A lot of the bosses in Lies of P had adjustments to make them more consistent and fix their hitboxes, but I'm not sure Nameless Puppet had anything done to him.
Nothing in Sekiro is THAT hard. Every boss is just a handful of scripted combos that you can commit to memory without really struggling, combined with some mechanics that require you to actually practice enough to do them consistently.
It only has a reputation of being "unbelievably hard" because of Dark Souls shitters who are used to being ridiculously overleveled as frick with a +5 dragon tooth and full havels and a summoned companion and 15 maxed out estus flasks, and in Sekiro you generally have to actually learn the fights.
Have beaten all these bosses.
Malenia was the hardest. But hey remember that's just my opinion man, difficulty is subjective and the same challenge can vary from person to person based on a countless number of factors so if you feel differently then that's A-OK.
You're right. Difficulty really depends on you and your situation. The worst encounter for my build was the gargoyles. They fricked me up nonstop. Malenia took me around 10 tries. Seemed around as hard as Godfrey to me.
Isshin and Nameless Puppet are just objectively harder than Malenia, though. You can't really cheese them, or bring allies to help you or distract the boss. You just have to be good at the game. I assume Lingering Will is the same way but never played KH.
Maybe if you're comparing them all as fair duels, but Elden Ring has so much built-in shit to help you not make it that.
Never got this. Her first phase is a joke and her second phase lets you chip her hard with reflected lightning, and she has a ton of moves where she whiffs like crazy. Nameless's first phase at least makes you stay awake just for his damage output and the fact you can't just walk around his moves like Laxa, and his second form is way more brutal
Yea and first phase is pretty easy since you can predict when she do that but in 2nd phase she can either spam that shit or never use it, i beat her with my gehrman build solo only because she did that attack only once in second phase
him and his captain jobberhomosexual lackey are such fricking bastards i have yet in 20 years beaten chapter 8 on very hard. love this game to death, but damn!
This shit is too memed. Near the end of the chase you can drop down from a dirt trail onto the top of the train. This blew my mind and made me look for earlier opportunities. I ended up finding a ramp very close to the start which got it done no problem.
She's pretty tough when not using any cheese, but anyone who thinks she's even in the top 100 hardest bosses doesn't know shit about video games and probably only plays mainstream AAA shit.
>beating her right now at lv120 or less with no summon
Isn't that how everyone beats her? That's how I beat her the first time. I'll admit it took me an hour of trying, but she's really not that hard. Once you figure her out, beating hers not really a challenge anymore.
blasphemous blade, mohg's spear, black flame tornado, magma blade, ancient death rancor
pair any of it with fingerprint shield and you can cheese her easily
You should redo this and >remove the helmet and have your character look like chud >play better unless you made it a point to play like a fricking moron to show the "true" difficulty of the fight
I love how much you can play with them. Like getting them to hit each other because they tend to surround you on both sides. Come to think of it that's one of the few dual boss fights that actually take hitting their ally into account. Most of the time they just phase through each other to hit you.
If you don't use bleed double katanas or mimic / tiche / etc., yes
If you use ez mode shut the frick up because the conversation is clearly not talking about using your handicap put in so literal morons could play the game

Real cheap bullshit when she instantly starts up Waterfowl Dance before your R1 even gets to the recovery frames.

It is. Genichiro is supposed to be the landmark by which you track your progression of skill through the game.
At the start, he's a seemingly impossible monster that will beat you every time.
By the midgame, he's a worthy challenge that you can defeat if you really focus.
By the end game, he's an annoying speedbump you blitz through over and over again without even trying while you try to beat the real boss.
>Midir
Attack the head. Not doing this is the only reason I can think of to struggle with this boss, if you've reached him then you've already fought tougher
His Godzilla beam that he only does after reaching the halfway point that 1-shots you if you don't perfectly time your roll is what makes Midir bullshit.
Even with attacking the head he has so much health that each attempt takes forever and then the entire attempt comes up to a coinflip if you manage t dodge that move just right or else have to restart the whole agonizingly long process.
Trying to beat Ludwig in Bloodborne at a low level to get access to those sweet DLC weapons was rough. Comparable to Malenia. I think I beat him at level 48 with the Tonitrus and it took me 3-4 hours.
I agree. My favorite game boss of all time is Sword Saint Isshin.
And it's not because of how hard he is, it's actually because of how fair he is.
Isshin doesn't have "that move". You know, the one move in the bosses whole moveset that just seems to kill you every time and you just can't for the life of you find a way to consistently deal with it (cough cough WATERFOWL DANCE).
Instead Isshin simply tests all of your fundamentals. If you have properly learned everything the rest of the game has tried to teach you, you already have all the skills you need to beat Isshin, and beating him is simply your final review.
when I first fought him at was surprised at how simple he was, it was weird because every other boss has something flashy or crazy but isshin is just so clean, it doesn't even come out in the footage you have to be playing the game to notice how every move he makes feels so effortless and natural. I don't know how they did it but I immediately got the feeling that he was a real master swordsman
Your angered reaction implies otherwise, Fatalis isn’t hard and everything in the arena and that you’ve done up to that point is in your favor. If you’re struggling against Fatalis then you learned absolutely nothing from all those hours you’ve spent playing and should be ashamed. I’d honestly ban you from playing Monster Hunter ever again, since you’re actively ruining gaming just by being allowed to reach Fatalis to begin with. There is absolutely no excuse to be doing so poorly against it when you should have fought alatreon, raging brachydios, and furious rajang beforehand. Unless you died because you didn’t notice the environmental stuff to avoid the fire breathe. In that case you’re just silly, the rest of the fight is literally normal mode.
Fatalis takes dozens of times longer than Malenia, hits harder than Malenia to the point where he can one or two shot you, has way tougher attacks than Malenia outside Waterfowl, and is on a time limit. He's harder than Malenia. Whatever he's not le hardest boss ever frick off moron he's still harder than your soulshit boss. >alatreon, raging brachydios, and furious rajang
Also all harder than Malenia. have a nice day
Malenia took me 3 days, Isshin maybe about 3-4 hours.
Isshin is still harder.
I was trying to beat Malenia with a colossal greatsword, with no ashes or whatever.
It literally just is learning how to respond to Waterfowl, that's the entire fight, the rest of her moveset is very easy. The main difficulty of phase 2 is that her punishable openings are a lot smaller so she has time to Waterfowl more. Once you get Waterfowl to the point you can dodge it every time, you're done.
Isshin makes you learn his entire moveset and the fight doesn't just instantly end once you've figured him out. Not to mention he basically makes you deal with 3 different movesets over the course of the fight (Genichiro, his sword, and his spear).
it depends, they're different. It's certainly a lot easier to cheese Malenia or just beat her with a random ash/type of build since Elden Ring has more variety while in Sekiro mostly everyone is on the same playing field.
Ishinn also probably tests you on more, though I recently replayed Sekiro, and Ishinn like every other boss in that game is trivial once you understand Sekiro's combat. I beat him the first time without struggling whatsoever while when I first played the game he took me like 20. I think Malenia is probably harder because of that but Ishinn is infinitely more fun to fight. I have never once had a desire to go back and fight Malenia again because the entire difficulty from her fight is basically Waterfowl Dance while Ishinn is still a lot of fun to me even if he's easy.
Why even type this shit out
if you used ashes, your opinion on the topic doesn't fricking matter
I'm not a ydbtg homosexual but your input on the conversation is meaningless. People who say malenia is hard as frick CLEARLY did not use the easy mode summons that break boss AI, so why even bring this up. You basically did play a different game if you used ashes VS not using them, and that's just a fact, so you're basically having an entirely different experience
It's hard to quantify because you can walk into Malenia with a billion different permutations of weapons and builds
I've seen people walk into Malenia and one shot her sight unseen with mimic tear and sword of night and flame
Now, obviously when most people talk about Malenia being hard theyre not talking about using those kinds of strats - but those ARE options built into the game, so can you really call her harder than Isshin if you're actively shunning some of the tools the game is offering you?
Whereas Isshin, 90% of people walking in will have the same skills, all the gourd seeds, all the prayer beads, and a handful of sugars to pop if theyre feeling good about the attempt.
Overall I would say, if you're level 120-135, and you're not using a bleed weapon or a frost weapon, and youre not using summonables, and you're not using the tombstone shield, and youre not using magic - Malenia is harder. But its pretty much exclusively because of waterfowl dance and how you kind of need to train yourself to do the really bizarre roll-roll-block-roll-roll to get through it without any major penalty.
Isshin is just like, your drivers license exam of Sekiro. Can you check every box of the fight on command? Then he's dead. But he looms large in his own legend because
A) it takes a long time to learn him
B) A ton of modern gamers dont want to bother and will burn themselves out trying to do some game breaking cheese bullshit they saw on youtube that winds up being harder then just putting in the work to learn the fight
But only if you play in a certain way. Mimic tear + whatever build with high damage would obliterate her in seconds. Like a mage build with Comet Azur or faith build with blasphemous blade.
come on armstrong is easy as frick, his battle has a lot of spectacle and it's probably the best ever at that but it's not really complicated, his fight at the end of the sam dlc is actually batshit insane he's like a chimp on crack there

Normies all use frost/bleed build and mimic tear/player summons to beat her.
That's the problem with discussing the difficulty of Malenia. "Beating" her is literally braindead easy if you use every possibly advantage the game offers you, but far, FAR different if you try to beat her "fairly", but nobody can agree what beating her "fairly" means either.
the game is terribly unbalanced and fromsoft is TRASH at making rpgs, and that's because they're autistic and refuse to make difficulty settings instead of making gamebreaking weapons that bypass everything
The entire fun of RPGs is to make fun broken builds within the game's framework tryhard-kun
In fact Fromsoft should lean even harder into the RPG aspect and add things like stat checks or make the classes important, if only to make you seethe >Verification not required.
>So what if I play on easy mode? My victory is still JUST as valid as yours even though all I did was stand back and watch as somebody else beat the boss for me! The game said I won so that means I did!!!
yeah nah, nothing is unfair or cheesy against a boss as bullshit as Malenia. If she breaks the rules of good boss design then I'm going to use whatever works
even that one guy who beat her naked 10000 times was like "yeah this boss sucks ass"
Sigrun from GoW 2018 on the hardest difficulty. Absolutely the most relentless boss I've seen, and I finished everything from FS.
It's well over a 10 minute fight. So tightly tuned that you need to keep up full concentration for the entire duration. 0.5ms late reaction could mean instakill. Yet never unfair or cheap. Every counter or dodge you perform well rewards you with a damage opening.
>people will respond saying this isn't a boss >people will say it's not hard

>t. This is my first FE game and I didn't know what I was doing
Duessel alone pretty much clears the whole thing unless you're a moron, not even top 5 hardest maps in the series
If you have options to cheese a boss it's not actually hard. Release Malenia was easily cheesed by summoning the mimic tear and spamming Hoarfrost Stomp with it. Current patch Malenia can still be staggered by Haligtree Soldier ashes and probably the demi human ashes while you snipe her with explosive bolts.
Sister Friede actually holds up as a difficult boss. It took me about 10 tries to find a way to beat Malenia on my first playthrough while it took me 80 tries to beat Friede.

Imo mogh is the best er boss, hard but also fair, cool arena and best music in er
Fatalis in monster hunter world is literally 100x harder than this junk
Also all harder than Malenia. have a nice day
no way. Malenia without shitter crutches like RoR and the dodge step and ashes is way harder. I cleared Fatty solo on the 2nd day after he was out.
vergil 3 in dmd is way harder
i never finished sekiro, is malenia really harder than sword saint?
I took 8 hours with isshin and malenia was like 3 or 4, I think isshin is way harder and much better designed
Me and the mimic did that to her with blasphemous blade. Mainly strength too
>Spam that 1 Flies spell only
>She just constantly gets knocked out of animations from Bleed proc and I win for free
Malenia was fricking Freeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
come on armstrong is easy as frick, his battle has a lot of spectacle and it's probably the best ever at that but it's not really complicated, his fight at the end of the sam dlc is actually batshit insane he's like a chimp on crack there
>LW
no
>AbsRad
Harder in the context of the Pantheon of Hallownest, but still no
>Maria
No, but the Toyota/9tails fight from the 3rd DLC is actually harder
>Armstrong
Lol no
>Devil
Should've used Saltbaker and still no
>Isshin
Maybe
>Demon
Frick no, this fight is overrated to shit
>Grimm
No
>Sephiroth
No
Not hard, just annoying (and ugly).
if normies are beating her then she cant possibly be close to hard
Normies all use frost/bleed build and mimic tear/player summons to beat her.
That's the problem with discussing the difficulty of Malenia. "Beating" her is literally braindead easy if you use every possibly advantage the game offers you, but far, FAR different if you try to beat her "fairly", but nobody can agree what beating her "fairly" means either.
cope, those are tools the developers gave you to use, you handicaping yourself only proves that you are a sweaty try hard
the game is terribly unbalanced and fromsoft is TRASH at making rpgs, and that's because they're autistic and refuse to make difficulty settings instead of making gamebreaking weapons that bypass everything
The entire fun of RPGs is to make fun broken builds within the game's framework tryhard-kun
In fact Fromsoft should lean even harder into the RPG aspect and add things like stat checks or make the classes important, if only to make you seethe
>Verification not required.
>So what if I play on easy mode? My victory is still JUST as valid as yours even though all I did was stand back and watch as somebody else beat the boss for me! The game said I won so that means I did!!!
not my fault fromsoft doesnt know how to balance their shit
the summons are bullshit, but complainging about builds in an rpg (or a game pretending to be one) is just moronic
complaining*
> but nobody can agree what beating her "fairly" means
Naked wretch with only starting weapon
>soulshit
>hard
Her sci-fi clone was worse.
Fatalis
yeah nah, nothing is unfair or cheesy against a boss as bullshit as Malenia. If she breaks the rules of good boss design then I'm going to use whatever works
even that one guy who beat her naked 10000 times was like "yeah this boss sucks ass"
Saying she's hard because you trauma blocked out orphan of kos
the hardest souls boss for sure
Hardest from boss for me was NG+ Orphan on release.
Not even close.
0.5ms is actually second.
>"hardest boss ever made"
>there are people in this thread right now who have never fought this boss before
>people will respond saying this isn't a boss
>people will say it's not hard
Emulator savestatescumming takes away all the fear this level put in people.
Also I found the most difficult boss in a game to be Extreme Behemoth in Monster Hunter: World.
I mean, you can summon for Friede too.
