>empoleon >lucario >dialga >palkia
those are the only pokemon i can think of where they kinda don't match their type in gen 4. it doesn't seem that bad to me
>Staraptor Fighting/Flying >Kricketune Bug/Normal >Bastiodon pure Steel >Vespiquen Bug/Rock >Luxray should be pure dark >Mismagius Ghost/Fairy >Spiritomb Rock/Ghost >Drapion Bug/Dark >Lumineon Water/Fairy
yes, there is a lot more focus on type combinations nowadays as it's more interesting to people than monotypes. All your examples almost certainly had their types determined before the design was finalized, though
Yet nearly all gen 4 cross gen evos keep the exact same typings.
If anything gen 7 started it by introducing regional forms which generally had out of left field typings
Conceptually, it should be Fighting/Psychic. But Medicham already existed and Gallade was introduced in the same generation, so they probably wanted Lucario to be more unique.
Pokemon typing has been inconsistent since day 1. And way more conservative than every fakemon dex, which will throw out a shit ton of 'cool' dual types like ice/dragon or water/fire.
No, Gen 4 didn't do a pure Flying, it was like an unwritten rule that it needs to have something else to it.
Gen 5 broke that, though it was sort of justified with it being a wind god.
prior normal/flying types were animals that could fly and use wind to attack. tornadus is pure flying because it IS the wind.
then the gen 8 birds fricked things up for no reason.
But only one pokemon in that image is from Gen 4.
homie, you dumb.

dropped there
ok contrarian
>pre gen 4: not a single frickable pokemon in sight
>post gen 4: every single pokemon is begging for human wiener
Uh Vaporeon has been in the game since the very start.
Black person, jynx has been there from the beginning
wrong
what makes Crawdaunt a dark type?
what makes Sharpedo a dark type?
what makes Jirachi a steel type?
It's Pokedex entry explains why very well
It's Pokedex entry explains why very well
It is partially made of some type of metal

Luxray wasn't electric/dark though
Yet nearly all gen 4 cross gen evos keep the exact same typings.

And considering only Lucario, whose steel type is perfectly explainable, is from before gen 7 in OP’s pic, yeah.
Lucario has no reason to be a steel type
>Literally has steel spikes
GF’s way to force it to make a steel type
>Adding wings to Charizard was just GF’s way to force it to make a flying type
Sneed
>this is a steel type
>Didn’t exist when it was introduced
didnt stop magnemite
Wings are a major part of Charizard's design, the steel spikes could be removed from Lucario and not much would change
It would look too much like Riolu but bigger
>our shillmon typing isn't good enough
>add steel
>but what's steel about it?
>idk add spikes or something
>mentally ill unmedicated schizo headcanon
Conceptually, it should be Fighting/Psychic. But Medicham already existed and Gallade was introduced in the same generation, so they probably wanted Lucario to be more unique.
Mawile has not reason to be steel tipe
It's steel because it has an unbendable will or some shit idk
Meowscarada is one of the few Pokémon where dark type isn't tacked on and actually makes sense for what it is.
>Normal/Electric is bad
>But the myriad of legacy Normal/Flyings is good and pure Flying is bad
Also
>Implying Golduck shouldn't have been Psychic
>literal zoomer "meme"
Gen 1 with it have 4 normal/flying lines, 3 rock/ground lines, 3 water/ice and 3 grass/poison lines
Pokemon typing has been inconsistent since day 1. And way more conservative than every fakemon dex, which will throw out a shit ton of 'cool' dual types like ice/dragon or water/fire.
Dark type didn't exist in gen 1
Sceptile would still be a shitmon even if it was grass/dragon
Dragon would still make it better as it would only be countered by Steel.
>6 weaknesses
>4x to ice
>would only be countered by Steel.
I’m talking about the offensive coverage
Golduck should have been made Water/Fairy in gen 6.
Mono types were a mistake
This only applies to offensive mon.
Make dual types have weaker STAB and monotypes would be less outclassed
Wow, I somehow never noticed that Corvisquire and Rookidee were pure flying type. I rememeber that being a bigger deal in the older gens

Whats wrong with Pinsir being bug/dark it would help differentiate it from Scyther and Heracross
that would probably help it to have some niche after Megas were removed
Golduck should be Water/Psychic though. Only reason it isn't is because Slowbro.
I unironicly wish that Golduck was water/psychic
