When you read the fine print, you can actually play it anywhere that has wifi(including your phones maybe?) but it's still fairly limited. Better than being tethered to your house at least, if you have a friend with a PS5 that he barely uses it then you can probably use it to play his PS5 from your house which is...not terrible if you're a poorgay I guess.
I think people are significantly more interested in jailbreaking it or making it run video games on its own than they are using it as a Wii U tablet.
That being said if it can't AT LEAST play shit that other ~$150-$200 Chinese handhelds can through sideloading or modding, it's just objectively worthless.

Sony is doing stuff lately. PS5 bundle with fifa for 500 Euro is pretty much sold out in all shops here now and the bundle only came out on Friday. I have to assume they are building towards a slim ps5 coming out next month.

There's more to it than that. Last year they set up a stupid high (for Sony) goal of 25 million PS5's sold in 2023. When the results for Q1 were worse than projected, they said they'll "do whatever is necessary to reach that goal". Hence, bundles and discounts
they are sold out because the same people that hoarded PS5s to turn them around at a huge markup are doing the same with these. unfortunately for them no one will buy one from them
switch 2 is stated to be close to ps4 tech, which means sony should just make a ps4 handheld which would coast by on its massive library already + whatever new games get ported from switch
