this game had a higher budget than most AAA releases though. Also, weren't AAA devs the ones giving BG3 all this overexaggerated praise? Seems to me like they are overselling it exactly because they don't feel particularly intimidated by BG3. Same thing happened with TOTK. When they are actually feeling insecure about another developer, they usually react completely differently. See their reaction towards Elden Ring as an example of when triple A devs actually felt insecure.
The only people who were super insecure about Elden Ring were the Horizon Forbidden West devs because those morons released around another game that totally mogged them again (The first one was released next to BotW).
