From some quick Googling, the change in OP's pic seems to be new to the Switch version.
I guess Nintendo wanted to change it because the act of a man gifting israeliteellery to a woman was viewed as limited or exclusive. Though come to think of it, I have no idea if same sex or alternative couples gift israeliteellery in the way that a man would a woman. Maybe it's old fashioned now?
The lonely spam email and the name change from Wollywog to Wollyhop were made in the PAL exclusive Wii release of Pikmin 2 with "New Play Control".
If these changes were present in the recent US release of Pikmin 2 for Switch, it indicates they used the PAL release as the basis for the Switch?
I have the pal version of 2 on GameCube and it uses the same SPAM message.

Frankly I just don't see the point of translations that change the entire sentence or meaning? If the sentence in japanese is "this sandwich was delicious" why are they even allowed to change it to something like "hotdogs are better than sandwiches!" I mean it just makes no fricking sense to me? I understand direct translations can not make sense in the english language and you need to change or insert words here or there, but only a little bit for what is fully necessary.
The point is literally to twist the original to the desired purpose of progressivism.
Translation can always be done word for word. The extremely poor excuse of cultural references would not exist if they didn't spend 30 years removing these references.
