really? what about that dark and might game where you kick things or dunno even zeno clash was like first person combat. i'm sure there are many others
tried the vermintide games when those were givenn for free and don't remember those having good combat. more like boring combat, that's why i didn't play those more like 2-3 hours. but that's just my opinion
Recruit and veteren difficulty you practically didn't even play the game.
You have to play recruit which is shit until you get 100 level gear then better until you get 200 level gear then you can play champion where it's actually fricking fun and challenging.

This. Wasted potential and moronic developers aside, it's probably the biggest weakness of the game that's actually in it.
The early levels enable bad habits, but there's no way to rapidly advance before they're ingrained, so chances are the average noob will have to unlearn shit like face tanking and firing through allies, while learning the importance of dodges and attack patterns/chains.

If they ever rework deeds(fat chance considering Fatshark stumbles even when promising weave skins in live), it should be where you can modify the entirety of the game's difficulty. Set damage, mass, stagger, spawns, horde sizes, horde compositions, patrols, deed options like vanguard + Next wave to any difficulty. So that you can have cataclysm mixed hordes + special timings but with veteran damage/ mass.
Legitimately the biggest issue for people getting into the game(also me getting people in) minus the unneeded 100 gb install size is that it takes way too long to get into the meat of the game. Recruit to Champion is snooze mode where hordes melt like mulch, there's barely any armored elites/ rabid elites in the mix + lack of punishing damage, and nothing spawns. By the time someone gets to legend they've probably already done all of the base maps at least once.

What's your go to weapons for Zealot? I've been running Axe and Falchion but I also like Flail and Billhook.

Not him, but after taking the greatsword pill I can't go back.

It still fricking baffles me that they shoved 2 out the door with a shitass hero power system, ults and talent trees /just/ after finally getting the first game damn near perfect.
I get the desire to add new gameplay systems and rebuild a sequel to reset technical issues but goddamn does almost everything they added make the game worse. A stripped down version of the careers is pretty much the only thing that would be good and, for the love of frick, not knockdown out spam (with the exception of Kruger charging).

Do people not like when I knock enemies down with the Knight dash?

Knockdowns are helpful as the game is. The complaint there is that the game has a meta of constantly knocking enemies over to break their defence and deal with hyperstacking - and that they leaned into that by changing the ults so that more of them are knockdowns.

Shit like Saltzpyre's captain ult being changed from a party buff to just another knockdown. Fricking why?
What? >animation locks out the fricking ass >every weapon except for the lightest feels as sluggish as Kruber's executor sword >every weapon weak as shit >pushes actually deplete stamina making the tried-and-true pushblock dance far, far less effective - so horde management just turns into thoughtless light/heavy spam
Too difficult to balance.
If you have enemies that are too strong, people rage and quit. But if they are too weak, it's easy and people breeze through it, then quit.
Diablo 2 LOD struck a really good balance back in the day, with additional enemies and strength being added with each new player.
What balanced are you talking about? the moment you get to hell you have to change your build otherwise you would be spending an hour to kill one zombie
Barely any emotes which is annoying.
The chat wheel is so shit it doesn't even have a "thank you" or "nice job".
The expansion pass is still being sold full price.
The final class STILL isn't out yet after 5 years.
all the good players moved on to cata and almost exclusively play in those lobbies, it leaves legend for the players or who are either not confident enough in their abilities to do cata (bad) or players who just straight up suck too much for cata (bad) or the players who don't care for the game enough to shell out the cash for WOM (bad). so if you play in legend you're gonna be stuck with the "bad" high level players
trying to play on legend solo but keep dying in the last phase of the missions. what's a good character to play/bot setup for solo?
depends on what the event type is. if its something where you gotta be moving quickly to move barrels or whatever like in Screaming Bell, than something with invis or mobility like RV, HM or BW so that you can speed the event and leave the bots in the dust while you run for the portal. If its a wave defense map, than the class you're the best with + tank/support bots like merc, IB and SOTT
I love it. I switched to full Linux a couple of years ago though so I haven't been able to play it since unfortunately. The EAC version they use doesn't like Linux
have them at least tweak the models to match the god of the current map.
make the chaos warriors look like khorne warriors if they're in a khorne map or at least recolor them red.
It's telling that for darktide your enemies are nurgle shitters again
They'd also have to redo all the voices, and given quality fatshark control they'd get the wrong ones 90% of the time.
The subs STILL don't match the actual dialogue, which must drive ESLs completely insane if they've got a shaky grasp of it.
>It's telling that for darktide your enemies are nurgle shitters again
It does feel kind of lazy and samy, but I also feel like they're kind of stuck with having to use Nurgle for the same reason they used him in the first place. >Khorne is too boring: literally just angry red dudes >Slaanesh would bump the game's age rating up >Tzeentch probably shouldn't even have hordes of random pointless mooks
Nurgle is JUST interesting enough without being too abstract or weird, and it allows you to have hordes of mindless, weak zombies. He's the god that works best for a horde shooter/slasher.
The other answer would be to just go with other forms of variety, like different factions besides just Chaos. Which they kind of did with Beastmen, so maybe they'll add 'nids or something to Darktide when they decide to fix its many problems.
Disagreed. It's actually just fricking lazy. The only valid point is Slaabesh bumping the age rating because a single titty is the biggest sin to American eyes.
Why does a chaos invasion need to be exclusively 1 god? Give a smattering of specials or elites or monsters from other gods too.
Khornate CW would be kino

Despite what I said, I actually agree, and it would have been neat to have it be Chaos Undivided so there was Khorne dudes mixed in with the Nurglites, and have some Tzeentch bosses/specials accompanying them since they likely wouldn't have hordes. I get why they didn't, because more effort that most people won't give a shit about it, but it would have been cool and added more variety.
Khorne forces would have been less work than any other additional enemy type, and would give more meat to the game. I could even see an argument for there not needing to be Khorne specials and instead they just have shitloads of elites, like Chaos Warriors and Berserkers.
Worth picking back up for the new maps? Burgerhoffen, chaos wastes and beastmemes were all legitimately shit additions. Would rather play skittergate before any of those.

words words words, as always with fatshark it means nothing. This is what they are known for. Release a completely 'pie in the sky' roadmap, backpedal hard on every design desition in said road map, and release apoligy statements when they recieve backlash. At this point you might as well get into findom since you seem to love getting ripped off.
if the implication you're making here is that they're just not gonna release the sienna career all I can say is that you're moronic and there is no point trying to reason with you. they dumped out 5 maps in the last half a year or so after 5 years of supporting the game, you think they're just not gonna release the career?

debatable, the skill ceiling is way too high, it takes hundreds of hours to truly learn how to play, its as bad as dota 2 in that regard
the game just dosnt teach you well enough to play at this high level or how to play off audio
but yeah, when it works its by far the best first person melee with no competition, you can practically play with eyes closed based on audio feedback, pretty insane, but not as insane how much they fricked up the new game
how could the same studio make vermintide 2 and darktide, i dont get it, a lot of talent must have left over the years.
all i can say that you haven't played many video games then
While I do not agree completely with OP there isn't a game in existence with first person melee combat even in the same league as Vermintide 2.
really? what about that dark and might game where you kick things or dunno even zeno clash was like first person combat. i'm sure there are many others
Neither is anywhere close to vermintide in terms of actual melee tbh.
Both are objectively better games
tried the vermintide games when those were givenn for free and don't remember those having good combat. more like boring combat, that's why i didn't play those more like 2-3 hours. but that's just my opinion
you probably didn't get to play the harder levels where blocking, dodging and autistic combo spamming/chaining mattered.
Recruit and veteren difficulty you practically didn't even play the game.

yeah they made a good game
it's certainly one of the video games ever made
I don't understand why a dungeon crawling game with this L4D style gameplay with different heroes/classes isn't a thing yet.
Too difficult to balance.

How much longer does it have left?
I kind of hope they do one more big Chaos Wastes update before they drift off into the sunset to make Darktide a finished game.
chaos wastes sucks ass
the supposed daemon shithole for the 4 gods but all you fight are fester skaven, beastmen and nurgle norscans.
Bro, what did you expect them to add new enemy types? That's like 50% of the game content.
have them at least tweak the models to match the god of the current map.

They finally removed the versus ad but still kept the page up. Also Sienna class never ever :^)

One that's deliberately vague and will probably get delayed, but it's there
Give me dommy mommy slaanesh you god damn cowards!
Look at him go
