>dips to 30 FPS
I'm not even joking, when I heard about this I stopped buying switch games altogether and switched to emulation. 30 FPS in a 2D game is embarrassing. Unstable 60 to 30 FPS in a 2D game is criminally incompetent.
anyone b***hing about "muh framerate drops" is just confirming they never played it
literally the only time the framerate dipped was when you went between the town and the rest of the overworld, and it's only for like one second
It's a great fricking game and I was skeptical at first
It has some flaws though, you can buy all items making the game way too easy, but the dungeons are so well designed and fun it doesn't matter
In my ~30 years (at the time) ALBW was the first and still only game I've ever finished and then immediately started a new playthrough. (hard mode)
I was down to 1-2 hearts in every almost single boss fight 8 (but never died), in normal mode and then in hard mode. Perfectly tuned balance. I've never experienced anything else like it.
fricked up how this game understood zelda is about getting items with new abilities for combat/exploration/puzzle solving
and then every game since has completely failed to understand that
I liked what BOTW did, I think it came at the perfect time because Zelda was beginning to stagnate and even though TOTK was disappointing, I appreciated what it brought to the table in terms of mechanics and expanded on what BOTW introduced.
However, the Zelda team very badly needs to sit down and start keeping a list of the best parts from old Zelda and new Zelda. The potential for the greatest Zelda game of all time is just sitting on the table and yet they KEEP FUMBLING IT.
I feel the same. I think they did a very good job with BotW at reinterpreting some important things at the core. They just need to not become too attached again to the new precedents they set because there's a lot to gain from less recent 3D Zeldas. Specially the N64 ones.
"Lorule" as a counterpart to Hyrule is quite possibly the stupidest thing the Zelda series ever introduced, but otherwise ALBW is pretty fricking great.
What's stupid is that it's literally just the dark world from lttp, shit makes no sense.
Why wasn't it called Lorule back in lttp? Or why didn't they just call it Dark World in albw?
In-universe, it's not the dark world. The dark world is the sacred realm, corrupted by Ganon. Lorule is a parallel world, forsaken and falling apart due to banishing their triforce.
But yes, ignoring canon and focusing only on gameplay, they appear, for all intents and purposes, to be the same places.
That's a really dumb complaint anon. ALBW happens hundreds of years after ALttP. It's not abnormal at all for the Dark World (dark world probably even wasn't its name back then, the people of Hyrule probably didn't even know its name) to have changed name as its own world with its own inhabitants. You know the place you now called the United States wasn't always called the United States right?
>loner fortune teller's counterpart married the witch >good people's counterparts are opportunistic jerks >Zelda's counterpart lacked wisdom >Link's counterpart lacked courage >Ganon's counterpart lacked power >status quo was broken when they found another world where their missing virtues could be found
Lorule is awesome.
I think the idea is cool, I just think the naming is so dumb and eyerollingly on-the-nose that it really brings down the whole concept.
What's stupid is that it's literally just the dark world from lttp, shit makes no sense.
Why wasn't it called Lorule back in lttp? Or why didn't they just call it Dark World in albw?
Well, they couldn't call it the Dark World in ALBW, the DW was the Sacred Realm/Golden Land twisted by Ganon's wish. It's restored by Link at the end of ALTTP.
They were just being lazy reusing the Dark World's maps and dungeon theming.
Not a chance. TPHD and WWHD are definitely selling as standalone titles.
We might see some kind of 3DS collection that includes OOT/MM 3D and ALBW though.
Allegedly they've been sitting on TW and WW ports for a rainy day forever now, but that shit ain't happening this late in the Switch's lifecycle. Or maybe it will since they always seem to dump tons of ports and remasters in a console's last days.
ALBW was good, the wall merging gimmick was genuinely well implemented into the game's level design.
The only complaint is the item renting system kind of dumbing down the game a bit because they could only expect players to have one item at a time, but it was an experiment and Nintendo actually had the sense to realize it didn't work and to not keep trying it in the next games, which is rare from them.
I mean, they literally did not give 2 shits about the original lore. Not one fricking mention to the Maidens and their *human* ancestors, it's all the sages from Ocarina of Time. FRICKING NOT JUST THE LORE BUT THE ENTIRE PLOT
No fighter's shield only the garbage ass Hylian Shield because muh keychain merch. THEY DID IT TO THE REMAKE OF LINK'S AWAKENING TOO
Frick the lore about Hylians becoming extinct outside of a few special bloodlines, everyone has pointy ears. EVEN THE ORACLE GAMES PUT ATTENTION TO THAT.
Also let's recycle the Skyward Sword's Alphabet for no reason.
It dares to call itself a sequel when all it is is a reimagining at best.
This is an insult to Kamiya, Tanabe and all the old devs that made such a wonderful game.
Devs: >what Zelda should we remake next? >Let's do LttP! >are we making too many remakes? >Yeah I think you're right let's make an original game out of this beloved map
Releases ALBW
Gamers: >No don't reuse the map that's lazy! Where's my LttP remake?
Yeah it was utterly uninspired, had zero new ideas outside of a minor gimmick, and it looked like a bootleg game with awful art direction.
Also re-used music and assets just made it feel cheap and lazy.
No it's not. You ACTUALLY need suicide and it's not even an exaggeration or anything. You have got to die man.
Yeah it is. The way it surpasses the original in every way and makes it impossible to go back is such a cruel humilliation to AlttP
oh my God. I don't think I've ever seen such rapid fire succession of completely dogshit opinions.
>no argument
Cope, boomer.
I accept your concession
one thing is for certain, mass commenter is a homosexual
LTTP aged like dog shit
terrible art style
Better than Link's Awakening remake, atleast
OP is moronic but let's not get crazy here. LA remake was much better
>dips to 30 FPS

You moronic ape the game is 3D.
Look at it. It's 3D.
God I hate morons like you.
It's a great fricking game and I was skeptical at first
It has some flaws though, you can buy all items making the game way too easy, but the dungeons are so well designed and fun it doesn't matter
Being able to buy the items is fine, the game just needed hero mode unlocked by default so the penalty for dying would matter.
Still gives me goosebumps. The original theme was already fricking amazing and they somehow made it even better.
you're supposed to say how
I enjoyed it but it's one of few zelda games I probably won't replay.
ALBW is very replayable.
Not for me but have at it anon 🙂
In my ~30 years (at the time) ALBW was the first and still only game I've ever finished and then immediately started a new playthrough. (hard mode)

moronic take, but isn't it supposed to be a sequel?
Yes, the OP is just moronic
It is
I would say it´s more of a sequel in the same way how Super Mario Galaxy 2 is a sequel to the first one.
Nah ALBW is great.
it's just meh. the best thing about it was the wall gimmick that was underutilized for some reason
fricked up how this game understood zelda is about getting items with new abilities for combat/exploration/puzzle solving
and then every game since has completely failed to understand that

I strongly disagree. Its a great tribute to the original.
"Lorule" as a counterpart to Hyrule is quite possibly the stupidest thing the Zelda series ever introduced, but otherwise ALBW is pretty fricking great.

>Creating all entirely new assets from scratch is lazy
Damn I guess the whole fricking game is lazy since it reuses all of ALTTP.
Lazy in concept, not execution. Nintendo's devs are no slouches, but the game is LTTP 1.5.
>expands upon the world
>gives you a ton of freedom
>optional upgrade system
>adds new areas that are fun to explore
It's the best top down Zelda.
>worse than alttp in every way
i REALLY want to frick Hilda bros..
Unironically better than the original. And its probably the last true Nintendo game ever made.
at this point i see nintendo throwing in another zelda collection that has TP HD, WW HD, ALBW, FSA unless we get some Zelda99 type of game for NSO.
Not a chance. TPHD and WWHD are definitely selling as standalone titles.
We might see some kind of 3DS collection that includes OOT/MM 3D and ALBW though.

it was alright, i just want more 2D Zelda shit and no remakes, frick remakes.
it was actually pretty good considering it happend in the souless era of games. not pefect but perfectly good enough
yeah, it completely dominates the original in a way bordering on offensive
ALBW was good, the wall merging gimmick was genuinely well implemented into the game's level design.

>muh lore across games
>in Zelda
How many times will it take for you loregays to learn the lesson?
Yes, secondary, the vast majority of Zelda games are actually sequels to previous games. There has always been continuity.
but enough about ff7 remake and shitbirth
Devs:

Playing both back to back. Alltp simply feels better.
its better than the original aside from the rental system which is a novelty and doesnt really hinder its just not ideal
better how? it reuses every sinlgle idea but downgrdes it
