for the wait.
Good news, trying again and being stubborn, BYOS works if you do the intro. Skipping it seems to glitch it out.
Nice, I might try it. It worked when I just picked a vanilla ship byos. I can make my own anyways
This game has no fricking soul, what little passion it had existed in the ex terraria devs that made it but chucklefrick tossed it as soon as they could because they only cared about the fricking money
Go back to Ganker terrariahomosexual
NTA, He's technically right though. You could see as the soul was surgically extracted along with the content each update during beta. The only reason Starbound is still "alive" is mods and the recent source code leak.
It's okay Terraria is losing it's soul too. 1.4 was fricking awful.
>It's okay Terraria is losing it's soul too. 1.4 was fricking awful.
Can you elaborate on this
Before 1.4, you could place NPCs anywhere, you know, in a building game. Now they have to be in specific biomes, with other specific NPCs. You also can't use torches for decoration without matching the biome or you get a luck penalty. Little things like this take away from the game. A lot of the new bosses feel like mods rather then base game terraria as well. Rather then fixing broken, half implemented classes like Summoner, they released Master mode and followed it up with multiple meme seeds adding redundant new difficulties after (Legendary mode) which is cool on paper but there are bigger issues and it's clear Redigit has a fixation on it. Progression is also being railroaded, which is whatever, but the ways they are doing it is fricking stupid. You need like, 250 meteorite blocks on your world or meteors will grief your landscape after the evil biome boss. It's really more nitpicks as a builder then anything else, and it pales in comparison to what Tiy and Chucklefrick did to Starbound, but it's there.
What a little stupid fricking b***h you are, you must be neet
I think starbound has more soul than terreria. With the planets, races, and dungeons. This video really presents it better than I can with the builds. I think earlier in the thread it was mentioned that they are not the same games. Terreria is a boss fighting game. Starbound is a building exploration roleplaying game. Terreria I play fast with friends, beat bosses, build wood box apartments, then quit. I come back to starbound, esp modded. I take it slow, roleplay, make cool builds, constantly find new stuff, and in multiplayer, I replay with new characters, stories, bases, etc. starbound also looks better.
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=
Isn’t Terraria technically better on the building department, just that it needs a bit more paying attention and effort? Moreso if you use mods to enhance the building aspect. I can see Starbound looking prettier but coming from someone who played both, it feels the same, just with a different coat of paint.
Tougher Mobs and Starforge break the game I think. The Yukai are fricking raid bosses and I assume other similar mobs are as well. Does Tougher Mobs effect things that aren't vanilla or added with some of these other mods? This is making the slog of early game frackin into an extremely frustrating shitshow. Unless Starforge mobs are that broken be default. I should not be fighting it on a t2 planet regardless.
Slyv here, game crashed. Won't let me log back in. Gotta sleep anyway, hopefully with a reboot I can get in tomorrow.
Oh I thought that was just me! The server must have died on someone joining then. /Fortune
I think sometimes the server gets fricky with byos. We need mods or it gets boring but playing with mods makes a minefield. I think if you byos a vanilla species as a random species it can work pretty well. Also do the tutorial.
This could have been a better no mans sky if the devs hadn't just shit it out and left it to rot
Game is loading for like 10 minutes now. Is that normal. I do not have a toaster, actually my pc is pretty high end.
This modpack takes abnormally long to load compared to others I've used, and I've got a medium-high end PC.
It's almost 300 mods with some of the biggest mods in the game, several unoptimized mods as well I'm sure. The game chugs when it works.
it still seems crazy to me that the pack is that big for a /vm/ server. This game has a tendency to hang when certain things happen, for example new players joining for the first time and the game trying to find a starter world.
The lag in game is really bad, but not nearly as bad as the item bloat and inventory management nightmare.
eighty different snowflake crafting stations because they just HAVE to have their blocks and decorations in a custom workbench.
https://steamcommunity.com/workshop/filedetails/?id=2844996935
a bit of a GOAT mod. turns giant bases full of crafting stations into just storage + this one station. Dunno what host senpai thinks though.
I will check it out. A little afraid of adding more with how much of a minefield starbound is with servers. I thought FU has something that organizes it all for you.
We already have something to organise all the items, but it doesnt do crafting sadly. (inspecting the sticky notes will tell you what i wrote)
the mod mentioned just lets you put crafting stations into one station, only real downside is asking everyone to install something new lel
On that note, is there a reason the server isn't running Enhanced Storage? Or any inventory expansion mod? With the item bloat, it's extremely difficult to manage. A friend of mine a long time ago said those mods crash servers, I want to know if it's true or not.
They do crash servers. Bingo.
Lol I feel like starbound as a game is designed to crash servers
Starbound and starmade. Two games that could have been amazing
Item code in starbound is really, really bad. It's most of the lag generation actually. The source code leaked and seemingly the game runs culling on any item that hasnt been loaded in 1 minute. So if I put silver bars I was using for crafting away into storage and take them out in only 1 minute, it reloads all those items.
now multiply that by how many items the game has, all the weird mashed up models like random gen weapons, and every mods special snowflake items and crafting stations.... yeah.
Honestly so far running this server and just having to get the mods to work, I am realizing how horribly starbound is designed for servers. I will try and run this for a while.
If you do have to restart, investing in planetary bases might be safer than your ship. I ran vanilla ship this whole time and had 0 problems.
Works fine for me
Timing out trying to connect to the server.
The server is kill, on that note, has anyone seen Longius around at all lately?
$5 says it's the vanilla starbound bug where it's trying to search for the starter world for a new player that joined.
I'm sure it is, the game's optimization is awful and there is only so much the mod patches can do. Does little to assuage my worries with the admin MIA.
I am not mia
That is the most common one yes. Happens mostly when an anon does byos. Just use vanilla ships
Dove, upload your mod list in anonfiles or something, I can check the mod ID and rename it later, steamworshop.download could only take me so far and steamcmd doesn't work. I ain't buying this game.
Alright. You want the optional music mods too?
Ye, send everything if possible, thanks.
69Fff136z1/Mods4Anon_zip
Thinks my post is spam. Add that shit after the anonfiles shit
I was on today I just finished the windows and lights for our bog tower. Tempted to start a reed farm later so we can use it in builds.
>character/world I was on corrupted
rip, I don't know if I have it in me to start over again
That is due to byos. People need to stop the byos it clearly is most problems. Or pick a random race and do a vanilla byos then make it how you want.
oh i bricked myself lol.
dont use the back weapon mod in quickbar. loading my character now throws an error and crashes even in singleplayer. /Fortune
nvm we're so back.
still, be careful when using this mod. seemingly if it cant read the file right it just throws errors forever.
I think server died.
Fixed. Betaboubd had an update. I wish I could have shit autoupdate
I finally fully checked out an arcane planet and we gotta have a endgame group base set up on one. The one I went to had ton of amazing generated structures and a very varied assortment of biomes.
Oh nice, maybe we can do a mid game town with small starter bases and connect it to an end game base?
I think so. You can add your own optional cosmetic, some item, and music mods that are client side as well.
I forget how modding works in this game, do I need to have the exact ones as the server's and no ones besides that?
I love exploring different planets, but I feel like the progression is not satisfying at all.
Wish it wasn't so hard to access all the vanity clothing in the pack, want to see what else would look good on my char
You can always spawn it in a sp world. Kind of cheaty though
Yeah but that only issue is trying to find all the stations with vanity beyond the regular clothing fabricator, or shops with exclusive vanity or vanity exclusive in modded drop pools.
I broke the healing water replicator and have no idea how to set it back up.
healing water machine fixed :3
also finished my ship its very comfy. havent used the general munitions blocks before they're great
Based
Yes but I recommend doing GiC as a standalone game run. The melee weapons break the game until T7 and the guns and explosives break the vanilla game and any mod including FU. They are just so powerful. It is really fun but unbalanced. FFS is kind of balanced in vanilla mid-late game. GiC guns are way cooler/better than FFS with way more depth. But the FFS easter egg guns from the hidden boss are probably the coolest to shoot of any mod. Neither really fit the feel of starbound because they do not overhaul vanilla weapons though. I recommend doing a FFS and GiC run with some friends but going back to more FU or Vanilla themed ones for building/long term.
FU changes the beginning quests. If you want to quickly get through the start, walk around the planet, mine a little copper, iron, wood, stone, clay, and coal. Find the big fluffy guy in a science base, talk to him, make a furnace, then ag station, then engineering table. Make wire, a magnet, then optionally research bone armor and a loom. Make bone armor, walk on the surface until you find a stone cave, finish that dungeon, activate the portal, then you can ignore every other quest. I can do that in about 25min. Research is not a problem if you actually mine a bit.
Are FFS and Galaxy in Conflict compatible?
Are there mods in the server to remove the beginning quests?
When any of you can get on, could use some help locating a Superstorm Star with a Superstorm Expanse planet, I need a source for superstorm electrolite bars.
Sucks trying to find all the fruit trees for brewing stuff.
I think most planets have at least a few fruit trees. I found a lot on starter planets and forest.
Does magic use energy?
Yeah
Maybe I'll try playing. Running around as a mage sounds fun. Am I fricked if I choose the wrong race?
Not really. I think you can turn race traits off. Only thing to look out for is crazy decreases in resistance. It can make it harder/easier to visit high tier planets. Some strong resistances allow you to loot mid game planets in early game for a boost.
Mage is a glass cannon usually. Stongest attacks but a bit of a wind up. Saturnians and shoggoths make good mages but you can pick anything.
>try any class that isn't explorer
>disappointment every time
Solider would be great if not for the stacking movement speed decreases.
Rouge is just fast soldier with bleed. Bleed is op as frick it bypasses any elemental resistance but basically does poison damage. Want some crazy gameplay? Dual wield short spears as a rouge arachne. Late game you move too fast to handle.
Did anyone do something with the leaked source code?
What's a good class for standing still?
knight? Try holding a shield and you're basically good to go.
RPG Growth also has the paladin subclass which gives a badass two handed shield, and does a holy damage type which basically nothing is ever resistant to. It also casts "judgement" on them and makes them fall. bugs out a lot of bosses cause its kinda shitcode hahahah
Thanks! Any others that don't bug stuff?
there should be some crazy high defense shields in frackin' once you get to the later ores. every other shield but the one i mentioned before is one handed so you can easily pair them with some cool one-handed stuff.
if you're looking to stand still with a one handed item, either wands or pistols are fine, but if its a pistol make sure its a good damage type so its not piss weak.
or any melee of your choice if you want them to come to you. good to have both
I was thinking standing still or low movement. Probably not possible with a mage since the other anon said it's a glass cannon right?
You can still use other weapons no problem if its not for your class. RPG Growth is mostly just an addon to your build than a complete defintion
besides, wands/staves make you slowdown shitwalk anyway so its great for staying still
i always liked this game more than terarria, controversial. it just had cooler aesthetic i guess.
Quick question before the thread dies, are the Frackin Robots even any good? I was going for a Dr Robotnik sorta character with mechanist+medic and building a bunch of robot drones, and while the flavor is there I'm worried they're just going to die. Tamer can get out of hand and FU even has an armor set dedicated to supporting pets, not to mention the pets made from the madness tree. I'm about to hit up t4 planets for titanium, and only now just unlocked the baby robots. Is it even worth trying?
I mean, meh. They are op but kind of jank. Honestly robots/trainers is like playing as a mage. You have to micromanage and put as much focus into your jank (spells or robots/pets) as yourself. I prefer any other class to these two because I never feel in control. It makes combat so boring. If you run with GiC FU bots and summons are just meat shields
Yeah, not using GiC currently. In my FU/Arcana run a did some time ago, Trainer was actually pretty easy. Some of the pets are really good if you know where to look. You can grab Wattsper from Mining facility and it's a ranged electric attacker with solid base damage, the ability to phase through walls and it even produces a dim light. I just build myself as defensive as possible with tons of regen items and play tank for the pets. Obviously it isn't going to roll over everything like a pure dex build would, but it's fun from a roleplaying perspective. I'm honest to god tempted to drop bots for pets before I even get Mechanist but I guess I should at least try it. the game's difficulty is just so all over the damn place. Some planets and encounters frick you raw while others pose no challenge whatsoever.
Is there a way to change the weather on a planet?
GiC is an amazing mod but it really does need to be played on its own. One of the space encounters it adds gives hundreds of tier 5/6 ores and thousands of erchius fuel. Another space encounter is a fight with 3 drones, each of which drops 25k pixels and 10 each of manipulator modules, upgrade modules, and tech cards. At that point, why bother engaging with anything FU adds?
Only reason to engage with fu if you have gic is more buffs and the required epps. Also exploration bit the gic weapons make all fu planets a joke.
Cooking, alcohol, farming, bees, etc are still good. Race traits from fu are fun. Honestly it does allow you to invest more into building, chemistry, farming, and electricity if you have gic. The only stuff made useless are the armours and weapons. Suit upgrades are good still.
Are FFS desert eagles completely busted for anyone else? It does almost a full quarter of the Shockhopper's health on a crit, far more than even the GiC guns but without the resource cost.
So is the server dead? Everytime I come on there is just no one else on
I've been doing the same lol, I dont see people online when I join
Sucks, won't stop me from doing my build though. I got the planet coords and doing the arcane house in singleplayer now.
I will run the server at least another month. If it is fully dead dead I can release the map
Bird breasts
>trying to find an earth-like Tabula rasa with a single moon on my single player save
>can't find any, either puke colors or no moon.
kill florans, behead florans, roundhouse kick a floran into the concrete, slam dunk a floran baby into the trash can, crucify filthy florans, defecate into a florans mouth, kick a pregnant green floran with steel toe boots, make florans check my dubs, hang florans like windchimes, launch florans in a rocket into the sun, catapult florans into an active volcano
I wanted to give the server a try but it kept booting me out and I just couldn't for the life of me be arsed to troubleshoot it before getting sidetracked by other games.
fixed
It's still not working, but I do still appreciate the thoughtful gesture, lad.
I tried again. Main issue is just updating the mods when I don't really play video games or use computers anymore.
Cute
