Everyone says edgerunners is what made people appreciate the game but I feel like it had the opposite effect for me. I enjoyed the game but the anime really showed how lacking it was. In 12 episodes they had a better representation of cyberpsychosis, Adam Smasher, max-tac etc a more developed character arc for the MC from random mook to legend a more sympathic death for the buddy character and so on. I think what was most annoying though was how badly it squandered the soundtrack. Nobody gave a shit about any of the music until edgerunners actually put it to use while the game sidelined it to the radio in favor of someone rubbing their ballsack along a synth for the entire game. Why did they even bother licensing the music.
Edgerunner is unironically a better cyberpunk story than the game. Just proves Japs can write better than Poles

The words 'never stop resisting' of a Punk who eventually became a ghost after losing everything and paying the price is an epitaph left by him who has become too old for people today who have lost everything.

Cyberpunk should've been a genuine low-stakes story of Ganker and his crew slowly getting picked off as they get closer and closer to the Engram Heist. Then they can powerlevel with the Keanu Chungus and Atom Smasher shit in an epilogue expac (which is the game we got).
