This is the best FromSoftware game to date and I'm tired of pretending it's not
>but what about its flaws
Even then it's still the best. Search your heart, you know it to be true

...It doesn't even beat Lost Kingdom
why are you echoing youtubers on video games you have never played
I've never seen a Youtuber talk about it, and why would you happen to know a Youtuber did talk about it?
because you didnt play it
Yeah I was just saying that to be inflammatory. Ya got me. That was my own sentence, though. I didn't need a tuber to tell me that
A few too many repeated bosses. But otherwise I explored every inch because what if there was a unique armor set or weapon over there in that corner?
Dark Souls is my favorite
Same. For me it’s still Dark Souls.
Dragon Eye in Dark Souls 2 was peak PVP. Nothing has ever came close to replicating it.
Black person, PVP is not the main appeal of these games
Rat broing was more fun.
Pontiff > DS2 DLC Areas (MAIN ONES) > Ringed City > Painted World > Anor Londo > Oolacile > Dragon Eye > Spears of the Church > Belfry Luna > Belfry Sol > Forest Hunters > Rats > Watchdogs > Dark Anor Londo
Meant Painted World of Ariamis. Painted World of Ariandel is really middle of the road, above forest hunters but below belfry sol.
Ringed City was better than Pontiff.
The amount of verticality and potential drops/shortcuts for invaders is unmatched. Also elevator shenanigans.
Iron Keep Bridge > all of that
It's the only one I've had zero desire to replay.
NOT SO FAST
Sekiro is by far the easiest game they made. Its braindead one button combat. Only reason half of Ganker thinks it's the best is because it was the first game they managed to beat on their own
>hard=good always
moron
One button combat isn't fun. The game is bad
Go charmless with demon bell if it's so easy.
Vast majority of top Soulsborne streamers consider Elden Ring to be the best one.
>eceleb streamers are moron slop enthusiasts
Shocking
>people who are more educated on the souls genre know what's what
>therefore they're the goyslop enthusiasts!!!
Elden Ring is kino, but not my favorite. I would arguer DS1 is still the most impactful one.
>Still two months until the DLC drops
Dark Souls 3 is their best game.
>tranime
>shit taste
Name a more iconic duo
Tourists and saying 'tranime'
>language changes over time
would it have made you feel better if I just called you a weeb instead?
too much pony riding through nothingness
No
Ds3 has better bosses, Bloodborne has better worldbuilding, sekiro better combat. Elden ring definitely has the best exploration, magic, and waifus
>best exploration
Exploration implies there are things to discover. Elden Rings open world is just vast swathes of nothingness with enemies placed around
Hold on now, sometimes there's useless crafting items that for some reason are super rare.
i barely had the energy to slog through the final stretches of the game. everything past leyndell seemed like filler to me and leyndell seemed like a good point to wrap the game up. doesn't help that some of the most annoying bosses came right after that area, mandatory ones too.
the only other fromsoft game where i felt this way was dark souls 3, and even then i could soldier through to the end no problem, but with elden ring i just couldn't be assed for a few weeks to go through farum azula and i still haven't finished a second playthrough.
sekiro was a lot of fun from beginning to end on the other hand
DS2 has the same problem of extending itself too far and for too long.
It always surprises me how much more of DS2 is left when I play it
true, the first time you reach drangleic castle should be the finale.
that's not much of an achievement
by the time you reach endgame you can demolish those guys in 10 seconds if you don't feel like actually fighting them
Farum Azula was like an improved Dragon's Aerie THO
>sekiro was a lot of fun from beginning to end on the other hand
Yeah man, who doesn't love fighting lone shadows every three minutes
It's like 4th
Dark Souls > Demon's Souls > Sekiro >> Dark Souls 2 >>> Dark Souls 3 >> Elden Slop > Remasters
It's really good but armored core 3 is better chud
The open world is trash. The only open area with good exploration is Limgrave. The rest of the areas have gay ass cliffs blocking you. Frick Altus Plateau especially. Fricking lame.
>oh no i cant walk in a straight line to my objective, the horror!
How dare I want to chart my own course. Everybody's playthrough looks the exact same in this dog shit game. DS1 is somehow better at allowing for variation.
>DS1 is somehow better at allowing for variation
Lmao no way you actually think that
>there are 5 ways i can go
>will i go though the regenerating parrymonster skeletons, then the giant skeletons in complete darkness, only to be blocked by a fog wall to go back on foot
>maybe i can go through the haunted flooded city of unkillable ghosts only to be blocked by a guy that doesn't want to open a door.
>or i can have taken a specific item or class that allows me to go through a precarious canyon pupulated by lighting- breathing dragons
>i could even walk into the valley of 10 fps poison where ambushes linger in every corner, precariou platforming abounds, and i can then go fight an incredibly overpowered boss for my level, followed by another 1 shotter boss and an area pupulated by lesser versions of bosses
>or i can go through the nice burg pupulated by level-appropriate zombies that look kinda like weaker versions of me
But it's not Armored Core 6
I thought it was OK on release but after playing DD2, I just can't stand it. DD2 is just everything Elden Ring wanted to be and it isn't even funny. Wish I could refund.
>DD2 is just everything Elden Ring wanted to be
An unoptimized asset flip with less content and even lower difficulty than DD1?
If that's how you cope with your Elden Ring buyer's remorse. I'm at least not delusional about wasting money and time on a bad game.
>If that's how you cope with your Elden Ring buyer's remorse
I'm not the one shilling DD2 in an Elden Ring thread, lmao
Concession accepted.
Oh you're very welcome, if that helps you sleep at night that's all the better
actually it's bloodborne but elden rang is pretty good too
It is a great game, otherwise plagued by poor design decisions, nonsensical lore and story, repetitive copy paste bosses, horrible balancing and underdeveloped mechanics.
>Sleep and madness.
>On the other hand, Hemorrhage and Frost.
>Godfrey and Godefroy, and other similar bullshit like Mohg in the sewers, Astel the lore destroyer copies existing everywhere, Red wolves of Radagon, etc.
>Mountain tops of the Giants and consecrated snowfield.
>Marika is Radagon lol.
>Crumbling Farum Azula, Gurranq too.
>No special ending or consequences for not accepting Melania, and Melania as a character in general.
>Shit final boss, shit NG+.
>NPC quests that require a wiki to complete.
And many, many more, it's one of the worst written souls games, and that's saying something, still great tho.
>Melania
You're pretty moronic.
Forgive me for mistaking Melania for Melina, my IQ is barely high enough to keep up with the game's impeccable writing and brilliant character naming conventions.
Frick that games writing in general.
>Melania
You don't get it. There is no Melania.
>This is the best FromSoftware game to date and I'm tired of pretending it's not
>>but what about its flaws
>Even then it's still the best. Search your heart, you know it to be true
its the best because it just is ok????
you wouldn't frick a miniature ranni
It'd be a great game if you took away all the redundant shit detrimental to the experience.
It's curious because from afar you could think that a game like death stranding is very similar to elden ring, you're doing the same task again, and again, and again, but in elden ring there isn't much to discover or experiment with when fighting a soldier, an imp, a dog or a crow for the 100 hundredth time. It's just muscle memory and tiredness taking its toll.
In death stranding you might be always doing one thing ( walking ), but the type of delivery, the time constraints, the weather, the weight, the equipment, the tools you get the more deliveries you do change your gameplay and keeps you on your toes. And unlike Elden Ring it's a small detail but the camera is dynamic and not always centered around the characters so to help you take in the vistas. Also you're getting new equipment very frequently, equipment that you can use right away and isn't locked away behind build requirements, when in ER not only do secondary dungeons look boring and are samey but the rewards are also super shit.
That's why overall I can't go back to elden ring, where no matter what weapon I pick I'll fall into a routine and fell asleep when doing anything that isn't a legacy dungeon. Meanwhile I'm enjoying all the parts of death stranding. Even today I discover things directly influencing the gameplay I missed last time, like holograms produced by the odradek to bypass the mule's ping scanning the environment. I don't need to jump over it no more.
What do I discover in ER when I go back to it? An ugly piece of armor, or a weapon I can't use.
There's less useless items in it than other RPGs where you can pick up a worthless mug or apples
I don't think this argument works when elden ring has a map covered with "herba", "harpy's toenail", "homosexual mushroom" or "goblin's mole" loot for dumb ass crafting.
Its the one I have the hardest time replaying, ignoring even trying to do all the mini-dungeons. The main path to hit all the major bosses is also not interesting to me. Tons of riding on Torrent past enemies, getting into the on-foot stuff where the real fun parts of the game area. Stormveil, Volcano Manor, Sewers, and the entire route down to Malenia. Open-world and mount honestly are my least liked aspects of ER. I'd take a shorter, condensed game over what we got.
Glad I'm not the only one thinking this. Just stitch all the legacy dungeons together, delete the empty open fields, put some secret passages and vertical paths and lever activating bridges and elevators, some traps and dead ends and you'll have a better map.
>I want Linear Souls III - 2
No
I'd take DeS worlds over ER.
I'd take anything else from made over Ubisoft Ring.
>and I'm tired of pretending its not
Well since you speak like a redditor and have the taste of a redditor, I'm just gonna tell you to have a nice day and move on.
>no fun allowed, you must have a nice day immediately!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Why are Gankerners like this
This is how I get my fun.
Don't look any deeper into my personal life, it gets worse.
Searching my heart, I liked Dark Souls 1 more. But Elden Ring was really, really, really good. Probably the second best Fromsoft game.
I liked DS3 more, the large open areas has a lot of empty space to traverse which makes repeat playthroughs a chore. The multiplayer component is just worse in every way, less players per session, no fun covenants, no fight clubs and no solo invasions.
It is a visual marvel, but has the most mechanically uninteresting game world, the least challenging non-boss content, and ashes of war make all other combat options redundant creating a balancing problem unique to this game.
It's my favourite and most replayed Fromslop game but at the same time I dont want them to make an open world game again.
For me?
Dark Souls 1 > Elden Ring > Dark Souls 3 > Bloodborne > Demon's Souls Remake > Dark Souls 2 >>>>>>>>>> most other games
Even the worst game of this series (Dark Souls 2) is still better than 90% of games out there and that says a lot right there.
Pretty much. These fanboy flame wars over which games are masterpieces vs trash irritate me, to most normal people these games are all fairly similiar. I would still play my least favourite Fromsoft game over 95% of slop that is released.
One thing I genuinely appreciate about ER is how much more personality there is to characters, with Dark Souls most of them are zombified, especially bosses, but in ER you have TOGETHAA and other shit that just sticks in your brain. Also every location having music like in Sekiro is the right direciton
I like that some of the bosses talk to you and taunt you as you fight them in ER. There was one boss in Bloodborne that did that and it was awesome and I'm glad they carried that over.
?t=143
Speaking of, I made a bizarre discovery in DS2 which was that if you do the I Won't Bite gesture at Fume Knight he will switch targets to you even if another player is beating the shit out of him. At first I thought it was just a funny coincidence but it was actually a consistent interaction.
Imagine Dark Souls 3 but you can get on a horse and ride to another Dark Souls 3, and then you get on a horse and ride to another Dark Souls 3, and then you can go down a mysterious elevator and find a subteranean world that is another Dark Souls 3.
That's all Elden Ring is. It's about 4-5 separate Dark Souls 3 games that were stapled together and it's fricking awesome. 10/10..
ER is so kino
Saved your picture, friend. Awesome.
I got lost in this game after beating the fire giant. How the hell do I figure out where to go next. I want to at least beat the game before the DLC comes out.
>McDonalds Dark Souls with the width of an ocean, depth of a puddle with content spread too thin to give the illusion of grandeur
It's just a worse Dark Souls 2
How on earth is he just on NG+9 with over 700 hours? Must be a lot of PvP. My main character is on NG+112 with just 702 hours on that one.
>NG+112
bro stop speedrunning
It's not even in the top 5 From games.
>find the trap chest to caelid that makes the map even bigger
>find the portal to leyndell that stretches it to around 60% of its limit vertically
>find the well that leads to the underground world
>find the portal that leads to the sky city
this is all in the first half and the 2nd half still has stuff as well, such as leyndell sewers, inner volcano manor, consecrated snowfield. and placidusax.
Elden Ring is literally the worst soulsborne fromsoft has made
sekiro >>> bloodborne > dark souls > dark souls 3 > demon's souls > dark souls 2 > elden ring
you can not prove me wrong
You're wrong. There, I proved you wrong.
>you can not change my mind
FTFY Sekirogay. I like your ranking other than putting 3 way too high
DS3 belongs at the top together with Elden Ring, it's a peer-reviewed fact.
Listen here you heretic scum! The best would be Bloodborne + music from Dark Souls 2 + magic from Elden Ring. Truly what a game that would be!
Biggest flaw for me are the sidequests. Extremely missable, even if you explore the full map.
GOTY 2024
Do HDR screencaps appear washed out for me because my monitor isn't HDR compatible, or because the screencap doesn't save the HDR data?
ER is legitimately one of the worst games From has ever made, it's at best a 5/10
>nothing is S
>Demake in A
Trying too hard bro
You are right, the Demake should be knocked down to B.
>nothing is S
When Fromsoft manages to make an S tier game, it will go there.
Nostalgiagay
Elden ring is ds2 2, they're both trash visionless games with the same design philosophy and features which show up in no other games in the series
Correct
I love all of them for different reasons. Kek
Even the black sheep has a place in my heart.
soulless copypasted rollslop
Sekiro>>>BB>DS1>DS3>ER>>>>>>>DS2
>Zero memorable boss
>A redditor is the only famous character of the game
Sekiro won, face it
The roll frames are kino. But No, it's not. Dark Souls Prepare to Die will always be the best. It's such a lonely game.
