Don't tell me you consider T5-T5DR the peak. Extremely safe games that went back to T3 formula after failed T4 experiment. The same way KoF2002 was another attempt at KoF98.
7 is by far the deepest, most balanced and most played Tekken ever. But yes, even 5 shits all over 3 (whose name is 3 because it has 3 viable characters)
I don't know, maybe it's just me but I never thought that Tekken 5 was as iconic as Tekken 3 or even Tag. But apparently it sold almost as much so I don't know. Modern MK games sell much more than MK2 and UMK3 but those two are still the peak for me.
Agreed. TTT was absolutely mind-blowing during the PS2's launch. I remember going to my local taco mac with a TTT machine and it shocked me how much better the PS2 version was.
In terms of soul and my own enjoyment (which is the most important) it's this. FGCgays with their le balance and le depth need not apply.
Tekken 7 is cool though.
TTT was great during its run. I played the game competitively from like 1999-2003. I was garbage, but I enjoyed the game. Nothing like getting rekt and finding how low you are on the totem pole of gaming talent. Oh well, I still enjoy booting the arcade version in MAME and practicing some mishima movement or EWGF combos or the ling fox step.
Tekken 5 was good but it wasn't as groundbreaking as 3. Tekken 3 was a huge leap over 2 while 5 was pretty much "let's go back to what made 3 great." Granted, 5 was more refined but not by some massive amount.
Nah almost all racing, sports and fighting games didn't peak in retro. But nostalgia is one hell of a drug
SF Alpha 3 is my favorite 2D fighting game and Soul Calibur for 3D.
What say you to that?
That I said almost
>Racing and fighting games peaked in retro
Very few. Definitely not Tekken

It's barely an incremental upgrade over Tag1 that stole a couple of features from VF4 to be "modern".
Those are still "retro" (well 5 is -- DR never got released on a retro platform).

Racing and fighting games peaked in retro and sports are non-games so whatever.
Sports games unironically peaked in retro as well, they’re just hollowed out husks for delivering pack opening micro transactions now.
If you mean something like NBA Jam then sure. Modern sports "games" are barely games.

true. tekken died with 4
5 and DR were amazing.

Tag Tournament 2 is the best and tier list homosexuals are just cringe larpers who watch other people play games
