This game's community is downright one of the worst I have ever encountered in an online game. Between the toxic positivity, the cult fanbase, and how people just willingly enable the absolute worst behavior/gameplay you can possibly imagine, it's almost unbearable to interact with this game's community at times.
Beyond that, this game is far, far too easy. I'm not asking for casual content to be 'hard', but the game doesn't ever even attempt to force players to learn even the most basic of concepts. This allows the absolute worst players imaginable to get all the way to endgame with their 'habits' because it 'worked' that long. This shouldn't be possible. They should be forced to at least learn and perform the bare minimum in order to progress to max level.

It is NOT a bannable offense to remind a SAM to keep their dot up or explain a boss mechanic so they don't die constantly. Those could actually improve their DPS or they could legitimately be trying their best and they're just not very good. If they don't improve, just leave the group after a kill/couple of wipes, blacklist the bad players and move on with your life.

No different than what a HoT healer has to deal with if we're talking about number of times the encounter forces a GCD heal of some form to survive a following mechanic.

Even the most recent Extreme trials can be pretty daunting if you don't have a good group to practice with, and at this point in my life I staunchly refuse to make new friends and/or commit an entire 2-3 days of my life to dealing with other people's bullshit in a video game for minimal rewards.
Maybe it's just all MMOs but the problem is that "practice" is not practicing your class but memorizing the fight. It's a dance. There's no real skill involved, just training your brain to press X button at Y time or you die. In real life, training is memorizing how to use all the tools at your disposal, and then being given free reign to figure out what tool or combination of tools you need in X scenario to succeed. The latter is what takes skill.

Depends on the person, but whether you engage with the social aspect or not, at its core it's a fun way to bring OCs and/or delusions to life with very low barriers of entry.

The issue is that because a parser and a cheating plugin are equally against the rules, and nothing is enforced anyway, the line between what's cheating or not is treated by a lot of the community as something that's up for players to decide, rather than the absent enforcers at square enix. Having to use your camera intelligently to maximize your ability to see mechanics is a part of being skilled at raiding. Shrinking the boss so you don't have to manipulate your camera as much to see mechanics is kinda cheating.

It makes the tether mechanic easier to do, since it's easier to see who has the tethers if people are under the boss and it makes it easier for the tether players to spread out in different directions. With a good group this shouldn't be an issue, but it enables bad players to play on par with good players without playing better.
I consider any modification of game files that makes a mechanic/encounter easier to execute cheating, and I would include this in that.
An ultra wide monitor would make the game easier than this.

There's an NPC who gives you a side quest in Anagnorisis, I forget their name but the quest involves asking other researchers to sample fruit they'd grown. They mistake you for Azem before you give them the whole "I'm Azem's familiar thing". I don't have any images but if you haven't already done that quest you can back to Elpis and see for yourself.

That's just based on the difficulty/value of reward ratio. DSR is the hardest, but most people don't consider the rewards better than TEA weapons or UCoB title, so they don't want to do it. TOP weapons are unique, and while I think they're ugly as sin, most people seem to think they're worth the time investment. Guess we'll see in a few months if people stick with it or give up.
I also think that you shouldn't view Ultimate clear rates as a metric for valuable dev time. Seeing players with cool rewards from difficult encounters can strive people to get better and engage with the game in ways that are very hard to quantify.

Ph1 felt like they balanced it around optimal rng and JP latency. Healers gets absolutely wrecked with risk trying to maintain full uptime in it, especially non-SGEs.
Caster uptime is "easy" you just need to time your first GCD in pantokrator right, if you're off by a half second you don't have time to slidecast out of the AOEs and the whole phase is just a pain in the ass.
It's almost as if it takes skill.
Ain't happening unless everyone's lining up their circles perfectly so you can slide-cast without accidentally interrupting your cast, or risking eating the stacked AoEs. They also go out every 3s vs. your 2.5s cast.

Crit variance has been a problem this whole expac. I was seeing it with my group even in DSR where sometimes on Wyrmhole we'd be 6% ahead, and other times barely scraping by, despite no deaths.

Hard walled, if you don't play 100% perfectly you basically won't make it, and there's a much harder raid comp you need to avoid getting hard-walled on buffs or missing out on damage during burst windows.
