Anons like to seethe about the last one being "asset flip" of trails but i personally liked it way more than cold steel
Hopefully they will just improve on the existing gameplay instead of going for turn based slop
Never seen anyone say this ever. The one criticism has always been that it's a poor Persona ripoff so the question is what they'll be ripping off this time.
I hope the combat improve more, is not a Ys X rip of and improve their key system to be more symilar to Suikoden/FF7/Cross than Kiseki orbment.
Also thank god is probably don't going to be Tokyo
Falcom fans are weird. >Kiseki fanbase is mostly that weird RPG community that hates/don't play any modern turn based RPG while barely played RPG (FF, Chrono, xenogears) and got attracted by a franchise full of memberries believing they play the superior turn based RPG . A game that the story was contained in one game is hated >Many Cold steel fans are waifugays so not having all TX girls fall in love with the MC made them seethe. >Yschad just don't like the combat because is less deep (the reason many didn't like Party era Ys) and barely exploration >And there is also Xanadu Next fans , which they pretend to like the game because the character designs is less anime.
So that's why It was hated. >instead of going for turn based slop
Xanadu was never turn based tbh
It was hated because it has terrible stiff combat and the story and characters are the most generic anime shit ever. Ironic that you complain about Cold Steel fans just being mindless waifugays when the waifugays are the only ones that actually like this garbage game.
Nice. I hope the supernatural world actually has towns you can visit and npcs you can talk to. My biggest complaint with TX1 was that they hinted at this interesting supernatural world, but you only got to visit it in dungeons to beat up monsters.
Biggest worry though is that the soundtrack won't be as high quality as TX1, now that Unisuga is gone. Sonoda is still good but now Singa is doing just as much music. I don't think Singa is the worst thing ever like the discord and redditors make him out to be. He puts out good tracks, but it is undeniable that he isn't utilized well by Falcom's management.
No idea. He doesn't have anything new credited on VGMDB so either whatever he's been working on hasn't been released yet, or hasn't be recognized yet, or he has retired.
Singa mistakes "loud and obnoxious" for "exciting". Almost all battle themes of his are just headache-inducing. On the other hand, his electronic tracks such as
can be decent sometimes.
There is still a hope that Koguchi carries the OST in Unisuga's stead. I miss Unisuga bros...
i haven't played this, but i have looked at the store page once a year for a while. i played a bunch of the ys games, xanadu next, and part of trails in the sky (dropped it after about 20-30 hours). this always just looked like a poor man's persona with gimped arpg gameplay. persona is fricking gay. is there any reason to buy this?
regarding falcom sound team jdk, as long as the guys from demetori are still there, then there's some hope.
If high school shit, idol shit, and cliche stories of teenagers fighting otherworldly monsters in a modern Japanese town put you off, there's zero reason to ever pick up TX.
>is there any reason to buy this?
The usual reasons why you should be a Trails game. Pleasant characters. A sense of community when interacting with the townsfolk NPCs over 100 hours. Good aesthetics. A stellar soundtrack by Hayato Sonoda and Takahiro Unisuga. The action combat is okay. I don't like action combat but the other positives were so good that I endured it.

I actually like all that but TX was shit because of the cringe localization
We're not playing as Kou again are we? Guy's a fricking jobber holy shit. Everyone else in the party is stronger than him. Lloyd-tier. Why can't we keep getting chad MCs like Rean?
One reason I wanted a seuel was for Kou to gain a level in badass, now I am not that interested, specially now that the mc has katanas instead of a gouf's heatrod and fear he is going to be a gary stu.
nice I liked TX
it's funny how it feels like TX just came out, nothing has changed in the last decade. Meanwhile TX and Xanadu Next were worlds apart, same with classic xanadu
Falcom already has two Trails gachas, but Trails is an established franchise with two decades of characters and lore to draw upon. Tokyo Xanadu is just one game and scant lore. There are two factions namedropped but weren't explored at all.
>two >he doesn't know more like half a dozen they're all chink shovelware Also Falcom didn't make any of them, they just give out their rights like candy
Tokyo Xanadu is one of the most god awful games i've ever played I sincerely don't know how it even has fans unless it's just people who do not value gameplay in the slightest. I can't imagine being excited for a sequel. This also looks very generic.
Tokyo Xanadu is the worst game nu-Falcom's made. No one wants a sequel. In all likelihood it's another filler game while something better gets more time.
It will evolve from Cold Steel 1 and 2 field attacks as a combat system to Daybreak 1 and 2 "action" combat as a combat system. In short, it's gonna suck as much if not more than the first, which is an abomination whose one positive is giving Ys VIII more time to become a good game.
Why can't we get a Xanadu Next sequel instead? Falcom please.

It's hilarious how much of a deranged lunatic Next gay is. I hope TX becomes a major franchise.
Next is also garbage. The actual "deranged lunatic" is the guy who creates a boogeyman for himself to cope with the fact that people loathe Falcom's lowest effort pile of trash.
Why do you conflate people who hate particular games with people who hate the company's output in general? What a weird line of exaggerated shitposting.

TX was a game rushed out by they D-team to fill year release quotas and to train rookies. To which I think they did a decent good job. So hopefully the new one has a good bit more polish.
Well, most people played eX+, which has way more content and doesn't run like ass like the Vita original. The original version was a roughshod mess.

Yeah, it's pretty fun. Maybe wait for a sale but it's solid.

Depends. If you played and enjoyed the Vita original (for some godawful reason), then you'll probably like eX+ a lot more. It's got bonus dungeons, extra side content, somewhat refined mechanics, and much better framerate and performance.
If you've never played TX at ALL, then I'll put it this way: TX is one of the most creatively bankrupt and shamelessly derivative games I've ever played. However, if I try REALLY hard to be impartial and judge the game in a vacuum, then it's honestly a decent ARPG. Sure, there are some crappy dungeons and a few really poorly-designed bosses, but overall, far from the worst thing ever; well, eX+ is decent. The original Vita version is just bad.

have you actually played both or are you assuming the original sucks without knowing which stuff was added

I can't speak for the original. I HEARD it doesn't run super great but the EX version had a lot of editions that actually made things a bit more interesting and without getting to into spoilers I can easily see the game being a lot less endearing without them. Between chapters there's these EX chapters you can view (hence the name I guess) and they give the side cast more development and time to stand out rather than just being the MCs posse. Nice addition.

Over the original version? I don't know I've only played Ex+. The game itself is worth playing however
The Switch version is JP-only until June of this year. Falcom spent most of the 2010s being fairly PS-centric. The vast majority of their ports to other platforms are outsourced.
To be honest I enjoyed the first game more than any cold steel game..... I just found the pacing a relaxing slow burn and both series always had very meh combat to me nonetheless
Tokyo Xanadu is self-contained so you can just jump into that one. I haven't played the older Xanadu games.
Ex+ is the version you'll see around afaik, it's got everything available.

Well, CS is a pretty low bar of quality in some regards.
The game is pretty much just a poor man's ARPG Persona knockoff, though.

I know
But nobody stops them from making moronic decision and making this one turn based
cool

Will it be gacha or consumer(console/steam)?

I'd rather a sequel to Xanadu Next, or a rerelease of Revival Xanadu.
Tokyo Xanadu is the worst game nu-Falcom's made. No one wants a sequel. In all likelihood it's another filler game while something better gets more time.
Oh. Neat. I liked the first one. Be interesting to see how they evolve it considering it was made as a training team tool to fill a year.
It will evolve from Cold Steel 1 and 2 field attacks as a combat system to Daybreak 1 and 2 "action" combat as a combat system. In short, it's gonna suck as much if not more than the first, which is an abomination whose one positive is giving Ys VIII more time to become a good game.

Hey, I don't really have anything against TX, I just liked Next a lot and I'm a bit sad we never got anything else like it.
I remember the boring gothic hallways guy, but I don't know about any Nextgay.
Either way, TX sucks.
Why can't we get a Xanadu Next sequel instead? Falcom please.
Falcom-GODS keep winning, ironic weebs and westoids keep seething KEK

I'm looking forward to it myself, no idea why Falcom has such dedicated haters here. Envy that they actually make a lot of games for their fans?

I like Nayuta a lot, I enjoy the hopping and the stabbing.
Action RPG doesn't let you hop? Bad game.
The story gets kind of moronic by the end, but it's a solid game overall. Way more high effort than TX.
TX was a game rushed out by they D-team to fill year release quotas and to train rookies. To which I think they did a decent good job. So hopefully the new one has a good bit more polish.

Falcom-bros, we won again
For some reason I though Tokyo Xanadu was on Switch, but apparently that was Akira's Trip which I mistook for it.
TX is just Playstation and PC for now?
TX is on switch, but not in English.
I think Celceta got a switch announcement too.
It's coming to the west via Aksys again, this time with another retranslation.
>this time with another retranslation.
Didn't her that. Are they going to patch the existing ps4 versions?
The Switch version is JP-only until June of this year. Falcom spent most of the 2010s being fairly PS-centric. The vast majority of their ports to other platforms are outsourced.
Tokyo-GODS
Our time is coming soon
>Better girls than CS
>You can't romance either of them
Frick this game and their sequeal
>he cares about romance
I liked the Tachikawa setting so moving it to Kyoto is pretty disappointing for me.
To be honest I enjoyed the first game more than any cold steel game..... I just found the pacing a relaxing slow burn and both series always had very meh combat to me nonetheless
I've never played these games, can I jump into the latest one or do I need to start from the beginning?
