I thought it was really goofy how like, they wanted to have a horseback battle with ganondorf, but they couldn't actually come up with a way of getting you both there as part of the final battle. So they just didn't come up with a way of getting you there as part of the final boss so you just randomly teleport there with Zelda, and Epona is there and also Ganondorf is there too for no reason and you fight.
You leave because the castle is about to be destroyed by Midna, and then Ganon shows up to gloat because he immediately pushed Midna's shit in instead
The only weird parts are that Epona just happens to be there, and Zelda decided to take you to a random field far away instead of like the front gate or castle town or something
