u really like magepunk settings , gameplay be damned
not particularly, even though I think we all agree the setting and aesthetic are cool
you never played diablo 2
>what guesses can you make about me?
You don't own a copy of Diablo II
[...]
He also doesn't own Diablo 3
correct
now that I have you here though, what exactly makes diablo (2 implied, but the franchise as a whole) lauded? >play it and see
yes, yes, I'm working though a backlog right now, I'll get to it
Diablo 2 looks and sounds beautiful. The game is a relaxing point and click not this bizarre rat in a wheel shit that companies seemed to think was what made it loved.
Diablo 1 played to me like a dungeon crawler with graphics. Totally different game.
Just ignore Diablo 3.
>not particularly, even though I think we all agree the setting and aesthetic are cool
The game looked like shit.
>Endgame is boring
agreed >campaign is boring
agreed, but that's basically the standard for the genre >itemization is boring
mild disagree, but I can see where that comes from >skills are boring
hard disagree, skills make the game worth playing, maybe the aesthetic too
TL 1 was fantastic, I don't even remember what they fricked up with TL 2 but I remember playing through it with some friends and by the time we reached the swamp we were all ready to tap out.
I think it's a fine game to just play through once but that's pretty much it.
I started the first one, played the three characters, I found it boring compared to Diablo 1, let alone 2. I don't know if it's the artstyle, or the enemies. I didn't even dislike the gameplay.
Wasn't Torchlight even made by a couple of the first devs to realize Activition Blizzard was a shit company? Like the first to realize the brain drain to come and to gtfo. I know the music is exactly the same as Diablo, one of the things I love about Torchlight. As arpg goes though Grim Dawn is my favorite, so much content there with all the class combos and constellation options, several massive optional areas, lots of its own crazy lore to hunt.
I can't remember which came first, but diablo3 was a pretty big disappointment while torchlight 2 ticked all the right boxes for me. It also came out around the time POE was in beta. I do recall articles saying TL had a few of ex-diablo staff. I never had an urge to play TL/TL2 again after finding GD
I fricking hate that many skill got locked behind levels. Like If i want to do certain build, I have to level up skills that I don't want to use in the early game or else I have nothing. >Want to spam Fire explosion >You need level 24 so you have to spend point on other shitty fire skills.
It's kinda shit.
Berserker is fun, any other class isn't.
The game's biggest problems for melee is that way too many enemies knock you back while you're in the middle of your attack animation.
Music is great though.
For me, it's the engineer.

I've thought about getting this, how is it?
u can get it for 3-4$ during sale.
It's meh. Endgame is boring , campaign is boring , itemization is boring , skills are boring. It does have some nice disney/mobile tier maps though
Well it's worth three bucks, right?
maybe? during a dry-patch where you have nothing else to play , sure.
Doesn't matter if it's worth it, three bucks isn't money. You gonna cry over three bucks?
You're right, spending time playing it might actually be worse
Exactly. Smart fella.

I just couldn't keep playing this game after beating it
I wanted to farm gear but damn
>hard disagree, skills make the game worth playing, maybe the aesthetic too
not that anon, but I really disliked how you learned skills
what games are there like this? I already played a thousand years of diablo2 and grim dawn is just extremely ugly and boring
>what games are there like this
I hear path of exile get mentioned a lot

For me too, but I never progressed further than Act 2. ARPGs are mind-numbingly boring, I don't know how people spend hundreds of hours in them.
you never played diablo 2
He also doesn't own Diablo 3
>what guesses can you make about me?
You don't own a copy of Diablo II
>every single arpg ever
>pick the ranger class
>no aoe, no auras, just kite
Why am I like this?
I started the first one, played the three characters, I found it boring compared to Diablo 1, let alone 2. I don't know if it's the artstyle, or the enemies. I didn't even dislike the gameplay.
test
1 was ok, 2 is good, 3 is absolutely terrible

I played 1 way more.
Delving deeper into a dungeon is way more fun than traversing a boring overworld.
