FOTM games: >probably 20 hours of you and your friends fricking around in some shitty new game and having a good time >price of entry is $20 (aka two beers at a trendy bar)
It was fun for a little while but I really regret dropping $30 on a game in early access. I thought I learned my lesson from raft back in the day but i guess I'm actually moronic.
>friends whine at me to play an MMO >"no bro this one is way different you gotta try it you gotta try it" >try it >it sucks >they stop playing in a few weeks anyway

Damn, for a second I thought I posted on reddit.
>Erm every game needs to last forever and ever, especially when they're 30 dollars and have a big EARLY ACCESS sign slapped on the store page
Damn, for a second I thought I was reading a Twitter thread
None. I don't get the appeal of these janky unfinished multiplayer games. My impression is that zoomers treat them like places to hang out with their friends and just collectively move on to the next one when they get boring. I can't really understand wanting to play a bad game, though, even if the bugs are funny.
I refunded Valheim because frick that level of tree punching. Played Palworld for 15 hours. Considering refunding Helldivers 2, as I never stick with these types of games.
I bought Aliens: Colonial marines as a child and it turned me off preordering forever.
The I played fall guys because it was free on PSGold and my friend really wanted to play it with people.
game became unbearable once they started vaulting maps bc MUH SEASONS
they also got really butthurt about finals that multiple people could win which is why they started spamming shit like Blast Ball and the kraken one
You're either moronic for not looking up what genre it was before buying it, or you're extremely moronic for knowing what genre it was and buying it anyway knowing you wouldn't like it.
Based on your taste I'm going to guess you don't participate much in the crafting and building aspects of the genre, or you cheat a lot with creative mode or something, because Valheim is still the best all-around open world survival crafting game released to-date due in large part to the freedom of its building system compared to the made-for-morons lego duplo systems of games like subnautica or palworld. I also don't understand how you could call Valheim boring but enjoy The Forest, which is one of the most tedious games in the entire genre.
Funny how most people who bought / hyped Palword just did so to shit on Pokémon.
They didn't even play the game, just memes from twitter and yell :"Pokémon is gonna die!"
I bought it because it was cheap as frick and I love open world survival crafting games. I also bought Enshrouded a week later, which was 100x better than Palworld.
I remember coming home and straight away buying "The Repairing Mantis" after reading a review of it. It was so disgusted and fascinated by it, not sure I even finished it.
And for those in your picture, those are multiplayer games and I tend to get exhausted playing with others.
Wait, when was Valheim a FOTM game?
I bought it like two years ago or whatever it was released and it was very good. Haven't played it since, because me and my friends burned out on it after 800ish hours.
They haven't released anything worth of another run as far as I know, though.
>They haven't released anything worth of another run as far as I know, though.
did you play through the mistlands? i think they're even close to finishing the second new biome too.
i fell for battlebit but fortunately I refunded it the moment the "please let us record all microphone inputs" EULA came up on the screen
no regrets bc all 5 of my frens that bought it stopped playing it after less than 2 weeks
Back in the day a game came out, you played it, enjoyed it, and played other games. You'd come back to certain games, sure. But you didn't just constantly play the game daily for years and years. No game has ever been like that. We played Crash Bandicoot for a little bit and then played Super Smash bros for a little bit then Halo for a little bit then God of War for a little bit, so on and so on. Substitute for whatever your games of choice were. None of those were flavors of the month, that's just how time works.
I really don't understand this obsession with the term FOTM. Literally what fricking game ISN'T a FOTM? Does this mentality stem from people who solely games like LoL or CSGO and think they need to pick one single game to dedicate their entire lives to?
third worlders cannot handle the fact that people have money and want to play different games instead of wasting their lives away memorizing moronic game mechanics that make no logical sense and are just pure inconvenience
any live service or early access game can absolutely be called a FOTM
i agree with you about the idiotic sentiment that you have to "main" something tho, been seeing that shit all over Ganker the last few years and it's fricking moronic
never played fall guys or amongus but you're brain damaged if you think valheim or even palworld were zoomer games. valheim was 100% a boomer game and pokegays are all 30+ year old boomers who grew up with the series through the 90s.
>What FOTM games have you been tricked into buying?
NONE, not a single one because I am not a moron.
I have probably not played any of the shilled FOTM games either.
>unemployed impoverished
I am a NEET but not too much of a poorgay, I just dont fall for shill marketing and only play vidya that looks as if it has good gameplay.
As far as I remember from PUBG onwards there has been some sort of shitty indie shill campaign every other season for some trashy game that has mediocre to shit gameplay and I dont buy into that shit.
transience and entropy are not the same thing, but if you ever truly wanted permanence you would not have picked up video games as a hobby in the first place.

this is the peak of vidya discourse now >[insert steam player chart for a 30 hour single player game here], WHAT WENT WRONG??????
it's worse than that
it's subhumans who are too stupid to ever get good at games and spend thousands of hours playing a a nearly 20 year old game doing the same shit over and over again with no change
valve should kill tf2 if they had any passion for their fans
it would have stuck around if they hadn't taken like 2 months to do the first major update
the format of a non shooter BR is something that should just werk but they really blew it
i know, I played it off and on until a few months ago
I really REALLY hate the implementation of SBMM that Epic forced on them. I know sbmm is a brainlet thing to whine about but it absolutely makes that game objectively worse
The morons that spam this shit weren’t stupid enough to buy it, they’re just being obnoxious as frick and thought being an annoying homosexual was the epitome of trolling
Lethal Company.
Got very bored of it rather quickly: very repetitive where if you play a few rounds, you've seen all the game has to offer, and weird "smudgy" visuals are hard to look at. I don't mind the low poly, but I hate the filter or shader or whatever the frick that is making it look like someone rubbed vaseline all over my screen. I also have a bad sense of direction so often times I'd just get lost, then get frustrated, and throw myself at the nearest monster or in the nearest pit to get it over with.
I'm not mad that others enjoy it, just mad that I don't.
On the other hand, I thought palworld was just gonna be a dumb meme I'd giggle at for a few hours then forget about, but I was glued to it for a solid hundred or so hours. Surprisingly good in spite of being shameless slop. All the things about it tell me I shouldn't like it...but I do. It's a weird game.
this and that one homosexual scp game where everyone tries to be funny as extremely as possible to the point they are extremely not funny and just pure annoying
not to mention the moderators in that game are complete homosexuals who will ban you globally from using the comms if you merely exist and don't fricking suck their dick
Fall guys just paved the way for among us to become popular
Among us is still incredibly culturally relevant
No one played valheim even on release
Palworld is going to be king until gamefreak puts out a comparable open world game (hint: they won't)
>What FOTM games have you been tricked into buying?
None. I buy games knowing they're FOTM and enjoy the new, fun experience with friends and strangers.
FOTM being bad is a lie sold to you by shills for GAAS games, nothing more.
>normie friends actually set dates to play valheim >it's really fun and I go full autist mode building a perfect hub base >literally the session I logged in to finish it everyone stopped playing >never even beat the swamp biome >haven't touched it for years
>I must defend my FOTM purchases!
How fricking embarrassing. It's okay to admit you jumped on the bandwagon, bought shillworld or whatever and played it for a couple hours, uninstalled and never touched it because you are low IQ and easily persuaded to buy anything as long as it's popular. Nothing wrong with that.
>whats wrong with fall guys?
...what's right with it? it's the kind of game that could be played by slime mold. nothing of consequence happens in it and it contains no meaningful human expression.
oh you are absolutely wrong it contains extraordinarily chinese expression in the form of fricking cheat engine and a desire to look good in front of strangers before dying in a spontaneous combustion accident
>contains no meaningful human expression.
you sound like those feminist and cuck homosexuals with their 4-hour long essays and "gamers are dead" articles that were all over the place in the 2010s. go frick yourself
let me put it this way - in Call of Duty, you're at least pretending to kill people, which is fun. in Fall Guys, there's not even a layer of pretend. You just control a fat non-person who either falls in a hole or they don't. Genuinely, what's the appeal?
>A year ago = August 4, 2020 >A couple of months ago =June 15, 2018 >a month ago = Feb 1, 2021 >Now = a month ago
KEK Zoomers so mindbroken by GaaS they can't even tell time anymore, much less grasp the concept of finishing a game and moving on.
Renting a game from 3 days only from Blockbuster would've MINDBROKEN them, well, even more than they already are.
You get at least $1/hr of enjoyment out of any of those FotM titles, not the worst money you can spend even if they ended up being flash-in-the-pan memes.
>DRG
ROCK AND STONE! Game was okay, but the content drip feed was too slow and I lost interest. I look back at the game now and it still is thin on content, which bugs the hell out of me. >Valheim
Bought this super cheap way after release. I love the overall look of the game, but the game needs a shitload of polish and balancing. Hand-to-hand being in the game but worthless made me mad enough to quit and wait to see if they'll do something about it.
I was also annoyed by the game randomly locking the pickaxe behind the first boss, it never made any sense to me that you need a special antler to be able to make your first pickaxe. >Palworld
It's literally the only game I play right now. Pathfinding is still complete ass, I stick to simpler bases to avoid triggering any glitches, and I'm tweaking the difficulty settings to mitigate any balance/glitch issues, but the game's legitimately one of my favorite crafting-survival-whatever games. I really fricking hope the game doesn't pull a Craftopia and get dropped after a little while, I like this game too much.
More melee weapons WHEN??? Fist weapons pls.
To clarify, I haven't had a lot of free time to play games the last couple months, so it's only like 30 hours so far, but I'm actually kinda glad for that since bugfixes have been coming out in the meantime. >Gunfire Reborn
Played it a ton for a while, it was a lot of fun, I need to replay it again at some point soon, but I'm too busy playing Palworld. Bought the DLC characters too. >NeosVR/Resonite
VRC clones are cool and all, but unless VRC collapses overnight or the VR market 100x thanks to a Quest competitor, they're going to be empty forever.
Hell, NeosVR shitting itself and getting replaced by Resonite only to have 300 players (99% in private furry ERP servers) is just sad, but NeosVR only had like 1k players so it's not like a real VRC competitor died.
Resonite's cool for allowing you to literally drag-and-drop a model in, though.
>noooo you have to get locked in to my live service game and play it like it's a second job >you can't just play a game until you're done with it and move on to the next game >think of the shareholders!

Damn, for a second I thought I posted on reddit.
Upvoted.
Why can't people just let other people have fun?
I bet he likes Trump too.
OP is a /misc/gay that hates fun and thinks people should stop playing games and seethe all the time like them. Surprising revelation!
>OP is a /misc/gay
And that's a GOOD thing!
You can have your "fun". And others can call you a moronic subhuman. Freedom goes both ways you know.
indeed, you are free to be a seething incel while everyone else has fun with their friends.
Good or bad it's my taste
Impression managementcels frick off
Yes people on Ganker have fun with games. Go have a nice day. You don't belong here, you belong in a cemetery.

None as I'm not a e-celeb obsessed zoomer.
Nier Automata
Dragon's Dogma
Only Palworld and I liked it, looking forward to the updates.
I bought Aliens: Colonial marines as a child and it turned me off preordering forever.

I still like Fall Guys but my homies and me got bored of it because they never fricking rotated the maps and the new maps were just boring as shit

I'll never forgive them for removing the chaos engine.
Atleast list more than 4 games you useless homosexual
elden ring was shit. too easy, no direction, bland bland bland
Valheim should really be lethal company
I wish listed Palworld forever ago and bought it before I knew it was blowing up.
no one gave a shit about among us til the coof.
I've been cruelly tricked into enjoying Palworld for 75 hours and I will never forgive or forget
Valheim, we refunded it after 1:55, it was just another openworldsurvivalcraft, billions of them.
>we
Yes, me and my bros. What's the point playing it solo?
You're either moronic for not looking up what genre it was before buying it, or you're extremely moronic for knowing what genre it was and buying it anyway knowing you wouldn't like it.
Nah, I like the genre, it has some good games like Forest, Grounded, Subnautica. Valheim was just boring shit overhyped by streamers.
Reminder that Ganker held regular amogus lobbies until a year after the game's big breakout
Lethal Company
if you don't still indulge in amog memes then you have no soul. It appeals to something basic (in people that have souls).
I remember coming home and straight away buying "The Repairing Mantis" after reading a review of it. It was so disgusted and fascinated by it, not sure I even finished it.
And for those in your picture, those are multiplayer games and I tend to get exhausted playing with others.
>those are multiplayer games
valheim would have been great fun if I had bros to play with, but alas, I put 270 hours into it solo.
fall guys was really fun until fricking Epic ruined it

well I must admit the success of those games amongst the young and mentally disabled is fact
also fact: those non-games are boring soulless slop!
You say this after years spinoffs, merch and non-stop updates. 'Free thinker', you lost the game and then some. YLLTYST
Minecraft has sold more copies than any other game btw

It's really really hard to go back to valheim after all the QOL things they did in palworld.
they're not similar enough games to compare.
most of modern Ganker are brown third world poorgays who cope with sour grapes like "it's fotm so it's bad and i didn't want to play it anyway"
>buy game

>move on to play something else
Why does this make Ganker seethe so hard?
a desire for permanence against entropy
same as it ever was
transience and entropy are not the same thing, but if you ever truly wanted permanence you would not have picked up video games as a hobby in the first place.

DRG isn't fotm it's just has a very dedicated small playerbase like l4d2
I've never been tricked, I got more than my money's worth out of Valheim and and am now doing the same with Palworld

I played all of those for over 100 hours each and the most expensive was $30. I denounce the talmud.
it's embarrassing, but I played The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom for about 20 hours
i didnt buy it though
whats wrong with fall guys? ive always loved 3d platformers and this one's half decent if you stay off too many community levels
>whats wrong with fall guys?
...what's right with it? it's the kind of game that could be played by slime mold. nothing of consequence happens in it and it contains no meaningful human expression.
oh you are absolutely wrong it contains extraordinarily chinese expression in the form of fricking cheat engine and a desire to look good in front of strangers before dying in a spontaneous combustion accident
>contains no meaningful human expression.
you sound like those feminist and cuck homosexuals with their 4-hour long essays and "gamers are dead" articles that were all over the place in the 2010s. go frick yourself
let me put it this way - in Call of Duty, you're at least pretending to kill people, which is fun. in Fall Guys, there's not even a layer of pretend. You just control a fat non-person who either falls in a hole or they don't. Genuinely, what's the appeal?
Gotta add lethal company to this image because it was the biggest flash in the pan there ever was
Cult of the Lamb. I wanted to get in on a trend while it was fresh for once and got it. Game was mediocre, and the devs are fricking cringe
None
Sorry you didn't have friends to play any of those good games with.
I still play fall guys sometimes and don't regret it. It's just fun.
>WHY AREN'T YOU TALKING ABOUT GAMES THAT CAME OUT 20 YEARS AGO?!
>A year ago = August 4, 2020
>A couple of months ago =June 15, 2018
>a month ago = Feb 1, 2021
>Now = a month ago
KEK Zoomers so mindbroken by GaaS they can't even tell time anymore, much less grasp the concept of finishing a game and moving on.
Renting a game from 3 days only from Blockbuster would've MINDBROKEN them, well, even more than they already are.
You Black folk tricked me into thinking Nioh was good
vampire survivors
Warno is a 10/10 early access
None, I'm not stupid. You forgot Genshin Impact, btw.
>FOTM games
Five nights at freddys
I'm 35 years old and i look like this
the only one i actually played in there is palworld
When you have a job you can afford to spend $20 on a vidya game you'll only put 12 hours into.
Overwatch back in 2016
I don't engage in FotM unless friends buy the game for me
>getting so filtered by Factorio you cope by making an mspaint comic about it and hope nobody calls you out
You get at least $1/hr of enjoyment out of any of those FotM titles, not the worst money you can spend even if they ended up being flash-in-the-pan memes.
None of those.
>implying Palworld is a Pokemon killer
>noooo you have to get locked in to my live service game and play it like it's a second job
>you can't just play a game until you're done with it and move on to the next game
>think of the shareholders!
