>art direction
can you elaborate? what you posted is character art from a mobile game, if you don't think it looks good blame the artist's style but it has absolutely nothing to do with the "art direction" of final fantasy mainline or tactics
I'm mostly just talking out of my ass I've never played any of the games. Don't take my opinion too seriously. I just think a lot of the character stuff specifically looks bland or uninspired.
>muuuuh new gods who are just slightly more powerful than humans >muuuh cycle never eends >muuuuh toin coss and other rng garbage that wastes your time
6/10 Le'Garde is based. Hopefully the next game is better.
Surprisingly it's scarier than most advertised horror games.
And I am not even sure Fear & Hunger tried to be a horror game so much as it wanted to be creepy and dreadful.
It's just coordinated experiment by tripple a publishers. They paid influencers to talk about to see how much following a very obscure can get in a certain amount of time. The data is extremely valueable.
It's not a fun game to play blind, but you might have a lot more enjoyment if you know what you're doing first, just as you're listening to some youtuber talk about it first instead of actually playing.
The game's art, art direction, and overall presentation/worldbuilding are its strongest assets by a country mile, and the actual gameplay itself is quite a slog. I have never played another game that outright says to the player "Don't fricking play me" before, but it's actually quite fitting for the tone of the game — whether or not that outweighs the actual fact that it tends to be more of an "experience" rather than a game you can play for fun without stressing your balls off, that's for you to decide. Fricking love de'Arce though, been meaning to try and get into it again and actually finish it
the video was just about highlighting and recommending some of the best rpg maker games, it wasn't like a video essay or anything. I agree about D'Arce, her character design is the thing that actually got me to look into the game beyond surface level.
>It's not a fun game to play blind, but you might have a lot more enjoyment if you know what you're doing first,
So you constantly need to use wiki in order to progress without fricking up?
You can play it blind but your gonna lose a ton. Honestly unlike what he said go in blind MAYBE just look up what you get from the story choices since I wouldnt put playing without sprint on my worst enemy. After you beat the game once which will almost certainly be the worst ending then maybe look up how you get the more interesting endings.
You know how metroid is more fun if you already know generally where to go so you don't have to waste time backtracking everywhere? I think he just means you'll enjoy it more once you've got the hang of things.
You'll miss a lot of stuff without the wiki, I recommend following the maps on the first 2-3 floors and then going blind the rest of the way once you get a hang of it. It's meant to be replayed a couple times with the different playable characters and different endings you can aim for.
The game almost challenges you to see how long you can last without guides. Everyone's mileage will vary but the game really is at its best when you're mostly blind. I say mostly because some mechanics basically feel hidden to the player
The game starts out quick and expects one to dick around in it to find out all the secrets and how to progress.
A player who knows what they are doing can book it through a run in like 2-3 hours but the dicking around getting fricked over and learning from it is a part of the experience.
>That one cavedweller that wants to know about you that gets killed
Even genociding the place, sparing her and then forcing them to obey you doesn't stop her from getting killed
the first one is great, skip the second one tho, it turned into >LOL DID YOU GET THAT EPIC REFERENSE? I'MA NERD LIKE YOU GUYZ
and also there an OVERLY glorified troon, and a few girl bosses, including a cripple.
how the frick is that pozzed, it's just an oft-repeated meme
i can understand thinking it's lame but pozzed isn't the word for that, repeating the same memespeak for years on end has greatly damaged your ability to convey thoughts appropriately
anon if it was a troony then there'd be a game mechanic requiring you to dilate every so often or else you become unable to pee and die of infection
jerk off was a mechanic for his stalker so why wouldn't that be in
newbies don't know the difference, their brain has been rotted
There is no difference between a transsexual and transvestite to the youngins. They keep telling me these are hate terms. I ask how. They can't tell me. They just know they're hate terms.
unlike most other people, i didn't found out about this game from the viral videos. I got it recommended in a steam discovery que mostly because i recently bought dd2 (against my better judgement). Just like dd2 fear and hunger gets out classed by dd1, although in a strictly atmospheric/artistic avenue. Still, I think it's a decent addition to the schizocore genre if not only for the lore and setting.
I found this game after looking it up in tv tropes after finding it in a "horror games" iceberg pretty deep down (say middle of the iceberg) and i liked its dreadfull medieval-esque atmosphere
Play the first one. The other anon wasn't wrong about there being references to the first game in the sequel. Also start on Fear and Hunger difficulty.
Either is fine. Outside a few refrences and a tiny bit of lore knowledge you can exploit if you play 2 first its not that big a deal. Typical disconnected story with Easter eggs sequel rules. 1 is more unique and interesting but 2 is funner as a game. The only thing I would recommend even if going in blind is to start with sprint when you play 1. It makes you walk faster when exploring and is a god send for not losing your mind to slow movement.
bros I just got the Escape? ending and was holding space bar to speed up the credits
but then a message pop up showed up and it got instantly skipped because I was holding space bar
anyone remembers what it says? Can't find any info and people on youtube just cut the credits from the video
>play the game and adore it, become a fan >it suddenly gets popular >immediately becomes bitter and lose all interest on it
Why does this keep happening
Reminder to play with the Reign of the New Gods mod. It adds some QoL and much needed bug fixes. No, it doesn't make the game easier, but it does allow you to get the S-Endings on F&H and T&S, but ignore it if you want to do them only on Hardmode.
There's some schizo core but it's more about occult shit and higher beings interfering with manking.
You will eventually have to learn about them to understand how to raise your magic affinity.
I tried it, seemed really cool but I just couldn't get into it. Seemed to encourage careful exploration for goodies and dodging enemies, but I just kept running out of torches and stuff. >Why not just play on easy mode to ignore the darkness?
Whaaat? Easy modo? Forget it.
>Do people open these up just to be annoying on purpose?
better you just check the /vrpg/ threads then, because they're the closest thing to pre-basedtube F&H discussion and will do a better job at explaining to you the plus/negs of the game, You come to Ganker to sperg and complain, not discuss.

I'M A HUGE FEAR AND HUNGRY FAN..... THIS GAME BROKE ME WITH ITS SCHIZCORE LUDO-GAME-LOOP
As a game it's total garbage. Trial and error with RNG frickery that makes it a wiki game (one where you won't have any fun if you don't have the wiki open to consult while playing).
As an experience it's pretty neat. If you're looking for a depressing, bleak, and sometimes excessively edgy game it provides like no other.
Its a fishing update with a zone to match.
There are plans to try and implement another one of the contestants as playable but no more after that if its are much work to properly implement (writing up new dialogue and altering events to make space for them).
Sound direction is absolutely on point. It's delightfully janky and frustrating. Not a perfect game, certainly not everyone comes to eventually enjoy it, but it's worth a look if you like what you see
Will the game actually be optimized or is that orange homosexual still going to build the entire game up of if-else statements? I can't even emulate the game properly because of how dense it is
I got filtered and didn't want to try suffering a shitload where I figure out what the frick is going on. Shame too because I think I stopped right before the last bits of the game, right before Mahabre and Le'garde, but I'm not starting from scratch for that shit.
Is it just me or does Termina feel less fun to play despite having much more time and effort put into it?
I think its because of how slow you are to start so the early learning phase is less fun.
In the first game you could just keep going after a loss and be back up to where you were in like 10 minutes tops while likely getting at least one directly useful or run affecting item, in Termina even skipping through the into you need to run around in the forest for a bit collecting stuff that most of the time is just immediately useless before getting to the game proper.
He fricked up by giving you two directions to explore right at the start. At least in the first one you have a vague sense that you're supposed to go down. Here you have to decide on left or right and always know that you're missing out on the other side.
my thoughts is that you should go back to >>/vg/
my thoughts *are* that you should go back to vg
You will never be a janny.
and my le thoughts are that you should have a nice day fricking Black person homosexual
Tell that to the YGO trannies first
Cope
Make sure to use the Le'garde mod.
I guess there's a rectal bleeding status effect
Isn't that the "muh edgy and dark ugh such cruel shock value gore" game?
that's my main reservation about it
what a homosexual, the shock value and all the raping is what made it special
Shit I guess I got filtered by not wanting to see cute girls get raped so badly both of their legs break in my vidya. Fricking disgusting creeps.
I like this character's design
that's just Ramza with breasts
why is the final fantasy art direction so shit?
>art direction
can you elaborate? what you posted is character art from a mobile game, if you don't think it looks good blame the artist's style but it has absolutely nothing to do with the "art direction" of final fantasy mainline or tactics
I'm mostly just talking out of my ass I've never played any of the games. Don't take my opinion too seriously. I just think a lot of the character stuff specifically looks bland or uninspired.
It's borrowed from berserk or totally uninspired. It fits with the tone and direction of the game well though. I woulden't have it any other way tbh.
I think the stuff from ff7 is cool though
I love FF. A lot more than F&H. I still don't think the over the top anime-esq designes would work in F&H tho.
nah I just meant in general ff character design is ugly, not even in relation to fear and hunger
White casca
This sprite always confused me. It looks like she's twisted, her feet point behind her and her neck seems odd
>muuuuh new gods who are just slightly more powerful than humans

I bet the new game is called Brave & Full
Surprisingly it's scarier than most advertised horror games.
And I am not even sure Fear & Hunger tried to be a horror game so much as it wanted to be creepy and dreadful.
what do they do all day?
Fap to Marina porn.
Wait, that’s what I do. Am I a new god?
nah you're just a gay god
Fapping to Marina isn’t gay.
yes it is.
No it’s not. Especially if she’s fricking Abella or Karin.
>she
Yes.
nah, he'll never be a woman and you're a gay
you gotta get your porn addiction figured out man
>I listened to a tuber talk about it
You will not be missed.
tfw you go on any other website but Ganker
why did this game revlatively blow up recently aside from the sequel? I've seen the guards before in rpgmaker threads 4 years ago.
It's just coordinated experiment by tripple a publishers. They paid influencers to talk about to see how much following a very obscure can get in a certain amount of time. The data is extremely valueable.
the puppeteer's hands pull the strings that get you to play some indie rpg nobody cares about.. now yuo see....
Paying some influencers is peanuts for that valueable data. Admittely, I could be wrong and this is just indeed a coincidence
>t. about to make Francois very angry
idk about recently but the mood and enemy design definitely make it stand apart from other rpgmaker slop
eceleb did a video essay on it

pretty sure the mechanic girl is a terraria reference
I wouldn't mind the Black person if not for the unnecesary commentary of N'ashara saying he has a big dick
sounds pretty pozzed
how the frick is that pozzed, it's just an oft-repeated meme

there's probably some bbc threads on /b/ you could go visit if you like that kind of thing
you sound like you've been turned into a literal flowchart-thinking moron via Ganker overuse
the yellow Black person is the best character in the series
>The way he trolls you in the cathedral
Miro had lots of fun writing him, plus you get to read Nash's insults if you play as him, I love Termina
>Skip the Second one
>Berserkgay
>calling anything else glorified troon
As expected of having shit taste.
he's not wrong
Why do BerserkBlack folk always have shit taste?
They're not even a troon, just a trap.
that's not a raisin! it's a dried grape!
newbies don't know the difference, their brain has been rotted
NO GUYS I SWEAR IT'S NOT A troony ITS JUST A GUY PRENTENDING TO BE A GIRL
anon if it was a troony then there'd be a game mechanic requiring you to dilate every so often or else you become unable to pee and die of infection
jerk off was a mechanic for his stalker so why wouldn't that be in

why D'arce new gord form is her just bald lmao? and Ragn looks so fricking dumb with that face
only cool looking ones are Enki and Cahara
>I listened to a tuber talk about it and I'm interested
have a nice day
do you think I watched a full playthrough or something? where do you hear about obscure rpgs and why is that place cooler than a youtube video?
i am brought to despair and starvation when i am reminded of fear & hunger
If I'm going in completely blind and just want to try it out, should I get the first one or the sequel?
first one
I should mention that I don't give a shit that there's a black dude with BBC, I'm mostly here for the atmosphere, lore and gameplay
Play the first one. The other anon wasn't wrong about there being references to the first game in the sequel. Also start on Fear and Hunger difficulty.
The atmosphere in the first one feels more oppresive. Prehevil doesn't hit the same as the dungeons.
Either is fine. Outside a few refrences and a tiny bit of lore knowledge you can exploit if you play 2 first its not that big a deal. Typical disconnected story with Easter eggs sequel rules. 1 is more unique and interesting but 2 is funner as a game. Lots of trial and error.

I think you should jump in a toilet, Black person.
Why specifically a toilet?
And what makes you feel that way?
Tedious
i've only played the 2nd one, is the first one just as punishing and time wasting.
First one is easier because you can save as much as you want.
>play the game and adore it, become a fan
>it suddenly gets popular
>immediately becomes bitter and lose all interest on it
Why does this keep happening
because you're a contrarian butthole that only likes games other people dislike
t. twittergays
contrarianism is the lifeblood of Ganker tourists
Are you admitting to being a tourist, or do you have a very weak grasp on the english language?
I don't have this problem because I don't base my entire identity around being a contrarian.
Because everything that becomes popular it become shit a good example of it is elden ring.
Elden Ring was popular even before it was released
Not a really good example
eh, a better example would be ultrakill, but those gays were insufferable before they kneeled to homosexuals. Disco Elysium too

>QoL and much needed bug fixes
I would never compromise Miro's vision.
I love schizocore.
Should I play this?
Is it good schizo or just unfinished writing?
Is there a straight line from the gameplay to its themes?
it's not schizocore, it's just bad writing hidden under decent-ish prose. Stick with BS, F&H is more about masochistic gameplay than anything else
Thanks anon, you're a godsend <3
There's some schizo core but it's more about occult shit and higher beings interfering with manking.
You will eventually have to learn about them to understand how to raise your magic affinity.
>shitzocore
I hate quirkydepressed zoomers so much
You're trying too hard.
If this doesnt contain an insomniac reference im not opening it
What the frick happened to Fear and Hunger threads? Do people open these up just to be annoying on purpose?
It got popular which instantly eradicates any chance at discussion

This always happens with Ganker. There are no exceptions.

I'M A HUGE FEAR AND HUNGRY FAN..... THIS GAME BROKE ME WITH ITS SCHIZCORE LUDO-GAME-LOOP
I became a huge fan when the first game got the e-girl mod. Does 2 have something like that?
just wait until the termina sprite mod that turns tanaka into a e-girl
which youtuber are you talking about? The video I watched was from Majuular and I don't think he's a white guilt cretin
supereyepatchwolf. a leftist pseudoint who basically brought FH to the mainstream
Is the 2nd one still being updated? Finished the 1st and want to play the second one
eventually, yes
Miro (main dev) is currently working on the next major update, he had a huge setback so don't except it to be out for at least a good while
What characters will the next update have?
Probably none, he's adding more content to the early game and more interactions for characters we already have.
Absolutely don't count on it but maybe probably Tanaka
Its a fishing update with a zone to match.
There are plans to try and implement another one of the contestants as playable but no more after that if its are much work to properly implement (writing up new dialogue and altering events to make space for them).
Sound direction is absolutely on point. It's delightfully janky and frustrating. Not a perfect game, certainly not everyone comes to eventually enjoy it, but it's worth a look if you like what you see

soulful programming
I heard RPGmaker games need to be coded this way but I have no experience with the engine so it could be complete bullshit
You know what? Termina is better than the first game, and it will even be more so after all the playable characters are implemented
A bearfricking thread died for this
well we have an unironic troon/leftycuck samegayging his own posts so a bearfricking thread ain't as bad as this
I got filtered and didn't want to try suffering a shitload where I figure out what the frick is going on. Shame too because I think I stopped right before the last bits of the game, right before Mahabre and Le'garde, but I'm not starting from scratch for that shit.
Too much wiener magic too
Is it just me or does Termina feel less fun to play despite having much more time and effort put into it?
I think its because of how slow you are to start so the early learning phase is less fun.
In the first game you could just keep going after a loss and be back up to where you were in like 10 minutes tops while likely getting at least one directly useful or run affecting item, in Termina even skipping through the into you need to run around in the forest for a bit collecting stuff that most of the time is just immediately useless before getting to the game proper.
He fricked up by giving you two directions to explore right at the start. At least in the first one you have a vague sense that you're supposed to go down. Here you have to decide on left or right and always know that you're missing out on the other side.
Why aren't there more punishing and non-linear'sh rpgs like F&H?
I would have probably loved it when I jerked off to guro every day.
Yeah I kinda figured it attracted that crowd of subhuman filth. Oh well guess I'll go back to Skyrim.
i'm not even hungry
