Bought it yesterday. It has crashed 3 times on me in about 6 hours of play. Each time it crashed it was towards the end of a map and the game doesn't have autosaving or any saving during a map so had to restart every time. Will probably drop it if it happens again because it's pretty fricking frustrating.

feels like it has the same issue of Subnautica where it could have been a modern classic if it leaned more into the horror elements but what it actually wants to be is a really boring survival crafter. There are like 30 fricking materials and gathering them never becomes a passive thing so you just need to keep going on hundreds of runs to craft shit that will guaranteedly get broken and need replacements meaning none of the expensive crafting options actually feel worthwhile and you just keep driving around with a shitbox
By the point I unlocked almost the entire tech tree I was practically done with the game and none of the shit remaining was or felt useful to me since all of it would take dozens of hours of collecting materials to craft while also knowing one bad run would break all of it. It fricking sucks.
And the game isn't scary. It's just stressful. You're constantly trying to dodge abnormalities not because they're dangerous or creepy but because every pint of damage is precious crafting resources you will need to forage like a motherfricker
And the story is mostly boring. All the characters are mostly apathetic to you and just use you through the entire game, you never get to see any of them and their stories are resolved very abruptly. There is no final test of your skills besides "hey can you drive to this place"
The music selection is tiny and you get repeated songs very easily especially if you turn on streamer mode and most of the songs aren't even that good.
I was very excited for this game since the first announcement trailers came out and was left severely disappointed. By hour 15 I just wanted it to end but it just kept going. It's like every 7th gen AA/AAA western game that had an okay beginning but absolute dogshit later halves because that was the point where they already made their money.
I'm really fricking done with pacific drive and I never want to think about it again.

Yeah I had to get my thoughts on this game to *someone* because I know it seems like a pretty interesting game but I'm 100% sure most people who play it will never beat it. I was VERY close to dropping it but one day I just decided to chug it hard and beat it as hard as I could just to get it out of my system. I uninstalled so fricking quickly right after I reached credits.
It's just. Disappointing. It's like the devs knew they could have made a very interesting game but they have the western game dev mind poison where you need to make something mid because they're obsessed with random fricking gaming trends without ever looking into why people like those trends. It's the difference between derivative and inspired, you need to understand why you like the things you're copying and why people think those things are good BEFORE you copy it, or else you're just going to end up making trash. Despite having the perfect recipe for a really interesting survival HORROR game, they went with the boring option and made a survival crafting rouguelike that doesn't take notes from the best games in either of those genres. So the game has this really cool atmosphere and scenery but you never feel anything because your mind is thinking "I gotta keep looking outside and pressing the radar so I find the fricking swamp crystals which I need fricking two hundred of so I can craft some better parts that will surely break but I need them to deal with the endgame areas which are practically minefields..." or some shit 24/7 and it just fricking sucks.
I already felt kinda annoyed enabling shorter nights because driving at night is way too draining on resources, I wasn't going to enable another one of those options just to turn the game into an even more boring snoozefest. If you need to disable *DAMAGE* to not make your game be an insufferable piece of shit I think you need to go back to the fricking design phase.
I'm not going to judge, if you don't like the game as it is, use whatever option you have to make it better
or drop it and call it rightfully shit, I suppose

I finished it the other day, it was ok. My brain completely switched off from the story after an hour or so so it was just a load of talking and me not understanding wtf was happening, something hallucinations and artifacts, ending was also meh and more talking, voice actors are decent though.
Car fuel pump should be a toggle so you don't have to hold a button for like 30 seconds.
Also, the game has a horrible save system and doesn't value your time at all so set aside a good chunk of time before starting a drive as you can't save until you return.
Walking simulator with a car sidekick but with the bonus busywork of a survival game. Neat environment and concept, with some okay storybeats/character voices ruined by insane padding and fricking terrible pacing. Enjoy spending 1 whole hour just sifting through fricking dumpsters to find plastic and other trash.
I don't know this game, therefore it is a shit game. Unironically.
