They’re far too lazy and cheap to actually invest in the quality of the games so instead of maximizing their profit people with standards are disinterested in buying them just because of serious issues like horrific graphics, constant bugging issues, removing all the content, and shitting up the designs. But the main appeal of the Pokemon games is what you envisioned them to be which is where you can do entertaining shit like having ARPG combat system, enter fanmade tournaments, raid with others or quietly infiltrate into villain hideouts, and interact with your team and several in game characters wherever you are. Palworld is at least able to have the awareness to implement the bare minimum and give players some of the gameplay they can’t find in a multibillion dollar franchise
but the areas were bland. shit was scattered around the flat bland land without any kind of thought or reason. the pokemon were placed randomly and had no real habitats. they didnt behave in any interesting way or do anything special. they all just walked around with the simplest ai routines. im sure you liked the IDEA of catalogging like a field biologist. monster hunter world did a better job with that idea in practice

I didn't feel that way about the world, it felt tightly designed with a good ratio of standalone areas and areas that looped into each other. The Coronet area was so fun to explore with a few hidden pockets and this feeling like each area was leading you to the next

It's basically half a Pokemon game and a quarter of an open world game with a good setting and good direction to keep it glued together.
Honestly, if this proves anything it's that PLA was mediocre and was a swing and a miss in too many critical aspects. It could have been what palworld was long before palworld hit the scene but it just...wasn't.

I don't really get the narrative that Pokemon is "done" just because Palworld exists. This happens every time a game gets popular, people act like X series is finished because people are buying Y game. They seem to forget that people are allowed to buy more than one game. Or maybe they're still living in that world where the only games they can get are the one game a year that their parents buy them for their birthday.
Personally I will likely buy Palworld at some point down the line if I feel confident they're committed to updating it and aren't just going to abandon it, but I will also continue to buy Pokemon games.
