The Dragon Quest IP does not belong to Square-Enix. Dragon Quest belongs to Armor Project, who then works with Square-Enix and other companies to develop and publish the game. Armor Project is owned by Yuji Horii and the board of director is filled with Horii's family members.

It's a movie game in 2D too. In classic 2D Dragon Quest, "cutscene" would start when you talked to a relevant NPC or stepped on the designated spot. But it was mostly just dialogue with maybe a character or two moving a bit during the dialogue. Often your party members would stay quiet and the only person talking would be the npcs and villains. The games would transition in-and-out of "cutscenes" the same way you do with dialogue, it was seamless, you'd press A on the last dialogue box and you'd be back in gameplay. But in DQ11's 2D mode, the cutscenes mimick their 3D self and they end up being much longer than other 2D DQ cutscenes; the game does a fade-to-black at the beginning of cutscenes, then the cutscene starts with your character moving forward 2-3 steps everytime like in 3D cutscenes (even though you were already moving forward in gameplay), the characters move around a lot more, your party members have tons of dialogue, then there's another fade-to-black at the end of the cutscene.

I just want to know why we’re choosing now to dig up this drama. DQ has been censoring old designs for years now. Maya’s outfit definitely never would’ve flown if it were pitched for a newer DQ game, so it just makes sense they’d censor it. I mean just look at how they massacred female Warrior armor in DQ11
1. The female Warrior NPCs in Dragon Quest XI is not literally the female Warrior from Dragon Quest III. Maya in Dragon Quest Monster Dark Prince is literally the same Maya from Dragon Quest IV.
2. The female Warrior design was changed in a way that still looks good, just less sexy. The new Maya design isn't just less sexy, it looks fricking awful.
3. They want to keep mainline Dragon Quest games available to children, so they censor some designs to get a CERO A rating. However, they don't mind if Dragon Quest spin-offs get a higher rating, which is why Maya's costume is uncensored in Dragon Quest Heroes which has a CERO B rating. This new censored design is from Dragon Quest Monsters: The Dark Prince which also has a CERO B rating. This means that the censorship comes purely from the developers deciding the costume should be no in the game, rather than done so they can sell it to children.

That just grants access to some bonus maps and the online store. The main game itself was local co-op only to begin with but access to that shop makes it easier to buy things that are stupidly rare or deep post game only.
Having access to online also made it so characters from previous DQ games joined you inn and you could get their outfits.

Yeah I'm pretty sure the gadabout class turns into sage if you max them to level 20. And I'm 90% sure mastered skills carry over to other classes if you change that party members class. So you could have a sage that knew some thief skills for example.
half of your stats carry over to the new class, along with all abilities learned.
so if you want a "Paladin" like class, start off with the priest, and when u have enough MP, swap to the warrior, and ull keep the healing spells u learned, and have some basic MP to work with (as warrior gains non naturally)
if you wanted less mp, and more combat stats, then a more middleground class, like thief. (to have the heals, you need to go priest, then thief, then warrior)
