Lmao that isn't art direction thats flashy cinematics. Art direction is a consistent and distinct aesthetic that persists in both the mundane and the focal points of visual art or media. Alan Wake 2 might sometimes have flashy and stylized cinematics at focal points in the story, but the art direction of the mundane moment-to-moment world you interact with is still just unnoteworthy photorealism, and thus undeserving of am art direction award.
I didn't really like RE4 that much, it was fine but AW2 is nearly perfect. I only reinstalled RE4 recently to try that DLC but I can't stand Ada's voice actor so I'm holding off until a mod fixes it like they did with the base game.
The Mind Place and the amount of Saga internal dialogue that basically puts the gameplay on hold goes into the same "annoying shit I have to sit through" category as Ada's voice acting and it takes up considerably more of AW2 than Ada's presence in RE4RE.
I'm glad you enjoyed it at least. I couldn't empathize with her because her number one priority was her daughter being dead without having the player at least establish a connection with her in playable flashbacks or a prologue before entering chapter one. At least show the scene with revised Logan drowning and current Saga trying to reach her when she enters the Dark Place. But that doesn't happen so she's essentially whining about her life possibly being ruined when there's an immediate world ending event that has already revised the realities of everyone around her. One of the few times she has a window to communicate with Alan is spent scolding him for writing in her dead daughter when there are more pressing matters at hand. The story doesn't even let her catch up with Casey putting him in an awful predicament, which the game blatantly points out by the end. She's SUPPOSED to be an awful character because we wrote her that way and it's all left up to fate, but she's also special due to her half-viking/half-lance reddick bloodline and resistant to the dark presence. So the final Mind Place scene is kind of annoying to get through when it's a 10 minute pity sequence if you don't like the character, it's especially insulting when they can't write a proper ending and need to fall back on meta-commentary, "okay, we don't know how to wrap this up or ran out of time so we're dropping you back in the same slice of New York for the fifth time to answer one last phone call."

Agreed, AW1 did well with this by giving us those flashback scenes with Alice, they could've tossed in something like that here to make Logan into an actual character and not a mcguffin.
It's probably a good game but peanuts amount of players have played it. AW2 was among the nominees in way too many categories, it's absolutely silly considering how few people have touched the game for now.
