This game was pretty fun, but holy shit did they rush it halfway through. It feels like the last 4 out of 6 levels were all about 3 minutes long each. What happened, did they just run out of time?
(Game is "Dragon Egg!" for the PC Engine)

I believe so, and we never got the sequel promised in the credits.
Ya know, I didn't take that as a lead-in to a sequel, but I suppose you are right. (I'm assuming you are referring to the "See you next time" or similar in the credits)
Yeah, it's a shame really.
I love charming little game like this and I wanted to see more of the lil lass and her dragon.
Before opening the thread I thought it was some obscure game I've never heard of with Toriyama's artwork
yeah, Masaya had some weirdly unpolished games on the pce
for example, shubibinman 3 has very high production values yet also feels like a beta
play liquid kids next, that shit is fire
OK anon, I'll give Liquid Kids a go. It's not related to Toilet Kids, is it? (๑•﹏•)
No, it's a sidescroller where you throw water bombs to stun enemies, and then you stomp on them. Similar to Bubble Bobble. Except you can get a shitload of powerups.
That reminds me, I recently tried Pop'n Magic for the first time, and holy shit is that game punishing. If you get hit once, or god forbid die in one of the later levels, you are basically fricked. What was with the whole shtick of making the game impossible when the player dies? I remember being confused and frustrated by that even growing up in the early 90s.
>What was with the whole shtick of making the game impossible when the player dies?
Arcade mentality, I guess
nah, its a spiritual sequel to new zealand story, but plays more like a side-scrolling bubble bobble
the pce port is pretty good. they cut some of the branching levels, cutscenes and day/night graphics but its a far far better port than new zealand story is, and has all the enemies/bosses/main levels and most of the warps. it's also easier than the arcade version because the fire doesn't spread across tiles
its very rare, you'll wanna emulate it
it's a weirdly easy game, yet if you die once, the game becomes impossible (you're stuck as the little girl with zero range)
Based OP actually posting the game name for once
It's literally right there
Everyone on this website should be able to read at LEAST hiragana
You will never be Japanese, they will never accept you
He never said to learn the whole language or anything, and considering that a lot of retro games are Japanese, it's a useful skill to learn
Apparently it even has an English fan translation. Will give it a try
Cute shopkeeper.
>Fushigi no Yume no Alice
If you want another "cute" PC Engine title, there's this Alice in Wonderland themed game.
That does look very cute, thanks anon.
Just tried to play this and it's pretty fricking tough.
i can't get through the final stage 🙁
Are the Yuna games any good?
I don't know but Yuna's a cutie
