Soul Blazer has got to be one of the best action RPGs out there. Amazing music, fun combat, immersive story that greatly unfolds as you unlock more people and buildings for the towns.
Why don’t any new games compare to the legacy of older games?

There's no audience and nobody wanting to tell a story like that anymore. All the whimsical stuff in the game would likely be "cringe" nowadays.
>nobody wanting to tell a story like that anymore
I do. I plan on making little action games that tell stories in the same vein one day. I don't care if I don't pull in a huge audience, I just want to do it because I think it's cool.
I really like Soul Blazer.
Don't forget THE DOG
What's that last game? I only recognize the trilogy.
Robotrek
I will carry that tradition on
Once I finish my Doom mods, one day you'll see it.
I love the dog called turbo.
I always call my dog turbo in games because of this.
Please do, anon. If I heard of a Soul Blazer-inspired game coming out I would buy it instantly.

I will now buy your game
This has been one of my favorite games since I first played it in 1993. It's become much more well-known though. I say it's still a bit underrated because it is better than it's two sequels. The price now reflects it. I still regret not picking up a CIB copy for $200 when I had the chance.
It's simple fun. Feels more like an NES game though.
I'd rather play pic related. I suggest you do if you haven't.
It's too arcade-y
Literally unplayable because of that annoying orb constantly circling around you
Not at all.
The orb is how you shoot magic and there are neat ways to game the orb to extend outwards
Outside of very select groups, hardly anyone talks about this or even Secret of Evermore. I grew up when these came out and wish that people knew about how awesome they are and not how much money they are now worth
>hardly anyone talks about soul blazer
Maybe because it's a dogshit game....
Buddy, if I knew where you lived I’d come
To your house and slam your cupboards.
>little known games
>Soul Blazer
Ganker needs to leave.
I fricking loved Illusion of Gaia and Terranigma but never played Soul Blazer because it was too fricking slow. I tried it earlier this year and really loved it. Still need to finish it but re-growing the cities through fricking around and exploration really is really cool and you actually get kind of invested in the characters and story
If you haven’t tried Lunar: Silver Story then you’re in for a treat. Takes about 24 hours to beat and the npcs actually change their words constantly as you play. Amazing story and a combat system that leaves you satisfied.
This is the highest tier available for game greatness
I haven't but it's been on my list forever. If I remember correctly it was super expensive back in the day so it's sort of this "forbidden fruit" in my mind and worried it won't live up to that
It’s an experience so unique and immersive that once you’re an hour or 2 in, you’ll be aware of how special this is.
You won’t have many like this and it’s worth it to play.
It’s one of the few games that really makes you sad when it’s over because it was such a fantastic time
I would have liked Soul Blazer if it had a purple haired babe like elle
D&D Mystara, top 3 action rpg
the dark souls of arcades
