Peak atmosphere and great fun to kill half a day in one sitting, but the relatively minimal content means replaying it more than once a year gets boring. The Hell 2 is the best way to play today.
because it's elevated by the atmosphere and how attached you become to every single NPC.
on top of that the simple equipment system makes upgrades feel monumental.

Best atmosphere of all the Diablo games, even if the mechanics are dated at this point.
2 was the start of it being more heroic, but struck a pretty decent balance between the old aesthetic with the more heroic.
>the mines
An elaborate maze with many chokepoints to manage and need for crowd control >the hell
Hell enemies have much more dynamic enemies (ceaseless knights; teleporting sorcerers; hit and running succubi) whereas the Act 4 bridge is just pitter-patter from dumb morons that walk in short circles
Better than Diablo by several orders of magnitude. >but i think dialbo 2 is better!
That's because you're 32-year-old underage homosexuals. I'm sick of hearing stupid opinions by people who were born just a couple years after me. Everything you say and think is just wrong.
No, Diablo 2 isn't better than Diablo 1.
No, Harry Potter 3 isn't better than Harry Potter 2.
No, the Cell Saga isn't the best or even a good Dragon Ball arc.
No, Final Fantasy XII isn't "the last good Final Fantasy". Final Fantasy X was, at least until XIV came out.
No, Metal Gear Solid Peacewalker wasn't a good game; Metal Gear Solid Portable Ops was.
No, Ocarina of Time isn't the quintessential Zelda game; A Link to the Past is.
No, Morrowind and Skyrim aren't the best Elder Scrolls games; Oblivion is.
No, Dark Souls isn't the best From Software game; Demon's Souls is, because it has the boss where you have to beat another player.
No, Doom isn't the most influential FPS; Wolfenstein 3D is.
I like it, haven't played it in like 20 years tbh. I know purists will seethe but I like Diablo 2 a lot more, one of my fave games of all time. Diablo and Blizzard died forever when they released 3. Never been more disappointed by a video game release. It's so sad what they've done to it with 3, Immortal, and now 4. Pure consolegay garbage with absolutely no soul. It's incredible how a game about killing monsters and finding loot has the most boring, mindless items and combat imaginable. And yes I know we're a long way from Blizzard North.
You know how Ganker seethed about Cyberpunk having daylight, because in their minds, the genre should just be night time? That's how I feel about seeing daylight and overworld travel in Diablo 2. Frick that gay shit. The game should literally be dungeon crawling deeper and deeper into the pits of hell.
I love classic D1. Probably one of the first computer games I ever played, even if I could never get past the first floor as a child. Mechanically it's very primitive, but the presentation is great. The sound and art and writing all tie together in a perfect package. I give it a playthrough at least once every year. I like how the game is all about adapting to the situation. Builds and items are not guaranteed. Enemies appear very early who are flat out immune to certain types of damage. Unfortunately later ARPGs took the wrong lesson and just turned into a loot treadmill where you max one "I win" instant-kill-everyone-on-the-screen skill.
I love how to-the-point it is compared to other ARPGs. You can realistically die in the very first room of the game and depending on your build there's lots of dangerious parts in a typical playthrough. Modern ARPGs treat the whole game as a tutorial and NG+ is where the real game begins, I've yet to play one that makes me think that's a good idea.
AHH FRESH MEAT
this, this is how you make a kid shit all over the chair.
modern devs should take a few notes from this classic.
It's fun once, take a friend along for the journey and get to Diablo 2 the vast improvement and classic.
Great atmosphere and music.
Not very fun to actually play.
No thoughts, only sex with rogue

What a pain in the ass.
unironically the best game in the entire franchise
Explain your reasoning.
keep it simple, stupid
Thanks Todd, but real answers, please.

>Say a meme
>Get a meme in response
>Acts offended
Pussy.
I love the atmosphere, but the gameplay is pretty dull. I don't need D2's turbo speed autism, but you move pretty damn slow.

better than diablo 2 act 3 and 4
Act 3 > Act 1 > Act 2 >>> Act 4 >> Act 5
>Act 3 at the top
Finally, somebody who underst-

Diablo is LITERALLY D2 act 4: The Game
>Diablo is the D2 act where it's nothing but giant empty floors and long narrow bridges
yes have you even played it
Name a single part of Diablo 1 like Act 4 of Diablo 2
the mines
the hell

I SENSE A SOUL IN SEARCH OF ANSWERS
She's an evil b***h in D3 or something
>D3
He just doesn't read the wiki
She was just misunderstood. 🙁
sex with angie

There are shrines that permanently increase your max health to balance them out
>Shrines that permanently increase a spell level but lower your max mana by 10%
I really like the caves soundtrack
the goat diablo

literally it's ok when Diablo 1 does it (not Diablo 2 though!)
Better than Diablo by several orders of magnitude.

Wrong.
literally every one of these opinions is wrong

Moron detected, opinion discarded.

Alright, you dropped the ball on saying Oblivion, next time say Daggerfall and you will do better with this post.

3 got better over time. It's not as good as 1 or 2, but it's a decent Gauntlet-style game.
What's the quote in this game that is burned in your head?
>I am no beast of burden!

Gotta PAAAAWN some of this stuff
Gotta PAAAAWN some of this stuff
playing warrior is torture idk how anyone does it
because warrior looks sick as hell in the full plate, perfection
Just like SOTN, it has a a great feeling to it but its gameplay is lacking hard.
Still waiting on those Aerosmith tickets.
They should add Na'krul to D4 as an april fool's event or something.
Got it in 1997 and all my neighborhood friends wanted to come to my house to play it. I used bobafett’s trainer on bnet and was a god.
Also, this is a great video
