I played the game with a friend so I managed to squeeze more out of it than I would've solo.
It's an okay game, but lacks in things to do. Flying is smooth once you get the hang of it, but space combat is absolute garbage, getting new ships, getting new tools and mods, it's all just a boring grind, but it's cool when you finally find a sweet S class exotic ship, S class tool and have maxed out mods that have you one shotting enemies both in the surface and in space.
The grind for money and quicksilver was getting so awful, I just used a refiner dupe and savescumming to get infinite credits and unlock everything in the anomaly.
Easily the best part is the base building, how free form it is and how magnificent structures you can make. Exploring new, mysterious planets and their biomes is fun, but it all quickly starts to repeat itself, some of the story bits are kinda cool, like the arc with Artemis, null and the Atlas, the lore behind the three factions is interesting, but that's about it.
It's a 6.5/10 game, it's not bad, it's not great, just decent.

It's all out of context and people making shit up and running with it, but attributing it to these two. There's plenty of videos of people breaking down what they have said and proving this.
I'm not the biggest fan of NMS but you do need to give them credit for the amount of work they put into the game after the fact, with it all being free too. It's like a slightly shittier Terraria situation.
