I'm not autistic, so no.
You don't understand. It's to provide le shading and depth.
>op butthurt nobody likes his lego house
using all kinds of different textured blocks looks like shit
its like you made something but didnt farm anything and just built it with whatever you had on hand at that exact moment
It looks fine, not what I'd do, I'm not a fan of mixing block types personally, but I can respect what they're going for. It's kind of impressionist.
>impressionist
>posts something that BTFOs out of OPs
You're just being sarcastic
7/10 build. Good job bro.
>impressionist
That's not what impressionism is at all. This breaking the form and using random materials. It's more post-modern than anything else.
fricking disgusting
I like it unironically, but it screams forced soul, you'd never build that in survival.
>Hyper realistic cow
I remember downloading those texture packs and think they were so cool.
John Smith is still the best texture pack though
>shading
>on a fricking house.
Yet it doesn't look like shading at all. It looks like a bunch of busy textures mashed together.
It's essentially made for far away screenshots, not close ups.
Sure, if you want to do something like that where you're essentially doing it purely for a distant perspective, fine, but it just looks ugly close up to go that in detail.
Some detail is fine close up. Obviously not everything is going to remain perfect over time. You might want to throw some wood in there that looks degraded colorwise on a house, or throw some gravel and andesite into a gray path or, add some mossy blocks to stone stuff near water because shit breaks down as it's used but buildings up close do not look like that.
looks like AI made it
7/10 nice build bro. Hard to know if I should give it an 8 because I can see graphics mods.
This about platforming and giving a voice to architecture of color, but of course Western white first world imperialist capitalist NAFO chuddie pigs like you wouldn't understand
reminds me of something from fez
this looks like a color blind person built a house with whatever blocks were in their hotbar
I like it, the colors and big shapes feels almost impressionist
I'd take it over the noisy greebled 500 shades of brown builds people have shown off for the past 10 years easily
damn, a visualization of their damaged dopamine receptors, very nice
Minecraft is a little kid's game, my 6 year old plays minecraft.
It's not tho
using wildly different materials just because they have similar colors breaks my immersion and i hate it, worse even is that it could have been easily solved by adding paint and letting people color blocks however they like
terraria wins again baby
It's teh youtube thumbnail meta, and many bootlickers love it.
No this shit is disgusting. I don't mind the idea of texture and shading but that shit is meme tier garbage.
Texturing and shading only works in Minecraft if the thing you're building is supposed to be looked at from afar or if the materials are very similar to each other so they can create a dégradé
Those builds you've posted do look pretty fricking awful and non-sensical.
post your builds OP
Why the frick is the grass a whole block instead of the side dirt tile?
i am vomit
The structural style is kind of interesting, but the color choices and blending is shit
Who did it better, 11 year old me or 25 year old autist seen in op's pic.
>flat box with log corners
>no roof
>massive frick you cobble wall
>tree with half its leaves missing
>grave for a wholesome pupper

Anon, it's been 12 years since then, he's old enough to drink now.
SVUL
Better then the average copypaste smp/ hardcore megastructure
The idea of using similar colors as part of a palette is a good idea in a vacuum, but Minecraft blocks aren't JUST random colors you can throw next to each other. The different textures of each material are all important in both their individual function, and how they synergize in the greater whole.
It's better than
>autistic mega farm for everything so I can play creative in survival
>1:1 replica of a famous landmark that is just a facade
>humongous cube made out of rare blocks
I am a GTWS fan.
it's a really good build but I dislike looking at it with the knowledge that such a cool concept will never actually move
The dude has his fricking life ripped from him and his only consolation is god like minecraft building powers.
They absolutely could move if he used Create and Create Aeronautics or Valkyrian Skies.
This is actually built at a good scale, most players imitate their favorite LP'ers and build something 1/4 the size and you can't tell what it actually is supposed to be unless they outright tell you because of the gradientslop
Scar's builds are fantastic. Imagine what he could do if Mojang added real furniture to the game.
idk how any of the Hermits play vanilla and not go insane.
They started using Data Packs, it's pretty much a Vanilla+ server with most of them playing a modded series together with each of them relying on a daisy chain of other Hermits uploading vanilla content to avoid going insane from boredom (most only upload vanilla twice a month if that).
I really think the hermits need to stay as close to vanilla as possible. Watching what they make with Vanilla is part of the fun. Like how does Doc do the shit he does in vanilla.
Honestly its impressive what that man can do with vanilla only, Im sad that his illness made him drop from the Create series with Tango so quickly.
This is great. The primary difference between his and the slop is they try texture as block up to a point with no actual balance. They want to build realism with random blocks of a color palette whereas the depth and texture of this build comes in even patterns. The fact that it balances into itself makes it visually appealing.
I appreciate the effort, but simplicity is bliss.
SIMPLE
RUSTIC
need a stone foundation bro, that wood is gonna rot
texture gays and their consequences have been a disaster for minecraft building, a nice design is ruined by noticing how misplaced most of the blocks end up being while also doing nothing but adding more work than needed for said building
Yes. Literally one of these studio Ghibli castle types. I can only dream to build like that. Always loved some high fantasy shit. A bit crazy with material but I ain't art gay so what do I know.
blockvomit
its always the worst with stone since the textures of it massively conflict with each other, it doesn't even look rundown in a good way which some of them try
>use wool as a replacement for stone
>walk on it and it makes the wool footstep noise
i hate this nonsense for many reasons but this takes the cake
the first 8 look great, you shouldn't lump vomit with good builds that are beyond your ability
>look great
>moronic texture work that just makes it look like some hobbled mess
>great
why did you shit all over my screen you disgusting fricking animal
never reply to me again
I like top right and what appears to be custom mountainsides at the bottom. The rest I don't like.
I build using the materials around me, and then make ornate roofs with rare materials from far away.
i do the same with floors actually
Step aside this is what real building is.
oh when the
b e a n s
>moonquest was 10 years ago
where did all that time go
right up your arse!
I never understood the point of houses in Minecraft. A cave is all I ever needed.
I only build to make boathouses. I have always set up a cave as my main home from the very beginning.
playing minecraft just to survive gets boring once you figure the game out, building grand or aesthetically pleasing stuff has always been the point
Sometimes simpler is better
this is legitimately the peak of minecraft building. it's simple, elegant, stylish, classy, appealing, SOVLful, and it just looks really nice.
>Does the same "texturing" thing as OP's pic on the first floor
>It doesn't look like shit
Hard disagree. Not to rag on OP's "simple" house, but the repeated wood texture really distracts the eye. The shape is great though, very interesting and comfy.
what mods?
Better Than Adventure
God I found better than adventure boring.
great build friend
You're objectively wrong. He didn't texture he had depth with design. There is a difference and I know your builds are trash.
Pretty sure these rainbow vomit buildings are designed to be viewed from afar so the textures blend in
I don't see how this is any worse than making sculptures or pictures in Minecraft with blocks. It's effectively making 'painterly' looking houses and I think it's neat the ways people use different materials to create texture.
They're often not that practical as structures but after a point practicality isn't why you build big stuff in Minecraft. You could dig a 2x3 hole in the dirt and stay in that and you'd be as safe as you could ever be. I didn't built pic related worrying about whether it was practical.
looks like shit but i won't pretend i'm capable of building something that looks any better
There's absolutely no way anyone thinks this looks good.
Autists hate it because it's "not like real life" where all four walls of a building are composed of one uniform material (brick, wood, etc). They can't see the individual blocks as textures rather than the material building component they're meant to represent.
>he doesn't make a supervillain base with 100+ different defenses, traps, entrances, and secret areas
I like the ad-hoc sheet metal urban density aesthetic I think they're going for but it looks weird in the middle of a field. Tough context to set up yourself though.
Man Joel has really went all out for his first season.
9-10/10
I really hate nu-Minecraft because of the amount of new blocks they added over the years, it makes me feel obligated to put effort into whatever I'm building when in reality I just want a place to put a bed and some chests while I spelunk. I really don't feel like putting effort into my buildings.
come home, white man.
Alpha is not that good.
On god fr bruh
What? English please.
Create is basically what Minecraft would be like if it was a good game.
They must love Fez
For me, it's Etho
I love Etho's style, but not his blockvomit. Another victim of Bdubs ugly style.
>blockvomit
he just uses weird color palettes
>Bdubs ugly style
I will not stand for this Bdubs hate.
Sorry, I've seen some of his MindCrack builds, and they looked fine. It's his current stuff that looks terrible.
He also feels a bit phony, but maybe I'm wrong about that.
Bdubs is pretty much responsible for all this gradient/blockvomit trend that refuses to go away. He used to be my favorite builder back when he used normal looking palettes back in the glory days of his Building with BdoubleO series (picrel)
>Bdubs is pretty much responsible for all this
He isn't at all, reason being his builds actually look good and are designed to from a distance. He's gotten into "builds from afar" with his single player world and unfortunately to mimic success morons have started to copy what he does en masse but forget the "afar" part and just make 20 block structures and layer them with whatever they can find in their chests at the current time of building
God damn the simplicity of this is so fricking nostalgic, I love it
>his builds actually look good
they don't
>are designed to from a distance
that's moronic in the first place
I've never played Minecraft in my life. Is it too late to get into it as a 30+ gaymer?
If you're white, play beta 1.7.3 and you'll have fun.
Im 40 and like most of my gaming now is minecraft servers...
it's fine, just stay away from vanilla
t. 24yo
Nothing wrong with Vanilla.
Do it, i can't get into it anymore but i had some fun with it.
It's literally virtual lego, it's never too late
its schizo-sheikh
Looks comfy
Who came up with this technique in the first place? Grian?
no grian is acutally good.
this thread reminds of those artistically inept posts complaining about stardew valley shading with cool colors instead of black
I still don't understand why they put weird out of place blocks like this
I get if they are trying to use something color-adjacent but whats up with the weird dirt in between the white space and shit?
muh texture or some shit like that, honestly I think the real reason is they want to give the illusion of how sophisticated they are by using a jumble of blocks for every build in random patterns even if it just makes it look ugly
it's a gradient technique meant to blend colors more naturally so it look good from far away. up close it looks like a mess but these building styles are usually meant for youtube thumbnails so it lends itself well for videos
They're essentially minmaxing the build for observation from far away. From a distance it's much easier to appreciate blocks simply for their rough color and texture information rather than what they're literally meant to represent.
The issue is that these techniques are meant to be put to use in huge builds viewed from far away. Up close, you're supposed to keep your gradients reined in a bit more, at least making them out of mostly compatible materials. And when you have a small build, you should be very careful with every way you "cheat".
Zoomers understand negative and positive space, this is refreshing.
They also understand liminal space
i found the best metric to tell how good a minecraft build is: flammability
if either none of it burns or all of it burns, it's a masterpiece, if only some of it burns it's trash and you should uninstall yourself from life
you think you can hide by including "if none of it burns." i see through your tricks, zeus. you...
DOUBLE LIGHTBlack person
>even makes a fricking screencapped meme on the spot to go with his shitty shitpost
damn you bots are getting good
I thought I was the only one that used this metric, I could have the sistine chapel in minecraft but if it has a wood or wool roof I'm not living in it
The thing I hate is when they cover everything in leaves. Fine if you're doing abandoned and overgrown but most people don't have vines growing up their walls irl
Hermitcraft season 7 will never be surpassed
Idk I really liked 8 for how short it was.
It's not that 8 is bad, but you do have to couch most things when talking about it with how short it is and what it could have been if it went longer. 9 suffered heavily from the burnout caused by 8 though.
As much as I wanted to see Scar keep going, man we needed a refresh with 10 so bad.
I dipped out pretty early in 9, but I'll probably go back and watch all of scar's vids
Too much block variety, it's bloated.
I don't really make a house, I usually build contraptions and farms.
Closest i've done is probably a huge sorting system, i let other nerds on the server build houses, we play hardcore survival, and i'm by far not one of the aesthetic nerds
they make pretty shit, I make machines
Doc would be disappointed by this puny thing. Make it larger!
I was pretty happy with this one, though it got a little busy on the roof.
Join us on Gankercraft anons.
How Autistic is it?

It's pretty welcoming, just don't grief or you'll get the hammer.

Yes.

Might jump in.
Our server's gone down tonight because the cuck with the box clearly hasnt turned off auto updates and remote access is down so i can't restart it.
Its not much but its comfy
Are those tapering palm trees in vanilla now or is it mods?
Texturing is
>ugly
>slow
>impractical, especially in survival
It's a form of sickness spread by "content". Awful.
>vanilla
>adding anything good
>ever
Cool
I remember a long long time ago I stumbled across a mc playthrough that was probably 100s of episodes long, and the guy's base was like a massive cave hollow system with structures built into it. It was really well done, what blew my mind was he intentionally left the ore in the walls (this was before silktouch) to give the cave a more authentic feeling
can't remember the guy though
>not exclusively building ruins or rapture
I stopped playing for a couple of years and came back to it running at 10 fps. Is that normal now? Did they frick it up at some point?
the game has run like shit since 1.13
everyone who plays on PC installs the Sodium mod to fix this.
>Sodium
>playing on Fabric
>supporting the ACTUAL troony dramaqueen dev of Sodium
>listening to anything said by anyone
I just click "download" and I play. I don't care about people's lives.
Building anything big in Minecraft is a massive waste of time when you have to place one and one block at a time. And then you're left staring at the result like "yeah I did that... Now what"
Then you build something else?
I've built 30 million square block vampire castles and villages and 5 million square block mines and never felt that because I'm creative, not someone who needs to be told what to do by some moron who doesn't even know why we enjoy their game.
agreed. it's like climbing mountains, what do people expect to see up there anyway??
wait, people still play minecraft?
>jews are now demoralising Minecraft architecture since the real world wasn't enough or they are training for when they grow up
It's all so tiresome
you feds get paid honeypot and you're so unbelievably bad at it
hire me
what am i supposed to be getting angry about this time?
