Huh? Dota 2 has become censored as well. Insult words are banned and show up as *****. Plus, when you are mean (or not) to your team, they will report you for "communication abuse". You'll then be banned from talking (both write and use mic), and also get a lower behavior score which will send you to the toxic queues... where the cycle will repeat.
But, back in the days up until 2014-ish it was indeed better than League.

MOBAs that focus on esports try to convince the players that the only reason to play is to win and not to have fun. It's seriously fricked up. Most streamers can also act toxic as frick and they get unbanned because they're streamers, and one other streamer who was constantly playing silly builds like AP Irelia in ranked (and also singlehandedly made Sion meta by playing him in atypical ways) got banned on a bunch of occasions for it. You can tilt the shit out of your opponent by spamming mocking emotes but saying one blacklisted word will get you muted instantly for the entire game. Matchmaking also tries to aim for a 50% winrate because "that's balanced" and in Normals it kinda forces you into streaks of winning and losing.
If regular League players actually wanted to win games, they'd just focus on their own performance and not trying to piss off the other 80% of the team, but then they'd climb and have to play against better players who might be better than them so they wouldn't stomp lanes like they currently do. A sad ego trip.

Forced50 is scientifically proven to increase times queued per player by a large margin, making your games appear more populous since the true player pools can be mixed.
The only benefit is percieved, on both ends (queue times and player variety), actual divisions in a game as big as LoL are fricking TINY and growing smaller each season, because they are mixing the lobbies.

Most preseason changeups leave support roles fluid.
When ADCs are too weak, supports can pick anything because they start stronger.
When ADCs are too strong, the supports can pick anything because they aren't meant to be a proportional threat.
This historically means that junglers and (if support items are good) top laners can slide into that role.
As the splits break down, they choose which way bot lane will fall and the real support meta shakes out to lulu/karma as per par.
Zac support, fiddle support, gragas support, shaco support.

And that's the real problem with the old lore. Even if it's cool to watch, it gets moronic when you try to explain why Leonidas from 300 is teamed up with a Xenomorph to fight a literal god.

Like I said, the game is a horrible vehicle for narrative and trying to tell a story based around the gameplay does more to hamper other outlets that could actually deliver based on the character design.
The only successful instance of a game in a similar format that pulled of a story like that was TF2, and even it was far more constrained and leaned hard onto the comic absurdity of it all.

I uninstalled 4 months ago when I played 7 straight games with bots on my team. I'm talking the sub 20 cs 500 champion damage after 20 minute bots. They all run toplane so by the time the enemy toplaner is done farming the bot, they are level 16 with 4 items when everyone else in the game is barely level 10.
This is why I prefer 1v1 games for my competitive fix. I'm Diamond in SF6 and every time I lose or win I know it's all me. There's no excuse to be made and nobody other than myself to blame. Team games I'm fine with but damn people can be absolutely awful sometimes. Especially French team mates. I work really well in a team but French people are untenable.
league is the only game where players are so moronic that supports have to distribute powerpoint presentations at champ select to teach them how to play with a support.
