It isn't a 1:1 correlation between the two, but yes there is definitely a correlation... The more important thing is that the style between the current generation and the PS2 is different. PS2 being outdated means its retro.

8 year old kids' today will grow up with Switch or PS4 or Xbox One being their first console, if they do even use consoles. Most are playing Fortnite and Minecraft on their phones and tablets.
