It's good I was playing it last night and I think it still hold up well for the most part. I uninstalled 2042 after playing 4 for a little bit, I don't want to go back.

4 will never get remastered. Even though it was some warlord dude's private militia, China does NOT like any depiction of their army losing anything and 4 was banned in China because of it. They'd have to remove an entire faction in a game that only had 3.
It is still US vs Russia, the mercenary groups is just an excuse for the specialists. AI characters are regular US and Russian soldiers.

there's no loot boxes in 2042 and it's ridiculously easy to get to the max tier in it though, there's 12 weeks of challenges and you only need like 6-7 full weeks

Better than 3 but it has some really, really jank movement that actually makes the game worse.
Overall it has an insane amount of really stupid design decisions and absolute garbage maps like gulag and metro. The gunplay is fun but TTK is too short. Combined arms is incredibly trash because vehicles are these stupid infinite ammo having pieces of shit and the leveling and equip system removes any predictability from the vehicles which is pretty essential to make vehicle play fun to engage with.
Also the commander mode is fricking garbage and un-fun so nobody ever does it despite it being powerful.

BF4 had the larger scale idea which really ruined the dynamic and flow that 3 had. While I think 3 had problems with combat BF4 fixed those and then made new ones. Infantry can be really easily outclassed, tanks and the scout heli feel designed just to frick over infantry and the maps do not help. A lot of maps are just chock full of vehicles that just shit on infantry players who end up being the majority. Maps are also frustratingly designed and it feels like they went much more for style over substance (see Oman)
also frick dice for no mod support and frick them for bringing back some of the most meh BF3 maps (caspian fricking sucked and still sucks)
