i never liked transparent plastic shells. they always looked cheap to me and felt like they spoiled the magic of how the system works. same goes for pc cases with a glass window.
Wish transparent plastic made a come back for the sake of nostalgia. These days I can understand if people think it feels "cheap". As a kid I thought being able to see the printed circuit boards was cool and I still kind of do.
Btw have you guys owned one of those? I had this blue transparent N64, it's still somewhere in my parents house. My first console ever.
They felt it was too childish and wanted something sleek, modern and adult
It exposes the internals to sunlight which can degrade them. Even a flash from a camera can crash computers with translucent cases. Also [...] they did look cheap after the novelty wore off.
cool thanks for your responses will help me form my thesis

Always thought this looked cheap as a kid so I never got any of my consoles with transparent plastic. My first PS1 memory card was a transparent orange one though. I kind of wish I had the transparent GBC.

I own a translucent PS4 Pro.
Switch, PS4, and Xbox One controllers were all transparent. What come back do you need?
They're not gaudy enough. They're all very dark or not very saturated in their color tint.
Why did translucent plastic die off? I never owned any outside of shitty PS2 memory cards but it always looked cool.
that shit look ugly once it got dirty

I own the Gameboy Advance in OP's image and it still looks great
moron
Get it anywhere near a smoker and it will look like complete shit. But you're smart enough not to hang around them.

It's legit beautiful and colorful like mother nature.
Everything has to be clean and digestible for the FIFA bro masses
