I liked nuMW1 quite a bit but I just could not get into nuMW2, the weapon customization system changes were a big part of it for me, it just felt way more clunky than the previous and unlocks were way to grindy
I'll always find it funny that even though they have basically limitless funds and could easily make something incredibly compelling and engaging, say a STALKER-esque semi-open world single player that uses the entirety of the Warzone map to make a nice 20hr or so story, but instead churn out the exact same game every single year, year after year, because it prints ever so slightly more money, despite kicking fans in the teeth and sloughing off players with each new entry.
You can get from end to end in a vehicle on any warzone map in a couple minutes and is designed for warzone. Sounds like this would just make both sp and warzone worse

Yes, because the people who do play are buying them, the problem isn't that people aren't buying them, is that the game isn't retaining enough players, not nearly as much as MW2019.
If they make it a new game they can sell the same microtransactions to the same people. If it was a DLC those people would already have all that shit unlocked.

COD4 remake came out with Infinite Warfare, MW2's came out with MW2019.

These yearly COD installments are impossible to keep up with. I'm almost certain by now they've already made a Modern Warfare 3, but then I thought I saw Modern Warfare (1, I'm guessing) for sale pretty recently so maybe they are remakes? Who the frick knows. I also don't know what kind of sad, pathetic frick is still playing COD in 2023. I never got into it like some people, but I'll admit it was a big deal back in the COD 4 days and those next few releases, but that was like 15 years ago.

Then they became desperate and released a reboot called just Modern Warfare in 2019, there was a sequel last year, Modern Warfare II, and this one was originally meant to be DLC for MWII that got repurposed into a full game.
The thing is, there's also remakes of the original Modern Warfare and MW2, the ones from 2007 and 2009, that are called "Remastered" for some reason even though they are actual remakes.
So basically COD started losing strength and went hard on nostalgia pandering, which is fizzling out due to their incompetence.
If that's true, that just means they haven't grown out of the 15 year old demographic, which is why I haven't heard anyone talk about it in so long. Which I guess is better than trying to pander to a demo that doesn't exist.

I'll always find it funny that even though they have basically limitless funds and could easily make something incredibly compelling and engaging, say a STALKER-esque semi-open world single player that uses the entirety of the Warzone map to make a nice 20hr or so story, but instead churn out the exact same game every single year, year after year, because it prints ever so slightly more money, despite kicking fans in the teeth and sloughing off players with each new entry.
You can get from end to end in a vehicle on any warzone map in a couple minutes and is designed for warzone. Sounds like this would just make both sp and warzone worse

Yeah, forgot about that, big contender for the worst fricking UI in videogame history, not only is the main menu just a copy of Netflix's, but I think you need to go through 7 different submenus in order to customize your guns.
Also, a constantly rotating playlist so you can't even play the modes you want, you can only play what IW wants you to play.
One war zone that lasts forever that's better than Fortnite does not make as much money as a new war zone every year where players have to restart the grind and be incentivized to pay large sums of money for xp boosts. Players can cry all they want and downvote, an Activision executive will simply look at the massive revenue a "Kick out then invite back in" policy" provides and know they are succeeding.

The combination bugs, the constant loss of performance with every seasonal patch, and the bullshit events full of borderline impossible easter egg shit to do in Warzone just made me uninstall it.
I just don't understand the audacity of releasing such a broken game and expecting people to be so loyal to it to complete all those timed events that both requiere extreme amounts of luck, and others that requiere you to play like 6 hours a day.
The loss of FPS is what killed it for me.

Then they became desperate and released a reboot called just Modern Warfare in 2019, there was a sequel last year, Modern Warfare II, and this one was originally meant to be DLC for MWII that got repurposed into a full game.
The thing is, there's also remakes of the original Modern Warfare and MW2, the ones from 2007 and 2009, that are called "Remastered" for some reason even though they are actual remakes.
So basically COD started losing strength and went hard on nostalgia pandering, which is fizzling out due to their incompetence.
