Peak irony considering the fact that tipping as a concept was born because greedy american bar/restaurant owners couldn't be decent human beings and pay a fair wage.

Imagine an employee of an establishment giving you the stinky eye because you refused to pay his salary on top of the food you just ate. Complete madness, specially when you have to save money in case you get hospitalized and don't want to die on the hospital bed because you got charged your house and car for the removal of a tumor in your ballsack.

Games have skins and purchasable soundtracks already. Buying the game itself is considered a tip. This is one corpo bigwig signaling to other paypigs and bigwigs "hmm, what if tipping as a game mechanic? you know, to show appreciation". and the paypigs wiggle and squeal in unison at the idea that normal people will call them moronic for suggesting it.

I don't even buy steam games from steam if an official keyseller has them. sales tax on digital goods is fricking theft, private corporations control the utility and communication backbone so why should the state government get a cut of something that doesn't use their services?

  20. 2 weeks ago
    Anonymous

That’s silly, but on the other hand, I would give $20 directly to the devs of some of my favorite games of all time.

  21. 2 weeks ago
    Anonymous

I think indie games should have two prices

-$20 for the FULL GAME, ALL OF THE GAME'S CONTENT NOW AND INTO THE FUTURE, NO NONSENSE!
    And then below that:
-$100 for the HARDCORE FAN EDITION ($80 Upgrade to hardcore fan edition available, if you decide later on). Same game and everything, you're just expressing how much you appreciate the developer and want to pay them for making a game you really enjoy. Maybe the player gets a golden crown to put on their character, no stats or advantages whatsoever. Just a way to signify in-game that you paid $100.

Isn't that what soundtracks, digital artbooks and whatever rubbish extras they put on the storepage are for?

People make money by incentivizing everyone to pay them.

It’s all a form of simping that is more out of hand than these onlyfriends addicts who whale loads of money for a chance to talk to some random prostitute.
This is shut up and take my money to the next level.

  57. 2 weeks ago

    >$70
Uhh no. AAA games are $60. Period. $70 is $10 too much. Normalizing the extra $10 has been and always will be scumbag bigwigs trying to cash in on inflation.

Second, you need to EARN a tip. You aren't entitled to an extra however many dollars just because someone bought your game. If you seriously want people to give you a tip, the game better be fun as hell, bug-free, and addicting ON RELEASE. If you can't guarantee those things, go frick yourself.

And third, if i ever do end up "tippping" a game, I need some confirmation on exactly where that extra $10 is going. I would rather tip the game testers or coders for THEIR hard work, not the hard work of the dipshit higher-ups. You make MORE than enough pocketing my $60 and using it towards your yachts. That $10 goes to the low-end workers who actually PLAy the game and want to make it better. No ifs, ands, or buts. Unless you have some guarantee that money is going to them, the only tip you're getting is the tip of my wiener when you suck it.
