Dead company. Naughty Dog was once considered the peak of gaming development. Now it's just a woke shit show and worse than any other company I have ever seen.

It's insane how Naughty Dog games went from deep and artistic creativity to just boring soulless slop that feel like tech demos, because the writing makes no sense and feels like some woke phrases are put together randomly.

The moment I saw how the most loved character in tlou was just killed with a baseball bat in a situation he would have never been into in the first place, just showed that the writing is just shit. I wouldn't be surprised if the incompetent person in charge didn't even know the character and just wanted him dead.

But now we have Baldur's Gate 3 raping the AAA industry and I just love how Naughty Dog now looks like an incompetent small indi studio and Larian like a AAA ultra famous publisher, while in reality those roles are actually the exact opposite.

Shut the frick up moron, Naughty Dog was always shit and is the perfect example of AAA gaming - 3rd person walking game with QTEs and press X to do something cool.

I don’t understand why sony fans and normies like uncharted and tlou so much. Uncharted 1 is legitimately a bad game, bad combat, platforming is non existent, the game magnetically sticks you to the platform you’re jumping to, the worst melee combat ever conceived, no exaggeration on that, the worst final boss fight ever, basic puzzling and very cornily written. The series has very linear climbing sections, artificial gameplay, treasure collectibles that scatter throughout the game for no rhyme or reason and even that, they don’t offer anything much, there’s no additional gameplay element to finding collectibles, each game has no good boss fight, each game has bad final boss fights, which is different from just boss fights, filler gameplay sections, just all in all, they’re just overrated, all of them. But they act like the series is the pinnacle of gaming. The villains are also very one note, nothing special about them. And I’m not being a hater, this objective truth.

Jim Ryan was a fricking idiot. No, having your entire game portfolio for the next few years be live service (a genre that has an abysmal success rate) is not a good idea. No, having your studios who have been making single player games for over a decade suddenly make multiplayer service games is not a good idea. No, buying Bungie and then stretching them thin to change the diapers of the studios making the live service games is not a good idea. No, focusing on "blockbuster" games instead of making smaller budget and lower scope games is not a good idea. How was every idea this guy had so shit?

What's insane is that him being asked to step down probably isn't even primarily motivated by the horrible decisions made within Playstation under his watch, but just for the external Microsoft-ABK merger that he would've never had realistic way of throwing any wrenches into. granted, he seemed to only make it worse with his laughable arrogant counteroffer to Microsoft and letting Sony put forth juvenile arguments in court that bit them in the ass, but there was no way he was ever going to turn or even delay the tide.

The game was worked on for 5+ years and it had 100s of underpaid contractors. No way are they gonna work on a game like this ever again.

just a reminder sony has 10 GaaS in development and they will all flop besides bungies marathon

Don't forget they also want "bigger games!!" when modern video games, post generation 6 video game consoles, have been dwindling in content, replayability, and quality in exchange for asinine cinematic graphics. On top of them also turning them into GaaS, youre right on the money. They are absolutely fricking insane. The absurdity is reaching peak levels.

Their games have became little more than a vanity project for Sony and Neil Druckmann to be handed 6-7 awards from a single show, while the games Naughty Dog "beats" for GOTY (GTA5, Animal Crossing) see longer popularity and don't need to be bundled to sell.

I miss when Naughty Dog was legitimately competing to make the best game. Not just paying until people say that they are.

  33. 8 months ago

ND firing a ton of people and telling them not to talk about it is going to be swept under the rug because they're ultimately a first party media darling for some reason, all the shithead journos taking them to task now will be the first to praise their next mediocre covershooter with more cutscenes than gameplay, just like they did when TLOU2's development became abusive to the people working on it that aren't Neil.

what the frick is an extraction shooter

            Anonymous

imagine a wide open map, you load into a soawn point, map is filled with lootabables, AI enemies and player enemies
on death you drop everything you had on you, also the gear you entered with.
Goal is getting as much loot as possible and then extract out of the map.
You sell the loot for better gear and repeat

              Anonymous

You get some shit from a warzone and then...you go to the extraction point and hold your ground until some airborne asset pick you up.

sounds like fricking shit, how do people like this trash?

                Anonymous

because its a massive dopamine hit when you find the equivelent of treasure and have to shoot your way out of a warzone to extract with it

                Anonymous

The same way people like roguelikes, though I'd argue extraction shooters are better optimized for skill as opposed to RNG - usually, sometimes, that is.
