Best GTA clone of all time, fun and doesn't drag on for too long
My only complaint is with driving which does not feeel great and shooting which felt unnecessary >sequel never
Both underrated and overpraised. Overall a fun game for one playtrough.
Its open world is the weakest part. Only the first island feels developed and somewhat rich with conent. The game would probably worked better with hubs instead of open world.
Really good.
If it had GTA on the cover, then it would be considered to be one the best, if not the best, GTA game.
>If it had GTA on the cover, then it would be considered to be one the best, if not the best, GTA game.
What? The map is horrible and poorly detailed.
Sleeping Dogs is a great GTA clone however it's not the best that goes to Watch Dogs 2. Much more enjoyable world, radios, diversity of missions and multiplayer modes like the hacking/hide and go seek. Sleeping Dogs has better driving and the fighting+environmental interactions make combat feel immensely satisfying but I think Watch Dogs 2 is better overall. It's also a massive shame the PS4 port of Sleeping Dogs was so buggy compared to the original PS3 release
WD2 may have a Black person protagonist and insufferable characters, but it feels more like a real game in a Ubislop skin suit than an actual Ubislop game. Most people who complain about it haven't actually played it, and ironically it has an anti-Silicon-Valley techno-tyranny story. It's basically "what if all the shit we want to do to the right wing was actually done to everyone equally because we didn't really think it through when we gave one side all the power?"

It was fun when I first played it. I'm surprised I even bought it at all. Must have been because of Square. It's good but ultra forgettable, I almost can't remember a single thing about it since I played it all those years ago.
Yakuza is superior in every way but you can go on cars i think which is pretty cool
all these games are gay becuase investors want to make bank day one
you cant make great physic smehcanics and stuff better than GTA in a single iteration
dunno why are people so infatuated with these games honestly if you want a sandbox play gta but thats all threse games are. the driving sucks the shooting sucks the stories suck level deisgn suck the music sucks these GTA games have fricking nothing going for them beyond beign a sandbox, atleast san andreas had a cool ambiance/feeling while playing, true crime as well but thats about it. actually true crime actually was more fun than gta. isnt sleeping dog some kind of true crime reboot or whatever?
This isn't "Day One", Sleeping Dogs was part of the True Crime series until very late in development, when Activision dropped it.
Which makes it even more depressing that Squeenix left it where it is, because Streets of LA is fricking great too. I'd much rather play these games than GTA, but I can't tell you why.
>Sleeping Dogs was part of the True Crime series until very late in development
False, they decided to relabel it True Crime: Hong Kong part way into development when they saw what was done and noticed how similar it was to their last commercial failure. Reading the story of this game is crazy, we very nearly never got to play it at all
Also, apparantly Radical Entertainment's Scarface Empire got cancelled to make way for True Crime: Hong Kong, with Activision laying off Radical's staff, with a lot of them going to work for United Front.
Replaying it now on ps5, I have the ps4 definitive edition copy and it fricking freezes half the time I try to turn it on. Real fricking nice backwards compatibility, sony
Other than that, the game is still really good, excited to play the DLC's for the first time once I finish the story again. The combats pretty simple, but its still satisfying chopping people with cleavers/shooting them in the dick
Ganker loves this game, my sister loves it too. But honestly, I never saw the appeal.
It feels like a shallow GTA clone. Driving is terrible, the graphics (especially character models) have a gross plastic sheen to them.
The ads on the radio aren't parodies or otherwise interesting. They sound exactly like real ads to the point where I want to just turn the radio off. It's like someone was told "we need fake ads like GTA", and just made some plausible sounding ads without really getting the point.
I don't know, the whole thing just feels "off" somehow.
I wish more open world games went for a smaller but ultra detailed world. Hong Kong in this is one of the most immersive representations we have of a real life place in gaming.
Which is strange because the game basically has cardboard backdrops showing big city areas with highrise buildings, in areas you can never access and they just exist to provide an illusion of the city being bigger than the accessible area.
never played it. thanks for asking

TPBP
Very good.
It's a bitter sweet thing that we haven't seen a sequel. I want more Sleeping Dogs, but many studios have a habit of fricking up with sequels.

A really fricking fun game.
A perfect 7/10
TAKES GUTS TO WEAR THAT
A man without pork bun is never whole

Game of the decade.
You could frick white russian and american b***hes with your Big Chinese wiener in this game

MAN WHO NEVER EAT PORK BUN NEVER A WHOLE MAN!
I miss Vancouver game devs
WHY DO YOU NOT HAVE PORK BUN IN YOUR HAND

underrated
Sweet, but short (literally me)
Genuinely cool!
WEI SHEN MOTHERFRICKER
Actually incredible game. Yakuza meets GTA, would absolutely recommend.
I love how this is one of the few games everyone agrees is good here. Even if its not perfect, most everyone who plays it has fond memories of it
i liked it
fun exploring HK
also good fighting system
and fun shooting up the nightclub lol
and you can frick hookers
good game
Don't forget watching some movies it took inspiration from like Infernal Affairs, kino of the highest order.
Very good. I found it more enjoyable than GTA proper, with a much better setting too.
"YOU LOOK LIKE YOU COULD USE A PORK BUN" has been engrained in my head for almost a decade, kek

And yet you cant interact with anything.
It's like shenmue 2s huge downgraded from 1.
In 1 you could walk into stores and practically pick up everything and look at it. That was gone in 2.
20+ years later and this shits less immersive than shenmue 2 was
This game is incredibly underrated. Even criminally underrated.
Square Enix cancelled the series, but decided to give us slop like Forspoken and Balan Wonderland. It boggles the mind.
Ludokino that made kid me love hong kong/china and think Japan was overrated and gay. Still my opinion today
a great game and i'm mad it was one-and-done
