This is the first Zelda game I ever played and even I can see it is the worst 3d Zelda, objectively speaking. And the other, worse Zelda games, which are 2d are spinoffs of it anyway.

It would have been so much better if they hadn't rushed it and cut out all the dungeons, islands, and other content. Even someone who doesn't know the history behind the game can feel that it's incomplete.
It's a 2002 game and it's 20+ hours long as it is. How much bigger do you expect it to be? It's only 4 years after OoT
I expect it to have at least as much content as OoT or even MM considering the huge jump in hardware and storage space. The pacing is all over the place, and the world is 95% empty and lifeless. I get that it's your favorite Zelda if you grew up with it, and you can't help but have your judgment clouded by nostalgia, but objectively speaking WW is kind of a mess to say the least.
>The pacing is all over the place
I disagree completely. It's paced perfectly, except for the stealth mission, that was a moronic one. Other than that it constantly mixes exploration with dungeons and as you're going from dungeon to dungeon it carefully guides you through new waters that you haven't explored before, inviting you to explore. And as you explore, you talk to fish that drops hints about other location, inviting you to check that out. Of course it all relies on you actually playing the game and exploring instead of putting down the controller until you sail to your next objective so that you can claim you've "beaten" it
> I get that it's your favorite Zelda if you grew up with it
I'm in the same exact boat as OP, it was my first Zelda but I've also replayed it just a week ago so I'm not speaking out of my ass.
It's a masterpiece and if you're filtered by it you're just too much of a newbie. It requires a level of gaming intuition to work, it expects you to guess some things based on a gut feeling that comes from gaming experience. If you don't have that, you won't enjoy it
>newbie
>This is the first Zelda game I ever played
So? Maybe you played it this year, maybe you're one of those "gamers" who plays like 2 games a year and watches the rest of youtube. You need to build up that intuition by actually playing games
You're being moronic again, anon... i played it the year it came out.
>after 40 years, WW still makes "muh rcartoony graphics suck" chuds seethe
absolute kino game
OP here, the art direction and music is literally the only redeeming thing about the game.
It's amazing how little handholding this game has, to a point where if you're not keeping your own map on paper, it's very hard to actually clear the map. I bet all the WW BAD morons didn't bother keeping their own maps, completely lost track of what submarines they cleared and what they didn't, which island has which ability gate and rage quit while coming up with excuses like
>BUT DUNGEONS... ARE JUST A LITTLE WORSE THAN TP SO IT'S A HORRIBLE GAME, I LOVE TP BY THE WAY
it was the free-roam nature of WW that lead to the 5 hours tutorial section of TP
Or rather it was all the seething babies that got filtered by the free-roam nature of WW that led to that. Now that BotW games are the biggest Zelda games ever, it's fair to say WW philosophy was redeemed.
To be fair, the on-rails parts of TP are better than the complete emptiness of the WW overworld. Besides, WW has its own 5+ hour tutorial until you get the song that lets you change the wind direction
>a little worse
Besides there being only 6 dungeons against TP's 9, they are the most generic shit ideas ever.
>volcano
>spoopy forest
>boring assed tower where you wait for the water to rise 1200 times and has some of the worst level design ever
>forsaken fortress again. Its short as frick without the stealth sections too.
>spoopy dungeon (okay the statue is kind of cool)
>finally a cool theme but everyone seems to think this is the worst dungeon in the game anyway, for reasons I can't wrap my head around...
>zelda dungeons using the same themes over and over again
Woooow what a shocking twist. Well now we can really confirm that WW is... le bad!
I bet you're the type of moron who thinks twilight princess is good.
I think its the best 3D Zelda because it has the best dungeons. Simple as. And I didn't play it until 10 years ago. Cope + Seethe.
I think all dungeons in all Zelda games are made for toddlers and you have to some kind of developmentally challenged moron to think they are the point of the series. The point has always been exploration which is what WW does better than any game since OG and until BotW
Yes, that is the XotYgays revisionist pilpul, indeed.
You're the moron if you think the challenge is the point of the game. Its not like the overworld in WW is any less suited for toddlers anyway, so what's you're fricking point, you dimwitted homosexual? You have none, you're just blathering like a buffoon.
He didn’t say challenge? He said exploration.
He acted as though the lack of challenge of the dungeons was somehow relevant as if you're not, you know, exploring those as well! Frick that guy.
I thought it was pretty good
OoT was worse.
Wind Waker and Link’s Awakening are my favourites.
have a nice day no taste redditor
How come Twilight Princess can be guilty of the majority of the sins that Skyward Sword gets absolutely burned at the stakes for, but people for some reason just excuse all of it when it comes to Twilight Princess?
Is it really just because it 180d the artstyle direction that Wind Waker went for?
People who’s first experience to something was the “edgy” installment are always autistic homosexuals. See Final Fantasy 8 fans for example.
