3 is your average rockstar game with a drunk melancholic middle aged man that kills entire country of methheads saying he didnt wanted with best euphoria physcis and shooting gameplay
The game loves to be cheap though. >enemy pointing their gun at the place where your head is going to be once you open the door thus taking 75% of health in one shot
I'm one of the OG morons that love this game and treat Max and Sam as childhood friends adjacent entities, with that said I always play it without saving, only level saves, one mistake and I start over that level. Yeah I'm that autistic.
I shit you not how painful it was to go through the nightmares without the fps cap, until I found that out I was suffering like a moron on every playthrough.
The PC version was much harder than what I remember from the PS2 so I've always wondered if they changed the difficulty for consoles. Special mention to enemies with shotguns that nick 2/3 f your health from the other side of the room.
That was before I found out that the roll is OP and you shouldn't dive all the time.
I think the PC version is harder. The bullets do more damage because you're expected to hit enemies quicker, before they land shots on you, thanks to your increases aiming ability with your mouse.
It soothes my autism that bullet casings and bodies don't vanish for a long time in this game. I wish all that extra computing power nowadays would be used for stuff like in shooters this instead of the protagonist's nose hair.
I replayed it recently, the game holds up surprisingly well, especially for a PC TPS of that era. It's definitely one of the greatest games of all time.
Agree. Beat it a few months ago. >controls are razor sharp, high sensitivity for quick motions >story is (while not original) well-told and fun to play through >voice acting is great, even for minor bad guys >gunplay is satisfying thanks to the slow-mo and the great variety in weapons >entire game is surprisingly well balanced, you kill enemies quickly but you can't take more than a few hits before it's over >thanks to patches and mods that upscale the textures and add true widescreen it even looks pretty good
Overall very entertaining.
I think it's a classic but definitely had kinks. the real time projectiles were cool but combined with the generally bad weapon accuracy and spongey enemies it made the gunplay feel kind of blueballs. like you just want to pull off a slick shootdodge and pop 3 guys in a row and it just never really materializes.
that can be fixed removing the meme dynamic difficulty implemented al resident evil 2 remake that an algorithm makes enemies spongier and more lethal depending how much good you are playing and savecumming
>Literally a bunch of broke people making a game in a basement, with themselves starring as the game characters because they can't afford actors
Dare I say more soul is not even possible?
>first game has heavy ragnarok/apocolyptic metaphors littered throughout
>subsequent sequels completely abandon this
Why?
The second game was a love story and the third one was "world's worst bodyguard"-simulator.
Max's suicidal death mission of vengeance was fulfilled, there was less reason for him to be so apocalyptic in 2. Haven't played 3.

Because it fitted in the start of 2000s
That stopped after you killed Lupino, then things got silly with the government conspiracy and secret lab.
still one of my favorites
haven't replayed in years though
dont save scum too much

>playing control
>cannot progress any further due to data
Wtf I didn’t know until recently if you shoot the bank alarm Max will thank you directly
I knew he does if you shoot an elevator's music speaker

the flesh...the flesh...I think I died, I think I'm dead I don't know, I don't know.

>play second nightmare sequence
>reach a dead end in the blood maze
>that chilling baby scream
Why is Ganker such a boomer-board now? Frick this game's old and ugly.
Your mom's old and ugly too but we have to endure her moronic mutt-spawn posting shit-tier opinions on this board so it all evens out.
how do i make it work?
There's an all-in-one fixer on Steam.

>Max Payne was originally released for Microsoft Windows in July 2001
I'm sure its very soulful. But no thanks.

The soul was amputated the second Rockstar got their dirty claws in it.
That changes nothing about MP1
That's true. I thought you meant the franchise as a whole.
