This got a NES port for reasons unknown. It's mostly the copypasted Gameboy version and is pretty unoptimized and runs like shit because why would anyone give a frick about a new NES game in 1994?

is it worse than lion king on nes?
>is it worse than lion king on nes?
Nah Lion King is worse. That was also a Gameboy port but they cut the ROM size down by half for the NES and it's only like UNROM or something while TJB at least is MMC3.
I believe most copies of this game would have been rentals.
did they also cut the ROM size down for TJB?
No it's 128k in both games. The Lion King was 512k on GB and they cut it to 256k for the NES. I doubt 512k ROMs were breaking the bank in 1994 but they weren't gonna spend any more than the bare minimum on a new NES release at that point.
>why would anyone give a frick about a new NES game in 1994
>children whose parents refuse to upgrade their family's game console
>children who want a game based on a Disney animated film
Combine two
>children whose parents refuse to upgrade their family's game console
I am one of those unfortunate children. Terrible game.
>pretty unoptimized and runs like shit
Wdym? It runs fine https://youtu.be/194rM_R3_U8
Also, a 56mins "longplay" makes for a pretty big game. There are other platformers of the era who are more around the 30mins longplay mark.
I have a soft spot for the SNES version as I remember playing it on a Blockbuster kiosk in '94 when I was 6, but this NES port is for the birds.
the Mexican Runner took 2 hours and 44 minutes to beat this game. it's not hard but it's also not a cakewalk. also the Euro bathtub gargle music can get annoying after a while.
>Levels are completed by collecting a sufficient number of gems, then finding a specific character placed in the level.
Holy shit, what is with Europoors and their obsession with collecting gems in games?
Let me guess... when americans do it it's a good thing
Should have been made by Capcom but I guess they were too busy.
They thought it was what would qualify a game for the acclaimed hidden gem category.
Back when the bongistanis were an empire they were obsessed with gems and diamonds and did all kinds of crazy expeditions to dangerous places (well, senr natives to do it for them rather) to find them
Before bothering to look it up just now in an urgent need for a quick reply, I thought this was made by Westwood Studios like the MegaDrive versions of both TLK & Aladdin games were, and also the MS-DOS version of A Nightmare on Elm Street,
how about third fricking worlders you rich butthole
Like I said I did play this on SNES at a Blockbuster when I was 6 and had absolutely no clue what I was doing, and I still remember the death animation with Mogwai being carted off on a stretcher.
Mogwai? That's Gremlins. His name is Mowgli, guy.
one case where I prefer this NES version over the SNES--cleaner and more direct/easy to figure out what do to
IDK about the NES version but the SNES game is very brutally hard and very few people have ever gotten past Kaa without a Game Genie while the Mega Drive version is quite easy.
Most of us beat the game when we were 8. Git gud.
Also guess what? There is no save game feature so you have to beat it all in one sitting. Yay.
Zoomer post. No action games had save features on the NES except for Kirby's Adventure. You were supposed to replay the game until you could finish it in one sitting. How else were you supposed to get your parents' money's worth out of a thirty minute game? If you're gonna be a fight just emulate it and save wherever the frick you want.
meaning the SNES version had no save feature not even a password
trick to beating Kaa is to move to the edge of the screen so his shots don't hit you. if you stay in the middle of the screen you will get hit.
>why would anyone care about a new NES game in '94
Because it's the most kino console of all time?
I played it as a kid, not bad really but the death pits everywhere made me rage
