That's because the people who made it actually gave a shit. It was the last time square actually tried.
I feel like it was a culmination of everything they learned from the 2D era.
The worst part of this is that he can pick up a fricking train but there are tons of enemies with float on them that he cant pick up and throw down.
He can reach them because he's a manlet.
It still bothers me that for supposed remasters the backgrounds and character sprites were way worse than the originals.
Think of all the jeets they saved
>modern font
Cringe, switch to the classic font.
>3 posts complaining about font in a row out of nowhere
Relax you autistic Black person
No, if you like that font and don't see an issue with it I genuinely think you have no understanding as art
Like this guy. Dude, if you don't think the font is bad I genuinely think you might be a hylic.
the font is so fricking disgusting. is there a fix?
yes, takes 2 seconds to replace the font file with any font of your choosing
game also has another font you can switch to without modding but it's also shit
Yeah, there aren't a ton of mods for the Pixel Remasters, but they do the job and font changes are the most easily accessible.
That looks horrible, what were they thinking, the original looked fine.
What game is this? Also is there a way to replace the terrible font with something else
>What game is this?
final fantasy 6 pixel remaster
>Also is there a way to replace the terrible font with something else
yes
Should I just play the original on some SNES emulator?
Definitely not.
Definitely
Agreed. Fiesta in 24 days.
Don't listen to this troll, you can't even play the English version on SNES
play the psx version on a Playstation emulator
yes, always play the original version of any old game, otherwise you're not playing that game and can't even talk about it
DO NOT play the GBA versions of ff6 and stuff like that, they ruin both the graphics and sound, people here advocated for those versions for like 20 years, because they didn't play on fricking snes
play the snes version and have the original experience as intended
>yes, always play the original version of any old game, otherwise you're not playing that game and can't even talk about it
Absolutely not, many games HAVE to be altered/modded to be played properly. I remember a guy who stubbornly played through unmodded Temple of Elemental Evil despite being told not to, then acted shocked when he didn't enjoy the game and everyone called him a moron. He then spent months schizophrenically complaining about issues that no one cared about because they didn't exist. You always play the best version of a game, not the first. You don't get a gold star for playing the "pure" version, and if you were the super fan you pretend to be you'd have played both versions anyways.
>Should I just play the original on some SNES emulator?
No, the PR has better artwork and music, which was supervised by the original developers, you can shut off encounters, it has autosaves, the translation is more accurate, etc. There aren't functionally different enough for it to really matter which one you choose, but the PR is objectively better and you'll be more likely to enjoy and finish it. The original mostly just exists for mods now if you're a speedrunner troony or something.
worlds collide is an pretty fun randomizer hacker though
It's the most consistent of the FF series, and the most replayable.
The ps1 games are far too slow, especially the loading times every battle, and all the cinematic camera movement nonsense that you have to wait for.
That version looks bloody awful
>That version looks bloody awful
Looks good to me.
This was more important, please understand.
You make a valid if facetious point. But isn't there at least some artistic merit to the finest food ever 3D rendered?
>the finest food ever 3D rendered
Money can't buy talent.

For a lot of people today Final Fantasy starts at 7 or 14, so they never even played it.
The pixel remasters were really good.
sure but whats up with their choice in font
there wasn't a choice it was coincidental. they designed the remasters for japanese characters obviously and the english font is the same font.
why are they called pixel remasters when they look worse
No they weren't. Every single platform the pixel remaster released on, including pc, has noticeable and constant stuttering every time you movie. The game doesn't scroll smoothly and it pisses me off so much it's unplayable so I just keep playing them on the nes and snes. Sucks because the pixel remasters do look nice but god damn that stuttering in inexcusable and it's hard baked into the programming so square can't fix it
>Every single platform the pixel remaster released on, including pc, has noticeable and constant stuttering every time you movie
I'm playing it right now on switch and no it doesn't.
Yes it does. When you walk up/down/left/right the frame rate stutters. Notice how scrolling is only smooth when you walk diagonally? That's the way its supposed to be but the messed up programming the game
No it doesn't.
I played 6 on PC with frame counter and I have no idea what you're talking about
Square could have made a DS-era remake along with V back in the day, but they pissed that away.
>but they pissed that away
What do you mean?
top tier octopus
The opera scene alone would cost $500M
Remember when they scanned rocks for ff15?
Didn't stop them from doing it in FF7 Rebirth.
And now the company is bankrupt and cancelling games left and right
They said something similar about FF7, then they went and created that abomination anyway.
>They said something similar about FF7
Did they? I don't think they did but I could be wrong.
that typeface is a crime
>disgusting HD font that clashes with the artstyle
ew
Heard you the first time
you realize more than 1 person shares this thought right? I don't understand why you would want to defend that ugly crap but whatever dude.
>you realize more than 1 person shares this thought right
It's pretty obvious it's just you
Nah bro it really is that bad that everyone will point it out. Let me guess you go outside and everyone points and laughs at how ugly you are then you say
>"n-no it's just one person saying it"
keep your schizo delusions to yourself. closing this thread
V was better.
I think 6 is better as a final fantasy game. Tons of crazy memorable characters, hidden super items, secret bosses and dungeons, everything you'd expect from final fantasy.
This game is broken in all the right ways.
I always feel bad for giving Setzer the Offering/Master's Scroll since Locke and Shadow are pretty much worthless without it and Setzer doesn't need it to be good. But it's so damn broken on him that I can't resist.
Shadow still does ok with shuriken spam.
Locke can frick off. Useless gay thinks he can insert himself into the party all the time in WoB when he doesn't have any of his good stuff yet? He can sit on the bench in WoR.
I don't like how all six PR games use the "turn purple and crumble" animation for bosses. Each game had a different animation for that before. I especially miss the standard enemy death animation from FF4.
Good ol' Fixed Dice.
How'd you get the Fixed Dice at this point? It's in Kefka's Tower.
You can go straight to the final boss the second you get an airship in world of ruin and you can enter and leave kefka's tower at any time. The chest is like 2 screens into his base, so you need only survive until you reach it, which can be done easily by running from everything.
Yeah, but from what I remember, Dullahan is mandatory to fight before you get the Falcon.
It's not Fixed Dice, just regular. Fixed Dice always rolls 3 dice. So you can see Setzer is level 23 in the first clip, for instance, since the roll is 2 x 5 x (2 x Lvl) = 460. Since the second roll is a double, you multiply by the number again (6 x 6 x 6 x 46 = 9936).
>Dullahan is mandatory to fight before you get the Falcon
The first webm is not fixed dice, just regular dice dual wielded with genji gloves. The second one is fixed dice + dice + gloves + master scroll, killing the boss to get quick with lets me roll the dice 16 times in a row, all of which can potentially hit for 9999 damage.
>that square enix said its impossible to remake in a modern format.
Why would you have any faith or confidence in Square Enix's ability to do that?
I regret playing BNW because now I can't play the pixel remaster as it feels like a massive downgrade
Shill your mods elsewhere
i don't even know if i've ever seen ultros x relm 34
it was mostly edgar or that haunted painting
This game has the coolest final boss every.
nu-square would never
I had to turn the game to easy mode to beat him…
Think about how much worse bravely default and octopath are compared to this. What happened?
simplified
FF6 isn't even a deep game. I'd even argue its for morons, like all final fantasy games. Its just tons of good content.
>I'd even argue its for morons
>Its just tons of good content.
A game making sense and not needing arcane engine-level knowledge is NOT moronic.
I've been playing FF6 for 1st time this week and I'm kinda finding it boring compared to 7 and 8 and 10. I've just got to bit where the Airship breaks down. I'm finding it hard to even keep track of all the characters and their backstories. It wasn't like this in 7 and 8 and 10.
>I'm finding it hard to even keep track of all the characters and their backstories.
you might have stupid, go see a doctor.
There's too many playable characters and they go away and come back and swap around and whatnot. The other FF games I played were more straightforward in that regard.
Nope. I find the game pretty easy. I have no issues with the combat. Its the story and characters where my issues are.
Forgot to mention I'm emulating the SNES USA version. I'm not playing the pixel remaster.
>Forgot to mention I'm emulating the SNES USA version.
That was stupid. I'd play PR for the ability to shut off random encounters alone. The SNES version is also the Woolsey translation, which is way worse, so its not surprising you don't like the characters.
Pixel remaster is overpriced.
Its only $18 and has gone on sale multiple times. Square charged $50 for that shitty ass Saga game, these are a steal by comparison and if you wait for a sale you can get all 6 of them at once for that price, or just pirate it.
>or just pirate it.
I tired but it kept giving this error so then I just decided to emulate the snes version
Okay, so you are the guy from before who was crying about not being able to do damage and is also too stupid to pirate the game.
Nope. I never complained about being able to do damage. That was someone else. I have zero issues with the combat side of the game.
sus
Well I mean you can see in my earlier post in this thread I only complained about characters and story. I never mentioned anything about combat.
It's damn repulsive talk to people with subpar low standards like you.
>The SNES version is also the Woolsey translation, which is way worse, so its not surprising you don't like the characters.
utter abject moron
Son of a submariner!
The SNES version is superior to the pixel remaster in literally every way, including translation.
No, you couldn't afford the PR because you're a moron from a third world country, and now despite not even liking the game, you are trying to drag down discussion so you dont feel bad for being a pigheaded idiot. Really miss when Ganker was just America and Japan.
This is the dumbest post I've seen today. The pixel remasters are dirt cheap and you still invented this shitty story.
Are you the guy that was crying damage was too low?
You are a braindead cultist if you think these demakes are good. Holy shit, Square Enix fanboys are beyond salvation.
>Square Enix fanboys
I don't even like Square Enix at all but the PRs are excellent. Just listen to this:
?si=wDrrS0yfnp6zQYTt&t=5015
This slaps.
?si=iy85hXy8h4gXd57N&t=3454
?si=NE-8E6ZLMDDUUbJr&t=5408
world of light would be doable. but imagine all the seperate interactions they would have to make in world of ruin where you can straight up reclaim the entire cast, or go it alone with just like 3 characters.
The pixel remasters should have added voice acting to all the games
Who would voice Ultros?
Simon Templeman
Gilbert Gottfried, if he was still alive.
I love 6, but for as much as I didn't much care for five, I loved the idea of classes and mixing up classes and their techniques rather than just being a character class.
I hated FFVI. I probably would've hated it slightly less if people didn't suck it's dick like there was no tomorrow.
Just a dull game.
>if people didn't suck it's dick like there was no tomorrow.
They do that because its good. You like shit. That's not normal.
It's not good, it's insanely boring and has the worst story out of any FF game I've played, even XII.
>muh HECKIN SUPLEX THE TRAIN ZOMG
It's the absolute poster-child of a game that people love purely for nostalgic reasons. Otherwise, it is a completely generic JRPG.
>has the worst story
What story? You just go on crazy mini adventures which ultimately culminate in beating a clown to death. FF6 is full of absolutely sick as frick ideas, like you have a castle that can burrow into the ground and travel underneath the continent, which is already super cool, but they don't stop there. Eventually when traveling with it you get stuck on an ancient fallen civilization deep underground full of samurai ghosts, fight a dragon, and get super magic, and the game does nothing to indicate any of this is possible, you just find it by accident. The spirit of adventure is off the charts, very few JRPGs do this better. And the train suplex is only the beginning of memorable stuff if the game, theres way crazier and more iconic things like the opera and statue of gods.
>the opera
God, please frick off with this. I remember asking when the game gets good and several responses were "when you reach the opera bro".
Opera sucked. The game sucks. Frick FFVI. Terra is cute, though.
>Opera sucked
how lol
It was a nothingburger. I can barely even remember it and my first playthrough of the game was only a few years ago.
>It was a nothingburger.
Its pretty amazing. Actually, all the ultros fights are great now that I think about it.
I only really liked 7 tbh.
It's okay you're just a normie/millennial. Incurable, unfortunately.
You like Final Fantasy games, you aren't much better than him.
Yeah, but my favourites are 13, 8 and 2.
>13
what 13 and 8 have just as good storys as each other!
I don't get why 7 is so beloved, I played it recently for the first time and it felt ok, but nothing really special.
I played 7 then 8 then 9 and thought 9 was the best out of the 3.
9 is closer to the old games.
Same. I played it back in the day and it bored me. I liked ff9 though and I can play 4 and 6 nonstop but 7 is just boring and uninteresting
I feel like all the other Nintendo FF games except IV really benefitted from the Pixel Remaster release, but VI is the only one where the game being remade in that style strikes me as potentially not a good choice, because the original had such better graphics than IV and V and it seems like actually not really much of an upgrade at all.
>mobile remake is fricking horrible
>devs are surprised to hear that no one actually wanted smooth art
>pixel remaster is almost as bad
it's amazing how bad SE has become that it even rivals modern Blizzard but they get nowhere near the criticism that they deserve
Octopath II was better in every aspect, I played both back-to-back as well. FF6 feels devoid and stale compared to Octopath, which has WAY more weapons/accessories/customization, better battles, more content, more music, significantly larger open-world and more interesting dungeons. Octopath is just better in every regard, I can't go back to the early FF's because of the straight improvements it offers
Octopath certainly has more of everything, but quality > quantity, so FF6 is still a better game.
>Octopath II was better in every aspect
Nope
>eva Black person is a shit eater
sad but not surprising
i like both
just starting a new playthrough now with agnea, the true starter character
I disliked the first Octopath so much I just don't listen to nintendies any more when it comes to opinions on games. It got huge praise here so I tried it and it was like a 2/10 game at best, the combat and progression was boring mobile game tier shit, and the story/exploration was really deadpan and disjointed. I do not think I will ever be playing the sequel after being so blatantly lied to. Xenoblade was the same where I tried 2 games and they were both like the worst things I ever played in my entire life.
Also, I really hate this graphic style where half the screen is blurred out at all times. The people responsible for this should be publicy executed.
agnia's sister wants to have yuri sex with her, but I guess that's just not real to you
Why are you in this thread when you clearly hate JRPGs?
>if you don’t like HD-2D and Xenoblade you don’t like JRPGs
The only good XC is the first one once you get over the shitty side quests and realize the main bad guy isn't the Metal Face guy. Exploring a giant mech is fun and the game rewards exploring by giving you affinity coins for finding and killing unique mobs. XC2 and 3 completely ruin the exploration which was the best part of the first game, especially 3.
NTA but Xenoblade barely qualifies as a RPG.. or even a game for that matter. I was shocked when i played 2 after all the constant dick sucking.
I made the thread.
Consuming shit doesn't mean you like a genre. People who play a lot of a genre have higher standards. Someone who eats mcdonalds every day doesn't like food, they like eating.
>Someone who eats mcdonalds every day doesn't like food, they like eating.
I disagree. mcdonalds is better food than most of humanity has ever eaten
fat
Octopath and FF6 are both horrible compared to Crystal Project. Both in terms of exploration and combat Crystal Project just absolutely destroys every other turn-based JRPG besides maybe Etrian Odyssey since I love exploring those dungeons.
crystal project dev pls relax. your game is good too
Yeah probably but if they pull it off successfully they’ll save gaming
FFVI made me realize why Disney decided to work with them. Square was such a kino developer and it's sad what they became after FFX.
if you play this game looking like this you should retire from video games
I miss Ultros posting. Carlos is lame.
FF5 is the most replayable classic FF and it isn't even close
why?
you don't replay classic FF games. why would you? for the striking gameplay? rofl
a low iq person is someone replaying classic ff games
You sure sound like a fun person anon
I’ve played through the pixel remasters of 1-5 and just never got to 6, still not sure if I should. I enjoyed 1, 2, and 5 the most
>You sure sound like a fun person anon
a fun person would play a different fricking video game with gameplay instead of replaying ff, get bent
>”Nooo! You can’t replay a video game anon! Fun is not allowed!!!”
Lick my toes nerd
Frick you Ame you're a loose b***h
Cry about it
I'll frick your fat sloppy breasts you prostitute
Why would you ever replay a Final Fantasy game? How does anyone have that much free time on their hands
I find FF3 to be pretty good. Underrated as frick. Pixel Remaster fixed pretty much all the main flaws from the previous version.
>crystal tower
No, frick that game
You can save anywhere in the pixel remaster.
That's gay.
You can if you want, but Crystal Tower isn't even that hard. As long as you did the extra dungeons like Leviathan and Bahamut's cave, you barely need to grind. Only complaint I can see that it's a long dungeon, which is fixed in the PR.
Yeah, the differences for the older games are pretty staggering. A lot was changed and generally for the better.
Even with its flaws, NES and DS version of 3 is perfectly playable and fun.
Is it bad that the most emotional moment in FF6 for me was the two npcs having a child in the world of ruin?
No, because the rest of the game sucked.
The theme of the game is that magic is being rediscovered, and monsters made out of magic are everywhere, so there are these two broken spells that jeopardize the game called osmose and rasp, draining mp to 0 kills the monsters.
chud party composition
I'm still mad VI didn't get a PSP port,
At least it emulates it perfectly.
I'm 3 hours into Xenoblade 2 and it's shaping up to be a marvelous game. Game has charm, soul, and it oozes love. 10/10.
