I started playing pokemon Sun on Monday where I did a nuzlocke, I did not expect the game to be this good, I'm honestly gonna say its the best of the 3D games and outbeats every gen aside from gen 5. It is amazing and I really enjoyed the story and exploration.
I was to harsh on the game, back when it came out I lost interest in pokemon and didn't get back into pokemon until gen 8 and all I knew about gen 7 where a few videos and looking up pokemon and characters, I thought Hau was gonna be annoying like Hop and I thought the games story was gonna be boring but I was intrigued the entire time.
This is an underrated gen and a gem. If I could live in any region, it would be Alola.

It's charming especially initially but the content is very thin, there is a bunch of promise to the region setting but with each new island the game feels like it gets smaller and smaller, with promising landmarks being one screen large often, and the cutscene spam makes the game hard to replay.
I enjoyed the totems but that was it, in hindsight. It also butchered the online social aspect completely but I suppose that's not relevant anymore.
Sun and Moon at least allowed you to turn off Expshare. It wasn't perfect, but it's alot better than what we have now.

yeah i'm never going to replay this because it's mostly cutscene spam with little patches of grass in between as you go front check point to check point kek might as well read a book for little kids
