This is the exact moment Ass Creed jumped the shark (the first time).
>everything up to this point was about finding nuance in the world and having the freedom to draw your own conclusions
>invited player to do the same
>pieces of eden had a mysterious aura to them
>nah lol jk, it was muh ancient race all along
>pieces of eden had a mysterious aura to them
>nah lol jk, it was muh ancient race all along
Pray tell, what were you actually expecting?
>Pray tell, what were you actually expecting?
Sure as shit wasn't a talking expo-dump hologram, that's for damn sure. Everything in 16's riddles pointed towards more Pieces of Eden existing throughout key points in history. I was honestly just expecting another projected map, or hell, another Piece of Eden.
and then they completely abandoned this plot and never mentioned it or anything related ever again
3 concluded it
moron
? AC3 is about Desmond fulfilling his role as saviour.
i dont know i didnt play it it looked like shit
>I haven't played it
>So I will call others moron for pointing out plot points
moron
In the worst way possible which left the modern day shit in story limbo ever since
Modern day story had no reason to continue past 3. 4 or Unity's solution was great. Hell even Ubisoft admits that since with Red they are making Unity's '''modern day''' a reality.
it wasn't a true conclusion that was meant to be, it was a plot killer so they don't have to deal with it anymore, disappointing at best
They botched 3 by scrapping the planned ending with the rocket.
End of ass creed 1
This was the fricking peak of the series. Nothing else lived up to this moment.
what about the end of AC1
I think it was the most interesting moment in regards to the narrative from all the AC. The time overlapse where he could talk with Desmond was pure kino. Ezio was the character who I was most invested with so being the end of his story made me emotional, I recognise that may be influencing my judgement, but I have a fond memory of Revelations end.
I think that every dedicated fan of the franchise thinks and feels that way about Revelations. Being able to see Altair once again and then Ezio's speech, pure kino. And then ac3 ruined everything
I do agree with you OP, AC1 had this really arcane and mysterious feel to it with how absolutely baffling everything about the Apple was. None of the other games have ever been able to replicate it. After 2, it became just a weapon that some characters have instead of some worldbreaking item of import.
This is obvious when you consider the series as a whole. Assassins Creed was actually very innovative and singular at the time of release, when brown n bloom chest high console shooters were all the rage. It was an unconventional stealth game set in the fricking holy land, and so the plot was also unique and strange. 2 was also quite good, but with pressure from corporate to deliver more product to satisfy rapidly increasing popular demand, they ultimately lost whatever strange original vision there was and just fell back on easy and boring tropes to explain the mystique. Almost the same shit happened with Black Ops 3's campaign. And now I don't even know what the frick to make of asscreed anymore. It's just unrecognizable, and straight trash. Shame.
Almost forgot, or they are just shit writers/had no plan. That is the simpler conclusion.
Patrice Desilets is the original director of the game, he had a plan for the series but he dipped mid acb. It was all downhill after that
Personally I liked this. The apples of eden must have been made by someone so it didn't bother me that it was this ancient race. Also I see with fond eyes those 2012 end of the world themes.
After all we souldn't forget that AC is and has always been science-fiction.
desmond dying as well as most of ezio's family means nothing ezio did mattered
What did desmond end up achieving, I completely forget.
>hypes up the modern day assassins creed game starring desmond for 4 games
>ubisoft says frick it and kills him off
I haven't played a single ass creed game since. It's especially bad when you look back and revelations and realize they'd set things up subtly for them to do a harry potter where the implanted consciousness of subject 16 dies instead of desmond.
This is one of the reasons I fell out of love with the series. I felt like the series was building up to a modern game with Desmond but we got frick all.
Yeah no shit. Once the mystery was gone it became shit. Many such cases. FNAF did this too by over explaining the purple dude and all that shit.
Some things need to be left vague to work.
For me, it was when they killed off Lucy.
Still kino.
It was so dumb too, because the reason was her voice actress resigning. Just hire someone else?
I agree but that didn't stop 13 year old me from basedfacing at the screen.
