I haven’t played comp since XY but isn’t it even easier to make a perfect pokemon now than it was then? I remember back then Gamefreak had already streamlined it to the point you could shit out and fully EV train a 5IV mon with your desired nature in under 20 mins.

With some very small exceptions, it's easier than it has ever been. The only standing arguments are for specific Pokemon like Landorus and Cresselia that take quite a while to reach from any new save of a game.

Those have both been easily available in many mainline games, but these shits don't play those games. It's really not hard to do any of this stuff and it doesn't take a lot of time either. The people getting DQ'd are new dickriders that don't give a shit about the franchise.

It's easier except for the legendaries you have to use Home to get in the game, which conveniently enough are the top mons at the moment
I think the absolute worst case is wanting to use Enamorus-Therian on a Trick Room team since you need to play through the entirety of PLA for a single chance at getting one with a low Speed IV

        rusted bottle caps when?

Realistically, next gen. They've been moving in the direction of convenience for IVs since 3rd gen. Gen 7 they added hyper training and for the first time you could change an existing Pokemon's IV. In Gen 8 they added nature mints. In gen 9 they made hyper training only require level 50. Considering at this point the only reason left to inject is 0IVs, a Rusted Bottle Cap is inevitable. Alternatively they could just have all IVs set to 31 in pvp, the way all levels are set to 50. It would take some of the depth and complexity out of the game, but it'd also be a very easy solution to implement.

This only applies to Urshifu. Cresselia and Enamorus are not top meta, at least not yet.

This is why Smogon banned Flutter Mane, Urshifu, Chien-Pao, and Chi-Yu. You don't see this over-centralization in a format with bans.

would it not be possible to simply use an external device to back up your save before catching enamorus, then transfer it to home over and over until you get a 0IV? do they have any detection for dupe mons like that?

          Anonymous

I am pretty sure they do have a detector for dupes.

            Anonymous

well, what if you just started up a new save game and then injected an enamorus to transfer out? does home actually scan your save to make sure all the proper flags are set?

          Anonymous

You could do that yes, but how many people have a model 1 Switch? And again, you're still using some sort of external device. The actual solution is for TPCi/Game Freak to decide if they want Pokemon to be a competitive game or not. If they do, then they need to make a way for players to be on a balanced playing field. They sort of did this for a while with the "had to be caught in the current game" rule and "no mythicals because not everyone has had access to the events" rule, but they moved away from it. There needs to be a reasonable way to get any usable Pokemon and get it perfect stats in a reasonably short amount of time or Pokemon will come down to "who got lucky with their <obscure pokemon> speed IV roll/who figured out how to inject a legit one."

People's current complain is not about perfect IVs but 0 IVs, people want their legendaries to have 0 IVs in attack or speed now.

I got a very obviously hacked shiny Tyranitar from wonder trade the other night. Its nickname is one of those injection sites.
Are the injection sites not generating valid shinies? If they are, I don't see why VGC players would buy a legit shiny, which would necessarily be more expensive.

What are 0 IV's useful for?

      Anonymous

Some pokemon want to be as slow as possible so they can oporate in trick room effectively, along with moves like gyro ball, etc.

And a very small selection on special attackers want low attack to mitigate foul play and confusion damage.

        Anonymous

        >a very small selection on special attackers want low attack
isn't it technically optimal for any pokemon that doesn't use physical attacks?
you wouldn't actually go to the trouble of getting it in most cases, but it's still optimal

          Anonymous

yeah, but some want it more than others.

          Anonymous

It is more optimal, but if your Pokemon resists dark, and getting that 6th IV perfect would be the difference between 5 minutes of prep and 6 hours of prep is it really worth it? If you're injecting and just typing the number in then, yes, of course you type 0, but in game you're not bothering with that.

Not just about Foul Play, it also affects Confusion damage.

They doubled the gain from the held items, and the starting area around your house in SV has clusters of pokemon for all 6 stats.
It takes like 10 minutes tops to max an EV for 5 mons at a time.
