Extremly based take. Nes megamen are best megamen.

3 is one of the worst examples of interesting enemy encounters lol, a lot of the time 4-6 are better which is sad

sliding is such a fun mechanic. everything just feels faster and more intense when you're sliding around to dodge shit like needle man.

this is a cool take. snes/ps1 megamans kinda stink. it does feel like they level design would be more fun for X given wall jump and dash.

      >slowdowns out the ass
      >most bugs of any Classic MM title
      >Rush Jet is too op and triviliases platforming
      >extremely rushed Wily Castle levels which are the worst in the series
      >lazily rehashes bosses from MM2 and makes you go through slightly altered levels you've already cleared again

Megaman 3 is trash, easily the worst Classic MM title, frick off with your shit tier taste.

wah wah wah I can't use my lag snakes. wah wah wah one of the mega man powers is too op. zoomy takes are awful. once you're good enough to do buster only runs its definitely one of the tops.

Is the Mega Man 7 and 8 level design really inferior to the original 6 games because of this or are there other factors involved? Or is it actually not worse at all? How do you all feel about this?

I think MM&B shows that you can have good level design with larger sprites, it's just that 7/8 still had an 8-bit mentality, I guess.
I also enjoy the X4-6 games. I think it's because the X games feel almost like a run n gun with how heavy the enemy placement is (especially on Extreme) and you have much greater mobility, the games just feel good to control. Particularly Zero.

High resolution graphics were a mistake.

NES and SNES use the same resolution.

MM4 was the peak of the classic series, 5 was pretty weak but 6 is kinda underrated. 7 and 8 shit the bed with their enormous sprites but the music in 8 was great. 9 and 10 were kinda pandering but they’re decent fun though maybe relying a bit too much on instant death traps. 11 isn’t retro but it’s the best non 8 bit one for sure

4 introduced the charge shot which was degenerate
also the robo masters suck and the wiley gauntlet drags on for too long
      3 is the peak

You should've mentioned the debug features on the second controller not even being removed from the final US build.

While it's not trash, Inafune did say if he could go back and redo one game it was Mega Man 3.

Mostly due to a lot of unique ideas and concepts story wise and pace that got left behind due to it being rushed out after the huge success of Mega Man 2.

To this day, it's the only Mega Man original series game outside of the purity of Mega Man 1 without a intro to tell ya the story

4 and 6 are probably peak NES Mega Man, but 9 and 10 might be the best in the classic series.

Which one is that? 65? 127? There're over 130 mega man games and you really think they're any different from each other?

    A question for you all:
With the legacy collection out, what's the best way to play megaman? Before 9 and 10 release I played them on the anniversary for ps2

The legacy collection is only good for playing 9 and 10 on PC without, but for all the other games it's better to pirate them. The legacy collection is very barebones.

I'll always assume that the people that rank MM3 as their favorite MegaMan are either morons or blinded by nostalgia. It's the second worst of the NES games (after MM1). While it had some good ideas the game was just plain unfinished. The second half of the game is just plain trash, the slowdowns are excessive, it has the worst weapons of the entire franchise, rush jet is broken, it still has debug options still in the game, etc.

play the game buster only zoomie
mega man games should only be judged via buster only since otherwise they're ALL too easy and shallow
