I feel like undertale feels more pure, it had a tiny pacing issue in the second half but felt super focused on one thing (kill/spare).
Deltarune to me feels like its trying to shove all these wacky quotable characters into your face and pander to the existing fanbase as hard as it can, and its not as focused or cohesive as undertale was in both story or gameplay (its still enjoyable though).
>tiny pacing issue
Is that a joke? The whole game is a pacing issue. The enemies are too spread apart and lazily enough, the town doesn't even have npcs to interact with. Then for no reason at all the boss at the waterfall has a huge difficulty spike.
>enemies spread apart
I feel like I would say this is a valid criticism if this were a traditional RPG with stats that you need to level up but its not. (imo) Enemies in undertale serve a dual purpose as NPCs with unique dialogue and interactions, so to me it makes sense that the random encounters aren't frequent or extremely varied.
Also I think this works in the genocide run's favor to make it more inconvenient for you to kill everything and drives the point of the game home
>Deltarune to me feels like its trying to shove all these wacky quotable characters into your face and pander to the existing fanbase as hard as it can
I feel like this could be a growing problem with the game as more chapters are released and we keep getting new dark worlds with their own cast of wacky characters, by the time we reach chapter 7-10 we'll have a billion characters in the hub which feels very bloated, this also means that a lot of characters won't get the proper focus they'd deserve to really breathe and stand out
Undertale was way more concise and focused (better avg music quality too), Deltarune I think already has much better raw gameplay (not that's really too impressive), the triggers for game events are also handled better, berdly losing his arm, weird route, even ch1's ending have specific triggers that feel better vs the a all or nothing system UT had with its specialty routes (killed a Frogit? Suddenly you can't get the pacifist route going). Superbosses being there for all playstyles are also a massive improvement. Its gonna mainly depend on if the stuff that's being built up for is worth it or not, because there's clearly going to be a more involved story based on what we have right now
Undertale had a army of memedogs, a Ren and Stimpy style clerk, inoffensively dogmatic valley girls, a family of Rocks, and Femboy Skeletor and Bro Bones.
You were just more immersed the first time.
Is he still REEEing over not being in Deltarune, and calling Toby a fascist or whatever? Also semi-related but I really hope we get an Undyne-Blooky buddy cop arc in Chapter 3
He tricked Toby into putting fetish b8 into his game and then when Toby offered him a full refund he refused. Toby had every right to do what he did. If you where making a game and put some fan made characters into your game how would you feel if you found out one of them was a disgusting fetish related character? Not only that but you *have* to put them in and the guy who put you up to it won't even accept his money back? I would do the same thing but maybe harsher. The guy even said he was fine with the way Toby did it at release, he only changed his mind way later.
If I remember right, the spider zone used to be an entire area devoted to this man's fricking butter dragon OC. He was a mandatory encounter. Then Toby found out the character was literally this guy's fetish fursona at some point, and Muffet came into the picture- this time as a character MADE FOR THE GAME. Whether you see her as fetishy or not it's undeniable that she fits better within Undertale. So So Sorry was shoved into an obscure corner of the game, and Muffet was given the spotlight.
I mean, Muffet is also a fetish as you say, but it's some based gentleman that had the luck of being attracted to monster girls, which works wonderfully in Undertale
the other guy is some disgusting fat design with a moronic character
No after the game released he said he was fine with how his character was portrayed and with how accessible it was. He didn't change his mind until way after like I said
He added bonus content to each of the console versions of undertale.
That's the Nintendo Switch DLC.
The XBOX version has like a casino or something I don't remmeber lol.
> character is exactly what the creator requested: a stupidly obscure encounter in a pointless area > wonky design doesn't matter because it's so obscure
Oh god I forgot about that homosexual
Is he coping better now? I worry for him.
He died from butter overdose.
Undertale is significantly better than deltarune.
As an unfinished product, the fact that they are even comparable shows how far superior Deltarune is.
Not exactly a controversial opinion when Deltarune isn't complete yet
A fully released game is much better than a glorified demo?
Geez, who would have guessed?
>A full game is better than a demo
wow...
Deltarune chapter 1 and 2 are already better than undertale though.

infinite possibilities

Deltarune is AU fan game tier and exists only to pander to the worst of undertale's audience, so that's not surprising.
how does deltarune pander to the 9 year olds watching game theory videos
The fact that you even think to bring up the phrase AU tells me you're an insufferable homosexual

you can make anything sound like nothing if you reductively describe it like that
>I disagree so I'm only caring about reductive and absolute opinions now
alright

i need to see this
Why do people feel bad for him?
He tricked Toby into putting fetish b8 into his game and then when Toby offered him a full refund he refused. Toby had every right to do what he did. Didn't the guy expect his fursona to play a bigger role? What an asshat lol.

>So So Sorry was shoved into an obscure corner of the game, and Muffet was given the spotlight.
and rightly so
>there exists a timeline where that abomination was a main game miniboss and perfect spider wife doesn't exist
Maybe this one isn't so bad after all
I mean, Muffet is also a fetish as you say, but it's some based gentleman that had the luck of being attracted to monster girls, which works wonderfully in Undertale
the other guy is some disgusting fat design with a moronic character
good thing Toby is literally our guy
>some based gentleman
It was the guy who made ava's demon
I'm guessing the fetishes for So Sorry are scat and vore. Am I correct?
I think it's feeder, actually. Remember that he's a "butter dragon"
Well that'd explain the bake sale aspect, which didn't really make sense with Muffet
No after the game released he said he was fine with how his character was portrayed and with how accessible it was. He didn't change his mind until way after like I said
Just finished the game the other day and now I'm starting the Alphys stuff to get the true pacifist ending. This game's pretty nice.
What the frick is this
switch exclusive
Alphys's mew mew sex doll mini boss fight
He added bonus content to each of the console versions of undertale.
That's the Nintendo Switch DLC.
The XBOX version has like a casino or something I don't remmeber lol.
Jesus I completely forgot this encounter existed.
He put a fricking lesbian sex doll into the Switch version???
Based
I always thought this was related to So Sorry. Were both comissioned by the same guy?
The character got in the game the same way sosorry got into undertale, through kickstarter backer rewards. Different people, both furries
What went right with Glyde?
> character is exactly what the creator requested: a stupidly obscure encounter in a pointless area
> wonky design doesn't matter because it's so obscure
He fits in well enough with the other monster designs
