I haven't actually played 6 but I'd probably enjoy it because it's Disgaea
I like 4 even despite the endless amounts of RNG fricking bullshit it throws at you in postgame. There is so much annoying shit in that game but I adore it anyway. I did finish 1's postgame, even did Etna Mode Prinny Baal and that was without abusing enemy capture. I don't know why I did that to myself but I did enjoy it somewhat, it's rather straightforward in Complete (I don't mean the mobile version but I played that to Baal too)
If you enjoy postgame you will despise 6. 6 is only tolerable for the story. Quit after the story ends and don't look back.
I'll get around to 6's story eventually, still have to beat 3 and start D2. I like the dark school setting of 3 and Beryl's cute, I also really like mad scientist type characters so Mao's neat. I don't find it bad, but it's not like I've hit postgame yet I haven't even beaten it. I also like how Mao can use a staff, even if I gave him an axe for the time being. Magic tends to cost a chunk of mana to make useful at the start, but I'm playing the Vita version totally legitimately and totally without any crashes whatsoever so there's Tera skills. Maybe the crashes are the Disgaea AMD curse spreading to V3K or something

6? Huge downgrade from 5 I think, but may still be a fine time
Gameplay is basically everything in this series. The stories are good for a few laughs but you'll mostly forget about them once they're done, although I liked 1's. Start with 5 or 1, it's apparently hard for many to go back to 1 after 5, but I found it easy enough. If you want to do autistic postgame stuff, 5's the game for that no doubt
But would you consider the gameplay fun, satisfying and well designed or is the game better just for cooming.

I'd say so, except for some story stages. I think 5 had the least amount of time wasting stages

Hell yeah it is, the joy of postgame is working your way up and making everything go by faster. By the end of it all I was leveling multiple characters at once to 9999 in just two fights. Every special attack is also comically flashy because parody shit. To me, it feels good

It feels like 5 may have been designed well on accident but it does a lot of things right. They may or may not have been aware of how broken some of the DLC shit is, but that's all free in Complete and you don't have to pay extra. The broken shit mostly comes from abilities you can pass on to anyone so you can make a lot of things work, and they're mainly best for making otherwise annoying shit much more convenient
