This is a remaster. Not a remake. Same thing Squeenix did with Crisis Core FF7. Redone graphics but little to no changes to gameplay or maps with nothing new added.
Is that a bad thing? Not necessarily, if you've never played SMRPG this could be a fine way to experience it. But if you've played it multiple times, then there's nothing new for you aside from new few animated cutscenes you could view on youtube. There's no hard mode, new areas or bosses to fight to keep it as 1:1 to the original as possible.

It's All Fucked Shirt $22.14 |
have they verified it will be 1:1?
there were changes with the links awakening remake
comparing tile by tile from the trailer to the original, yes it looks copypasted straight from snes so 1:1
>it's a remaster
>no it's a remake
gaming semantics sucks shit
Only if you are a moronic illiterate
This is a remake you stupid homosexual
It's not, moron.
if this was a remaster, it would still look like the original game but upscaled.
its a remake because they are...get this...remaking all the assets of the game. none of these 3d models existed in the original game.
It's not a remake because, get this, they haven't remade any of the game they just replaced some textures and smoothed out the models.
>SNES game
>models
>just replaced some textures and smoothed out the models.
no they redesigned them from scratch they are not using any original assets.
>,They haven't remade any of the game they just replaced some textures and smoothed out the models.
> they just replaced some textures and smoothed out the models
> they haven't remade any of the game
Black person, is this bait or are you like actually fricking moronic?
When you are so insecure about your personality that you resort to ironic shitposting, pretending to be moronic and and lies to get any form of discussion going, you eventually come full circle and become genuinely moronic.
So yes, he is actually a downie.
>textures
>models
>SNES game
You okay anon? Do you know what those words mean?
why is it so fricking hard for people to understand the difference between a remaster and a remake?
whats the difference?
>Same thing Squeenix did with Crisis Core FF
Crisis core was changed in its gameplay for the better. I dont trust nintendo with remasters so i doubt they are gonna revamp something in it. It is gonna be as shit as nintendo """""""remakes"""""""
They already added stuff to the battle system, you can see it in the trailer
This is a remake. Everything is literally remade.
This is a waste of time. The SNES game still exists in both cartridge and ROM form. There's dozens of ways to play it already. They're just screwing idiots out of another $69.99 plus tip and offering nothing except muh grafix downgrade.
>70 dollars
Are you kidding me? TOTK I could kind of see being 70 dollars since it was a huge open world, but this is a remake of an SNES game. Even asking for 40 dollars is a bit much. Even the Prime remaster had a hard time justifying that price point.
>TOTK I could kind of see being 70 dollars since it was a huge open world
lmao
It’s $60 btw, which is still ridiculous
Yeah that’s the only thing stopping me from being really excited. I usually prefer a remaster to be true to the original but I’ve played through this game so many times and the new graphics aren’t really improving the already perfect game.
A remaster is when they just upscale or improve textures. A remake is when the game is made from the ground up in a new engine. Having new gameplay/content is irrelevant when it comes to distinguishing between a remaster and remake. I'm not sure what engine they're using for the new game, but I doubt it's the same engine from the 90s.
It's already showing an area that wasn't in the original game. The original had no Rainbow Road.
Yes it is. A remaster is taking a game and adding a fresh coat of paint to it. You can't just take a SNES game and build off that for the Switch.
What wrong with the original?
It's a dated ancient PoS, new graphics are just lipstick on a pig
>What wrong with the original?
nothing.
now i can enjoy both the original and the remake.
My biggest issue with the original game was I couldn't tell what some of the detail on some of the characters looked like
Mario RPG is the best interpretation of the Mario characters, and I didn't grow up with the SNES. It's what the Mario movie should've used as a guide.
so fortnite was a remake when it moved to the new unreal engine
You must be 18 years or older to post on Ganker
Kys you cumguzzling homosexual.
YOUR A FRICKING IDIOT OP!
FRICKING CCFF7 REMASTER USED THE FRICKING PSP CUTSCENES!!!!!!
New music alone is reason enough for me to pirate it.
Oh come on, you fricking KNOW they'll add in some secret hard bosses based upon some new character, or a new game plus with Rosalina.
But at the very least some new hidden boss.
I hope they at least fix some of the secret boxes being missable.
Link WILL wake up.
He WILL have a side quest.
Did you know you can recruit him as a party member if you jump on him 300 times to wake him up?
it’ll be an analogy for nintendo waking up and finally doing something with all these IP’s
Why is it so hard for zoomies to understand the difference between port, remaster, and remake? If it's rebuilt from the ground up it's a remake. A remaster would just be giving the sprite game sone polish. If you still don't understand I'm not sure what to tell you.
I wonder if the hidden npc will still be behind that one building in the mushroom kingdom area that comments on whatever part of the story you’re at. I swear like me and 2 other people online know about this
Hopefully they give him new lines. He stops giving you advice after star hill.
do you think the game is running on the engine that the SNES game used or something, moron?
HE'S IN
>There's no hard mode, new areas or bosses to fight to keep it as 1:1 to the original as possible.
While probable, there's no way to know for sure.
I think that people forget what a remaster is these days. Often a remaster is the same code as the original. Like they took the original game, didn't put it in a new engine, just need some remodeling work and the game still runs fine without needing to do any changes to the engine. A Remake, means that things needed to be redone. The entire base game was thrown out and new code was done from scratch, possibly even a new engine as well. The game was made again. You can do a remake of Pong from scratch, give it slightly better graphics, but keep it the same game and that still constitutes a Remake. You don't have to add a story mode, various gimmick modes or a power up system to make it a remake. That said, this is mostly semantics and I fricking hate whoever started this whole trend of calling something a remaster, as most of the time they were still doing a lot of the game code from scratch, which is why the old glitches no longer work in it. What people instead needed to say is that the game didn't constitute paying full price for what was essentially a graphics pack laid over the old game, as the old game was still completely serviceable.
Mario RPG is a remake. It has new music, it has new mechanics, small though they seem right at the moment and it has new content. That's a remake.
>keeping up shit 4 dudes in a row gameplay
yeah its shit
>This is a remaster. Not a remake
You are the most moronic person on Ganker currently.
>but little to no changes to gameplay or maps with nothing new added.
Good. But at the same time, I hate to parrot others but I think some of the original game's magic is lost when everything is clean smooth 3D graphics. Imagine if they made it but the stages were all diorama style and the characters moved like they were animated in stop-motion?
>but isn't that just Paper Mario
Yes, and?
>This is a remaster. Not a remake.
You absolute fricking moron. This game is a remake.
>Remake
Remaking the game from scratch
>Remaster
Literally the same game/code but tweaked or upscaled
I know this place has an average IQ of like 82, but goddamn. This isn't using a single reusing even a single asset from the original SNES game.
>Remaking the game from scratch
so kingdom hearts hd remasters were actually remakes because square are morons who lost the original source code and had to build from scratch?
Nta but it wasn't rebuilt from scratch, they reverse-engineered a retail copy. And that was only KH1, they still had the source code for the other games.
IIRC they couldn't fully reverse engineer it so they had to recreate some code on their own, or remake it. So even if its a """"remake"""" it's quite true to the original
This is literally built from the ground up, which means it isn't a remaster, you dumb frick.
i'm sure there will be some balance changes in the final product and hopefully some translation fixes but for now it seems like a good way to play SMRPG.
I've played through Super Mario RPG countless times, souless or not I'll be playing the remake just because its different. If it sucks so be it, it won't hurt my love for the game any.
There is no reason to play this game if you already played the original.
>Game not released yet
>Ganker: WAAAAAAHH WAAAAAAAH DOOM DOOM DOOM DOOM!
Why are you like this? This is pop consumer culture. Go chop some wood if pop culture makes you hate your life.
