Philips: An electronics company led by Frits Philips partnered with the Belgian exiles trying to turn the nation into a leading bastion of technological development while trying to dominate the South American electronics markets by dueling both Guangdong, Siemens, and Motorola.
The Navy: Commandant der Strijdkrachten Piet de Jong seeks to rebuild the economy around the concept of a nation-wide millitary industrial complex, focussing on exports of weaponry and expanding the armed forces without too heavily burdening the economy. But the different sides of his cabinet continue to clash as he has to figure out the best path forward.
Shell: Baron John Hugo Loudon seeks to consolidate political power behind him, pursuing whatever is needed to keep the dirty engine running no matter the costs...or suffering of his foreign employees.
Nederlandse Handelsmaatschappij (NHM): Queen Juliana and her loyal banker Jelle Zijlstra cooperate to balance all the different interests of the nation. There's more to it, but i'm keeping that a secret till the first playable version.

That sounds cool, also because it gives the Dutch exciles perhaps the option to focus more on Indonesia compared to the Netherlands. We've done relatively accurate demographics on the state of things in 1962. I can give you the autism numbers if you want, but keep in mind that this new (fierce) Dutch nationalism is an artificial one where everyone is equally dutch as long as they speak it in a clear accent and act patriotically. This was because any race based government just would have collapsed in infighting, thus Wilhelmina chose stability over instituting Dutch apartheid. Van Mook portrait was made way back, but he ultimately does not play a role any more, nor does Stakenburgh. Perhaps a cameo at best. Since Indonesia is in Japanese hands, the Stuwgroep has no meaning and no longer exists. Simon Spoor is still an available General though, and Conrad Helfrich used to lead the navy untill 1957.
And Raymond Westerling? Oh, he'll definitely show up, and still has a role to play.

Honestly, people overblow the praise around it, a war campaign can be good (Like Heydrich path, with a end game condition tied to one of it's wars). But TNO minigames aren't that hard or complex at all, most of the time, just resource sinks.
However, I do have to agree that the GDP shtick is quite nice, but Iron Curtain seems to be slowly mogging TNO in that department, only time will tell

There is literally no point to TNO being a HOI4 mod.
There is no micromanagement or tactical aspect.
A stand-alone RPG style approach like Suzerain would suit the style and story much better and not be this much of a pain in the ass to develop.

The only GUI you really needed was old american SAW mechanic, you increased discontent and it gave radicals more power which was crucial for some paths.
Every GUI should be integrated into greater narrative instead of just being there and doing nothing. Mechanics should determine events, country paths, peace outcome, etc. Right now there is no reason in engaging with 90% of the mechanics, I don't care if I have 10% division defence or 5%, i'm going to win either way.

Played Brazil successful Lott - Quadros win 1966 and I really like it. Lott - Quadros bromance is top tier narrative story kinda similar to Morita and Li but actually more interesting than them being buddy to buddy day one.
Decisions are nice too, You got to keep your relations between the two of them up or else get coup by the military, speaking of the military there’s 3 factions wrying for power and you have to keep their loyalty high and nepotism low in order to not get coup (again). I also like how there’s GUI for developing Brazil and Trans-Amazon high way / Senator - Elections which doesn’t require Political Power to use at all!! Overall much better than Guangdong where you are constantly out of PP while trying to survive the fricking shits they keep throwing at you back. Events are also nice too doesn’t go overtly leeee nazeee ebil!!! Like libtards from TNOhomosexual devs and just keep it minimal. My only problem is that the while GUI and Decisions feel kinda pointless how short Lott’s presidency is. Like sure it’s easy to managed but why I should care about which military factions gain power when I can always keep their loyalty high enough? Improving relations between P and VP are piss easy to do you just need to give to use 30 pp and boom you you are done! Building Trans-Amazonia Highway just doesn’t feel significant enough like why I should build it for gameplay reason? It's really simple, just create a rule that existing content can only be replaced by something finished. No matter how bad whatever currently exists is. If you want to rework all of Russia, actually rework all of Russia, on a separate dev branch, playtest it, iterate on it, then integrate it when it's done. Oh, too much work? Then don't fricking rework Russia. if you want to rework Burgundy and America and Germany and every other country, actually make it and play it and have people playtest it and make sure it's fun and actually functions, then implement it when it's complete.
and guess what, if nobody has the motivation to work on other countries instead of just being a REWOOOOORKer forever, then the current decade is complete. Move on to the next one. "revisionists" literally just got bored playing the same mod for 3+ years, then as they rehash the same countries over and over they get even more bored. Devs leave and new ones replace them, each with their own unique and brave personal vision for the mod that everyone totally carse about, they get bored too, and development grinds to a crawl. what a surprise. Same story as Kaiserreich, some parts of Anbennar, etc. The only way you avoid it is not letting bored morons frick around with the good stuff that drew them in in the first place.

You will either hate it or love it. The mod is very polarizing. I recommend any Russian state, the USA or Germany, any country on the country select screen is playable and has content, none of the countries outside of that are playable, so you can't pick Tatarstan and bring a new Tatar yoke or something. Countries that I and others do not recommend are, Italy and Japan, both are buggy, unfinished, and don't have nearly enough content. If you are overwhelmed by the ui or the mechanics reroll as China or Ireland until you get the feel of things.

As much as I like how good the Asian team are, and don't get me wrong, I love what they've done to a country like Guangdong and hope they'll do the same with Manchuria, but god I can never forgive Japan. As nice as it is in turning a hellhole into a livable workplace (Guangdong's most wholesome path) and giving a puppet it's identity with improved living conditions (Manchuria's left wing corporatism leader), I just can't see the nice side of them considering that the one who's letting all this happen is Japan. The content is probably great, even the narratives the developers give to these places, but god it feels wrong, I'd rather go Yunnan and just see China go it's own way rather than have these pieces doing things with Japan giving them a yes and a no to what they do.

Atlantropa wasn’t just a big part of the mod. For a while, it WAS the mod. The story it told was - and I know I’m getting clowned for saying this but whatever - profoud.
Before you even saw its borders, one look at Nazi-dominated Europe was enough to instantly tell you that something went catastrophically, horribly wrong with this world. Italy and the Aegean sea transformed into a hideous shade of their former selves. Ancient cities like Rome and Barcelona lost their coastline, and their whole identity with it. A permanent scar on the world, the everlasting legacy of the darkest chapter in human history. It gives instant context to why Italy, once Germany’s ally in WW2, came to despise their Northern neighbor so much they considered dismissing fascism altogether.
Atlantropa was iconic. It was the ultimate symbol of TNO: a world where evil triumphed and people suffered greatly for it, but nonetheless, found ways to keep going.
Alas, it’s gone. All for the sake of realism? Come on, guys. The whole premise of the mod is complete fiction. Don’t pretend the Germans could ever get the atom bomb before the US, or the Japanese navy could just somehow miraculously win because they were just really brave.
There are enough mods in HOI4 that try too hard to make the impossible seem realistic. I wish TNO went back to its roots and let itself do what it has always done best: tell a story. Not because it’s feasible. But because it’s interesting…and it truly has something to say.

Desperation for new content does a good job at keeping interest high and downloads coming. The oil crisis otl lasted until the late 70s (and was followed by a second one in 1979, the same or worse could happen in tno2). Even if Germany isn't at it's absolute weakest, it will still be suffering the aftershocks of it.

It's just me or have they removed the warlords fluff events? Was doing a Buritya run and besides sending Mikhail home, none of the annexed warlords showed any kind of post war interaction. Wasn't there a lot of fluff regarding those? Specially at province stage?
Gutting the Warlords would be slapping the whole community, that was the atractive point of the mod when it released and still is, cause it merges some tno mechanics with the usual warfaring of base HOI4. Remove that, and you have a mod with barely nothing going on. Brasil and Guandong was quite noice, but it can be kinda a slog in comparison to the comfy nation rebuilding that is the warlord scenario (Which honestly needs less railroading,)
I haven't played the mod in about a year at this point, and it's sad to see such a cool concept go to shit because the devs keep sniffing their own farts. I love the mod's dystopian 1984-esque atmosphere, but at this point I'm never going to play it again because there's so much bloat and filler devoted to shit that's not interesting because the devs treat their HOI4 autism mod like it's the most important thing in the world.
For example, that whole Jamaica/Carribean independence subplot for USA: why the frick do I care if they're independent or not? How is this going to tip the balance of the cold war besides me losing some arbitrary victory points? What narrative purpose does it serve? And no, your filler events aren't interesting just because they feature Bob Marley.
I also don't like how there's now just a continuous series of proxy wars going on at all times. South Africa and Indonesia have good buildups and are fleshed out enough for me to get invested in them, but Malaya and Madagascar and all that shit are so barebones that I just don't care. Since Indonesia is in Japanese hands, the Stuwgroep has no meaning and no longer exists. Simon Spoor is still an available General though, and Conrad Helfrich used to lead the navy untill 1957.

Every GUI should be integrated into greater narrative instead of just being there and doing nothing. Mechanics should determine events, country paths, peace outcome, etc. Right now there is no reason in engaging with 90% of the mechanics, I don't care if I have 10% division defence or 5%, i'm going to win either way.

Played Brazil successful Lott - Quadros win 1966 and I really like it. Lott - Quadros bromance is top tier narrative story kinda similar to Morita and Li but actually more interesting than them being buddy to buddy day one.
Decisions are nice too, You got to keep your relations between the two of them up or else get coup by the military, speaking of the military there’s 3 factions wrying for power and you have to keep their loyalty high and nepotism low in order to not get coup (again). I also like how there’s GUI for developing Brazil and Trans-Amazon high way / Senator - Elections which doesn’t require Political Power to use at all!! Overall much better than Guangdong where you are constantly out of PP while trying to survive the fricking shits they keep throwing at you back. Events are also nice too doesn’t go overtly leeee nazeee ebil!!! Like libtards from TNOhomosexual devs and just keep it minimal. My only problem is that the while GUI and Decisions feel kinda pointless how short Lott’s presidency is. Like sure it’s easy to managed but why I should care about which military factions gain power when I can always keep their loyalty high enough? Improving relations between P and VP are piss easy to do you just need to give to use 30 pp and boom you you are done! Building Trans-Amazonia Highway just doesn’t feel significant enough like why I should build it for gameplay reason? Idk I feel like it doesn’t do anything and just kinda there for Narrative segments. Then don't fricking rework Russia. if you want to rework Burgundy and America and Germany and every other country, actually make it and play it and have people playtest it and make sure it's fun and actually functions, then implement it when it's complete.
and guess what, if nobody has the motivation to work on other countries instead of just being a REWOOOOORKer forever, then the current decade is complete. Move on to the next one. "revisionists" literally just got bored playing the same mod for 3+ years, then as they rehash the same countries over and over they get even more bored. You will either hate it or love it. The mod is very polarizing. I recommend any Russian state, the USA or Germany, any country on the country select screen is playable and has content, none of the countries outside of that are playable, so you can't pick Tatarstan and bring a new Tatar yoke or something. Countries that I and others do not recommend are, Italy and Japan, both are buggy, unfinished, and don't have nearly enough content. If you are overwhelmed by the ui or the mechanics reroll as China or Ireland until you get the feel of things.

This is true, I remember asking what expansion options Japan should have if you play them perfectly and people started actually seething at me.
It's painfully obvious some of the fans of this mod are overinvested in current events and can't seperate TNO Asia from their own neo-yellow peril anexities provoked by fears of IRL China.
As much as I like how good the Asian team are, and don't get me wrong, I love what they've done to a country like Guangdong and hope they'll do the same with Manchuria, but god I can never forgive Japan. As nice as it is in turning a hellhole into a livable workplace (Guangdong's most wholesome path) and giving a puppet it's identity with improved living conditions (Manchuria's left wing corporatism leader), I just can't see the nice side of them considering that the one who's letting all this happen is Japan. The content is probably great, even the narratives the developers give to these places, but god it feels wrong, I'd rather go Yunnan and just see China go it's own way rather than have these pieces doing things with Japan giving them a yes and a no to what they do.

Italy and the Aegean sea transformed into a hideous shade of their former selves. Ancient cities like Rome and Barcelona lost their coastline, and their whole identity with it. A permanent scar on the world, the everlasting legacy of the darkest chapter in human history. It gives instant context to why Italy, once Germany’s ally in WW2, came to despise their Northern neighbor so much they considered dismissing fascism altogether.

Also Russia needs time to prepare. Whoever the unifier is, they fought and conquered another stablished state (not a warlord) that has been running for roughly 5 years. Bureaucracy needs to be replaced, previous policies reversed, the population calmed or subdued, etc. The army also needs to be modernized with a large mechanized land force, state of the art jets and a functioning navy to have a fighting chance against Germany. They also need to build enough nukes to deter Germany into starting a nuclear war. These things take time and can't be done in just a year like you're suggesting.
There's also proof of the war happening late inside the Go4 TNO2 doc. It says the 2WRW happens 2 years after the 1978 elections, so 1980. This should be proof enough I think.

Gutting the Warlords would be slapping the whole community, that was the atractive point of the mod when it released and still is, cause it merges some tno mechanics with the usual warfaring of base HOI4. Remove that, and you have a mod with barely nothing going on. I haven't played the mod in about a year at this point, and it's sad to see such a cool concept go to shit because the devs keep sniffing their own farts. I love the mod's dystopian 1984-esque atmosphere, but at this point I'm never going to play it again because there's so much bloat and filler devoted to shit that's not interesting because the devs treat their HOI4 autism mod like it's the most important thing in the world.
For example, that whole Jamaica/Carribean independence subplot for USA: why the frick do I care if they're independent or not? How is this going to tip the balance of the cold war besides me losing some arbitrary victory points? What narrative purpose does it serve? And no, your filler events aren't interesting just because they feature Bob Marley.
I also don't like how there's now just a continuous series of proxy wars going on at all times. South Africa and Indonesia have good buildups and are fleshed out enough for me to get invested in them, but Malaya and Madagascar and all that shit are so barebones that I just don't care. Oh no, we lost Madagascar to the Nazis! I guess we'll just have to wait fifteen minutes for the next proxy war!
The worst part is that the mod still has potential. I want to see what's going to happen during the 1970's oil crisis, but the devs are busy working on literally-who country #25.

isn't this a community made project? shouldn't you want people to see what's going on? Like with Anbennar for instance anyone can just join the discord and see every conversation, all the assets, stuff that gets thrown out there then scrapped etc.
Is it some kind of elitism, or is the hoi4 community just that much worse than the other games that you want to associate with them as little as possible?
