yea PS2 is very prone to break, better to just use ps3. pretty much anything noteworthy on ps2 runs on ps3 or had some kind of "hd release"

I only plug my PS2 in whenever I want to play the Ratchet & Clank games. Everything else has gotten a HD rerelease that is better.

Oh yeah if we're counting handhelds. But even then, I'd think the NDS library is stronger overall even if the 3DS has more of my favorite games.
honest question, i feel like i missed out on 3DS
i got loads of mileage out of my DS and had boatloads of games for it but the 3DS didnt do it for me, ended up owning around 10 games for it
There's a lot of obscure jrpgs on the 3DS I enjoyed a lot. My buddy's in college and I also played a lot of Monster Hunter.
The 3DS had a lot of cool games and rereleases of older titles that never were brought to the west (like soul hackers). It is a console that got a lot better as it aged, though. If you got it at release, I can see why you think it sucked. And the CFW scene for it was pretty damn cool.
Most console libraries are better. You will never see a PS2 game collection image that doesn't have inferior multiplats and shovelware.

i had 4 of these things and all they were used for was dvds and gta san andreas. not that my gamecube got much use either aside from smash bros but godamn the xbox was everyones go to. once my dad got that stupid ass remote to play dvds and we got gta for it i dont think we ever turned on a PS2 again.
I'm not sure what my favorite game on it is, but I'm positive that I like my favorite game on the PS3 and PS4 more than whatever my favorite PS2 game is. FF10, probably.
There's no doubt that the system's good. The thing is though, growing up I fricking love the Crash games and seeing that the PS2 Crash games are either half-baked and/or meh made me give the PS1 a bit higher praise.

Are there any decent wireless controllers that work natively on a PS2? The original corded ones are so fricking short that any time I want to use my PS2 I have to move the damn thing into the middle of my floor.
Have a look into "brooks ps2 converters", they let you use most wireless controllers with old consoles
